The New Definitive HDTV Lag FAQ

Don’t mean to double post as I hate it when others double post but thought I’d post this here as well to help others. Feel free to delete this post if you like.

The** Samsung UE32EH5000** seems good

Another lag comparison. This time the Playstation 3D Display.

Any of you guys know a bigger tv that doesn’t lag? I know people use panasonic on their kraylix cab I think.

I am quoting this post because I have the same question.

I also wanted to know if the cheapest ($100) version of HDFury works as well for reducing lag as the more expensive versions.

I recently moved and my old TV belonged to the Board of Education where I was renting my apartment from. In my new apartment, I was given an old free Sony Bravia from my wife’s father so that is the only TV I have right now. Of course, games play pretty laggy on it. Can someone just confirm if getting the HDFury is my best bet, or should I just go out and buy a separate monitor for gaming?

I read the original post and last page but I don’t have time to read all 83 pages so if someone could just give me a quick answer I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Fwiw, the samsung 6500 series is getting gamer level performance praise. It is the euro model though.

"input lag was only 16ms compared to a CRT display, making the Samsung PS60E6500 one of the fastest TVs for gaming we’ve tested."

I’m testing the input lag of the Dell e228fwpc monitor wich I guess is the same as the e228fwp and so far it seems like is sub 1f based on the SMTT 2.0 test. I do have one question for those that know about it:

My PC only has DVI and HDMI outputs, I’m connecting my CRT monitor using a DVI to VGA conector and the Dell monitor directly over DVI. Does it affect in any way the results?

Are you referring to this ?

Beware also that the first hdfury is DVI to VGA, you’ll have to put a HDMI to DVI on it as well as hook up from A/V to the tv for the sound.

I just went from using my 40 inch Samsung ln40b550 to my girlfriends Acer S231hl computer monitor, which I read has 5 Ms response time. I must say I definitely can tell an immediate difference in being able to successfully perform bread and butter combos I’ve had a good amount of trouble with. I’m completely sold on getting a monitor solely to play fighting games. I am going to try and get an Asus vh236h or the vh238h which I just learned about and am still researching. Thanks for all this great information. I’m still so surprised how much better my skills are just by changing my setup. I’ve been so frustrated not being able to get a combo rhythm in SSF4 that’s consistent and bam, things are like ten times better!

Any word on the BenQ GL2450HM? It’s what MLG has MK on, and I’m looking into getting one for home to practice.

So can someone explain to me how exactly the HDFury works? I’ve looked around their website and Youtube and I still don’t understand, I’m not very tech-savvy much to my chagrin :(. I’m using a Vizio E320VP which is a piece of shit that has what feels like 3-4 frames of delay but I’ve been using the Microsoft brand 360 VGA cable which beautifully solves that problem. I’m planning on getting a WiiU and TTT2 but I’m almost certain that I’m going to get lag if I use the console’s HDMI cables that come with it. Here is the product I am looking at: http://www.hdfury.com/products/hdfury-gamer2

Broke my gf’s tv the other day :[
vizio vo32l, was fucking gdlk. didn’t lag on component (ps2) or hdmi (360)

Now I’m looking for something new that will work just as good (no lag hdmi/component)

any help/suggestions?

From what I understood, you only need to plug the HDMI on your console and the VGA+L&R sound outputs on your TV.
If you were satisfied with your xbox360 VGA cable, note that there is a third party Mayflash ps3/wii A/V to VGA cable for around 30 us dollars. I haven’t tried it personnaly but the general feedback is clearly positive.

Does anybody have know if the ps3 vga cable helps reduce lag vs the ps3’s standard hdmi cable?

I was thinking about trying this out:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDTV-AV-Audio-Video-Component-VGA-Cable-fr-Wii-PS3-to-PC-TV-Monitor-Display-Game-/150796741842?pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item231c2facd2

I’ve been seeing some ps3 vga cables that have: ps3 hdmi end and vga end. I imagine this type of cable is still carrying the hdmi signal to the vga port on lcd. So techinically theres no lag benefit, right? please correct me somebody
(btw is this cable different from the one above in my posted link?)

TY my brothas!

Can anyone recommend me a 40" led that doesn’t lag too much?

Everywhere I’ve read says go with plasma if you’re really looking for big screen with minimal lag.

Sent from my Sprint Galaxy S III using Tapatalk 2

Asus VK222H is there anyway to know whether I should purchase this or not, is it going to lag, looking to buy it for marvel 3 and other fighting games

This thread is absolutely brilliant! The Shoryuken forums have more accurate info on the topic of input lag than any other in the World Wide Web!

Aside from that, I decided to create and account in order to take part in some of these threads. I eventually intend on creating a thread to discuss a problem I have concerning a monitor, xbox 360 and input lag. After hours of search :/, you guys seem to be my best hope =)

I might just try posting it here tomorrow when I have more time.

Note: it is a very strange problem >.<

I am looking for a lagless tv in the 250-300 range that has a TV tuner built in it. It MUST have a TV tuner in it because I don’t have room for another monitor. Size isn’t really important as long as its >20in and it doesn’t lag.

EDIT: Fuck it. I’m going to pull the trigger on this Panasonic TC-L32C5. If there is lag there cant be too much of it right seeing that Panasonic is/was one of the inventors or IPS technology. I don’t have a CRT display but I do have a laptop with a VGA output. I will test it by cloning the outputs. is taking a pic with a cameraphone okay?

I’m wanting a recommendation on what to get to help with hdtv lag. Since my father got an xbox(i have my own ps3 i play on with a crt) The tv we have for the xbox is a samsung 65 inch LED TV. What would be the most cost-effective and best option to help deal with this problem?

Bought a Philips 40PFL5507T recently. I don’t really know what 1 frame of lag feels like and i don’t have a CRT to compare it to, but the input lag is hardly noticable.
As a mediocre player i am very happy with it.
