did you hook it straight up to hdmi or dvi/vga?
Alright, I ordered the Sony Bravia KDL-40V4100 from Best Buy ($799 + free shipping ending this Saturday, so couldn’t pass it up). I’m a little worried about the lag, but hoping there will be no post-processing through the VGA. I also have HDFury 2 being shipped atm.
I will let you all know how all that will perform when put together with the PS3.
Yeah, really, REALLY tempted to get that monitor myself. Lowest price yet (with a 20 dollar MIR anyway).
thanks for advice
just wanted to say thanks ive got a sony bravia kdl40v4100 that laged like amofo until iput that hd fury gamer edition on my ps3 now nothing lags even ps2 games ! got to get back to street fighter 3 but sewriously thanks again to the whoever put this thread together
lol, I ordered that exact TV couple of days ago. But I also have HDFury 2 on my way.
So, did you test out the lag with HDFury? (Rockband 2 test, that is).
rockband 2
yeah rockband 2 was 40ms lag havent had a chance to test it agian but now i can parry on 3rd strike
Parry is a 6 frame window isn’t it? It’s fairly generous.
Try the Rock Band 2 test a few times please!
rockand 2 test
it seems to be 13ms lag now but it always says unable to get acuate reading so dont qoute me on it ordered a hd fury 2 for my other sony lcd maybe ill have better luck with that one overall the gamer edition works fine but youve got t go to radio shack to get the y adapter to get the audio to work kinda a pain in yhe ass
street fighter 3
i think its 3 frames normal 2 special
I have a Samsung LN32B360
Guitar Hero III Test on my PS2 PHAT
and for Composite Video I get 0
and for Component Video I get 0 as well.
my concern is whether or not the the lag universal? What I mean by that is, if I stick in the Wii with Composite or Component will I get the same results? Meaning will there be no lag?
Does the test only apply to that specific system or game?
Ive been having problems playing my Sega Saturn Shmups, I keep dying and I don
t usually die that badly. I feel that there is lag, I use Composite video cables but yet the Composite video cables produce no lag with my PS2.
Can some one help me out here?
Thanks
Jimmy
Thanks guys, my lag is fixed. I ended up having “game mode” in my setting.
Interesting topic i must say. I did some research on this input lag before i got a HDTV. I opted for the Sony KDL-40V4000 for afew reasons. It was cheap at the time, had great PQ and according to hdtvtest it has 0-10ms input lag. You can find that info down this page,
I have neither of the games mentioned to test input lag. I wonder if there is any program for PC which i can use to test my TV. I guess i will turn on Game Mode and just hope the readings are correct.
Just curious. For people that is using xbox with computer monitor. Are you hooking it up with HDMI to HDMI or VGA for no lag? Hearing different story.
They do have a VGA cable for the Xbox and it’s for the most part, lagless.
oh okay thats good, thats what i bought and one member here told me. just checking up. thanks
I did the test on my standard 32inch Sony and I noticed a huge response difference compared to my Samsung 32 inch TV.
There is a difference and by playing with the two TVs I noticed that the Samsung one lagged a bit. Not enough to ruin a game but enough for lets say Shmups.
I dont think the Guitar Hero test is all that accurate. It really depends on a person
s skills in the game.
on the 360, i’m using an old dell plasma tv 42". with rockband (sorry, i dont have rb2) i estimated about 30-40ms of lag. I also have a samsung 46" dlp that had about 60-70ms of lag.
once i switched to vga cable on the dell plasma, lag is pretty much at zero as far as i can tell.
let me tell you, reaction dp’s are much easier to pull off without the lag.
I just spotted this post now, and I’d like to apologise for both coming off harshly and taking so long. This is a difficult topic to research for and most people just sort of skim over until they see something they want to hear and then decide that their TV is lagless because they can’t feel it. You’re clearly not one of those people.
In any case, monitors have post processing lag just like TVs do, just usually not nearly as much. I’ve only really been looking into monitors exclusively for our monthly ranbats for a long time you see…
I don’t quite follow what you’re proposing with the VGA to DVI port stuff. Are we talking about going from a 360s VGA port to a monitors DVI port? I’d say this wouldn’t work, as the converter is effectively making it DVI (digital) and the monitor acts based on which of it’s ports is being used regardless.
I have to admit that I called you out based on my own assumption instead of evidence. I assume that people had already tried hooking up their console HDMI out to TV/monitor DVI in, otherwise people wouldn’t be spending large sums of money on things like the HDfury.
thanks a lot wkwong. i’m waiting for my y adapter so i can hook it up to the stero. vga all the way baby =]
Got a 22inch Asus 2 ms 1680x1050, DVI, can use a DVI to HDMI dongle/converter to your xbox or ps3.
but i only use it on my Pc atm.
Ran GH 3 calibration, 0 ms witch i found funny… but ok
