Anyone check out the LG E2770V-BF? 27" LED with the Thru mode. Same thing that made the smaller 24" LG so good with lag. Ordered one to try out. Don’t have access to a CRT anymore, but I’ll see what I can come up with. Could be a decent option for people looking for a monitor larger than 22/24.
DId the input lag test on the VE228H again to confirm my previous results, indeed the results are the same:

out of 17 pics, 10 are less than a frame, 6 are a frame, and 1 is two frames.
ghetto calculation tells me this monitor lags at around an average of 7ms, less than a frame.
Getting the frames right though is kind of annoying because of what i believe is the response time (ghosting makes the numbers jumble together and you aren’t sure what frame the LCD is on)
But I play SF4 on the monitor, doesn’t affect me (but i’m the type that adjusts to whatever environment im playing in) so…overall i would say this monitor is fine for gaming.
My brother recently got a Sharp Aquos LC32L450M. Tested AE and there was a bit of lag (compared to my Samsung Syncmaster P2250 monitor).
Aquos is made by Sharp, not Samsung, but yeah, close enough.
I’ve had a 32" Sharp Aquos (GP3U) for about 2 1/2 years now, and it has a “Game Mode” setting that you can set in the OSD menu on a per-input basis. While the inputs are set to Game Mode, I’ve never had any trouble with lag whatsoever. I’ll make no claims that it’s technically “lagless” because I haven’t done any actual benchmarks myself, but I’d be willing to say that there’s an imperceptible amount of lag, if any, as there’s no noticable difference when going back and forth between my Aquos and the Asus “EVO monitors.”
All I know is I can play extremely timing-precise old-gen music games (which normally also include upscaling lag) as well as 360/PS3 fighting games on it with no perceptible lag whatsoever. With my other HDTV, both of those types of games are completely unplayable.
I remember talking to some sales guys at… some random TV section in a Sears or something, and I laughed inside when he addressed my input lag concern by telling me I needed to look for a TV with a higher refresh rate and better response time.
Silly salespeople.
I have some questions about monitors and my setup.
The first post in the thread talked about HDTVs and how HDFURY or the VGA cables were ideal. Does that statement hold true for PC monitors as well?
I just transferred to the 360 from a PS3 and I didn’t know that the old 360s didn’t have a HDMI port and all my monitor has is VGA and HDMI so I’m stuck with VGA for my setup. They guy at Best Buy said VGA was the best for reducing input lag, is that true?
Also, shopping for VGA cables, I came across the official Microsoft cable and I was wondering if this is the best one available or if there are cheaper options that are just as good.
Thanks ahead of time, really trying to get this squared away so I can actually start playing AE.
Fixed my post, meant to say Sharp not Samsung.
But yes, even in game mode, I do feel that I have to change my timings abit compared to when I’m on the Syncmaster (off course, the latter is running through DVI since it doesn’t have HDMI).
Grab these off ebay instead. They are 100% genuine Microsoft VGA cables & much cheaper too!

Hey, tech talk!
I’m going to buy fresh 3D LED TV around 40"-50". My budget = $ 2,000 max.
Can you please recommend any?
Thanks man, good find. So VGA is the way to go?
Hey guys, so my brother actually just bought the ASUS VH236H.
Is this thing supposed to be lagless from the get-go, or do you need to calibrate it? Or does simply putting it to game mode work?
Do any of the other default modes work, too, or is it game mode only (assuming that game mode is indeed lagless in the first place)?
Any mode dude. It’s good from the box. The modes only change to presets of what’s manually adjustable (brightness/contrast/etc.)
anyone have lag numbers on this one? Wondering if its about the same as my vh236 since Ive been looking for a new monitor thats just a bit bigger.
Much thanks, bro!
I could get a good deal locally in Salt Lake on an Asus ve245 ($130)…anyone familiar with that model regarding lag?
Doubt it’s good … the VE247 is bad from reports, so I’m willing to bet it’s similar to the VE245.
Don’t take this as gospel, but i’m predicting 1-2frames at least on that. Surely playable, but why not get a VH236H then
You could otherwise be very helpful and test it for us
Anyone know if these Sharp Aquos models are as good as the one reviewed on the avsforum?
Sharp AQUOS LC-40D68UT 40-inch 1080p LCD HDTV
$449.00
Sharp Aquos LC40E77U 40-inch 1080p LCD HDTV
$589.99
I have that TV.
I’ve experienced some lag on Aquos TVs. But then again, this is on comparison to a non-HDMI solution.
Hey azproc, could you point me to where i can read some of the bad reports, i was about to pick up the ASUS VE247H because its the only one i can get my hands on at a local pc store, i would get the ASUS VH236 but i can not order anything online atm, thanks.
