I picked the TV (TC-L32C3) picture looks beautiful, provided you put it on game of course. Unfortantely I don’t have a way to measure the ms as DJ does and hopefully he can do that soon but…
The response time is great! I can get off most of the 1-2 frame links that people say and you have to really concentrate to see if there’s lag, and there’s very little. I was using a HDMI cable at 720p resolution. The 360 automatically set it to 1080p though. Anyone know if this would cause more lag? I tested it a bit myself at least scrolling through menus and the movement wasn’t really that bad.
If you want a good budget LCD TV this is the one to get. Regular price is 299.99 but I got lucky and got it for 250 simply because the box was open and it had an older price tag. The cashier couldn’t figure out percents for some reason and gave me a flat rate of 50 dollars off instead of 10% It works great, as I said before BEAUTIFUL picture and good viewing angles and no dead pixels. I think the new models will be coming out soon but I’m pretty happy with this one.
Glad to hear it worked out for you. As far as picture quality on a lower budget tv this thing is great. I’d keep this tv even it was just for movies. Was watching blu-rays on it this weekend and it is so clear.
The screen by default is a little to dim for my liking but thats what custom settings are for so I brightened that bad boy up.
Got a new HDTV (sis got a bigger 50 inch Samsung) for free as relative was moving and can’t take it. It’s an AOC L99H998. 22 inches and mentions 1080p max resolution.
I tested through an Xbox 360 with component, HDMI, and VGA and ran The Beatles: Rock Band on it.
Component: Looks like shit (wow post processing made the view worse) but anyways…
Auto test: 4 times @720p - 5-6ms sound and 25ms video. 1080p had slightly worse results at auto at around 3-5ms more in video.
Manual test was similar after 6 tries.
HDMI (and VGA): Had similar results with HDMI post processing but when digging around the resolutions, it not only offered the usual 480p-1080p choices but actual specific resolutions (only a portion of VGA’s list). The switch cleaned the screen entirely. I would have likely faced similar results on a progressive (or 1080i) resolution from the component. I tested on 1280x1024 at widescreen. I did the same on VGA (TV doesn’t support 1280x720).
Manual test (As best as possible on an Xbox 360 controller): 6 times @1280x1024 widescreen - -5-2ms audio and -2-2ms video. VGA was had narrower results.
One of the biggest issues I faced in both HDMI and VGA (with 3.5mm audio in) was that the auto test wouldn’t capture the audio despite the sound outputting fine. I will guess that it will either be similar to HDMI’s score. Shouldn’t be too significant anyways.
3rd Strike: With the HDMI and VGA settings, I am getting good results when practicing the parrying trials (advanced all the way for about 4 times) and doing some particular super cancel combos with Ken and Yun. Although I still prefer playing on my CRT computer monitor, an arcade cab, or a HD signage monitor (thank you NEC monitor at Dromstruction), this TV is absolutely acceptable.
Will update this post with AE and 60fps camera results. So far though, it seems good on HDMI (resolution settings) and VGA’s end.
although it says not to ask others for results i do not have the the tools to test said lag on monitors but if someone would be so kind as to tell me if a samsung syncmaster b2330HD monitor would be a good substitute for asus vh236h.
aiight man i’ll help you out. imma just go buy that monitor you mentioned real quick and also all the equipment needed to test it out. i’ll also take 30 min to set it all up and test it, just for that one b2330HD monitor ok bro? I got ur bac.
I’m shopping around for a 32inch lcd since blackfriday is coming up. I’m trying get some advice on which one of these Four models should i get for a 32 inch model lcd. I will be using it mainly for gaming(ssf4:AE 2012) and some light tv and movies viewing.
**Samsung LN32D550
**
**LG 32LK450 **
Panasonic VIERA TC-L32U3
Sony BRAVIA KDL32BX420
Im leaning towards the Panny and the LG since they are ips moniors. Not sure what the sony is and i think the samsung is a s-pva. I reas the s-pva is bad for input lag?
So, I’m looking into buying a new TV with Black Friday coming up and am looking at brands such as Toshiba, Dynex and Sharp since they are the ones most within my price range. Has anyone had any experience with these that might be able to help me chose which one is the best? I would test one myself but I want to buy a TV I have heard good things about FIRST rather than buy a TV, test it and realize it won’t work well for gaming. ANY help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I’ve never heard of Dynex being mentioned as good brand for input lag, ever. I’d say shoot for the sharp but lag results even within the same company or line of TVs can be all over the place. Check the AVS forums.
Last I saw a monitor on a godsgarden stream it was the monitor I brought from Japan, the LG w2363v “Gaming Monitor.” It’s a cheap 23" monitor that has HDMI inputs (no speakers, headphone cable out) and a “thru mode” for no post processing and pretty darn good input response. It also has 1:1 mode which isn’t a common feature afaik. Unfortunately, I don’t think they ever brought this monitor (or its predecessors) to the states. I haven’t checked in a while though.
I bought a Samsung UN55D6050TF from costco. Frame delay as follows using 60 FPS Canon 7D and Ryu’s close jab as the test:
1080p with no game mode: 13-14 frames lag
1080p with game mode: 8-9 frames lag
720p with game mode: 8-9 frames lag
VGA (mayflash cables): 9-10 frames lag
Guess I have to keep my old monitor around just in case someone wants to throw down >.<
I’m using one of the evo monitors for my ps3. Does anyone know a special cable/converter I can use to connect the two? I would prefer not to spend that much on the hdfury and the link for the 3rd party cable is old.
I see them regularly on slickdeals.net for that price. Most recent deal I saw was 3 for $6 and then some $1 shipped ones for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I’ll see what else I can find with a quick search hold up…
there is any difference in terms of input lag between the Asus vh248h and the vh236h? The response time is always 5/2 frames, but i know that this is not the only aspect that matter (sorry for my poor english)
