The New Definitive HDTV Lag FAQ

He said he removed composite, not component.

Well if you think the video will help show us better then it’s a good idea.
Google isn’t being friendly to me when I’m searching for it, so I’ll have to stay skeptical until I see something otherwise.
You seem to know your stuff so, I would very much appreciate it if you could. Else I’ll be stuck waiting … still.

Not saying that it’s not true for you but I’m OCD about input lag as I still haven’t moved over to the lagless/virtually lagless LCDs like the VH236H, from a CRT. I have an old 20’ LCD from Viewsonic (Vx2025wm i think?) that lags badly… i mean i can manage, but it’s bleh at 2frames-ish (25-30ms).

Anyone know a good LED TV in the 42 - 47 inch range with little input delay?

LED? Nope, the 47ld450 however has everything you want minus being an LED.

i was actually refering to the monitor/tv’s native res, and not what the cables themselves are able to do.

Not really. The reasons VGA outperform HDMI on some TVs have nothing to do with the cables themselves.

Also, just FYI, all the HD arcade games I’ve seen the insides of use HDMI over other cables.

So is there any conclusion as to what the best TVs are in the 25-30 inch range?

Is there a good list that is kept current of TV’s with low input lag? in various sizes?

a friend of mine is hunting for a tv in the 42-47 inch range for his house. I have NO idea what his budget is. i think i’ll throw that 47ld450 his way and tell him that it’s probably the best one currently.

According to my friend, switching his Sony Bravia to PHOTO mode all but eliminated the heinous lag he had been dealing with. According to him, it feels just as good as my Evo ASUS now. I’ll see what I can do about getting tests done on this, but for now it’s an option that may help those of you with Bravia sets out.

…I going to buy a sony bravia now!

no. again your wrong. hdmi will always have some lag. every hdmi. some worse then others. some better. the hd arcade games just have better post processing then the average consumer panel. that is why they cost more. and i never said it had to do with the cables it has to do with decompression and decryption involved with hdmi post processing that is the issue. all hdmi cables are the same given that they are of the same cl standard and rating.

Is the rock band two 2 method really automatic?, i tried doing it but it always ask me to strum/hit x button. I am using a ps2 rockband 1 guitar, etc. I tried a dualshock3 but it never does it automatically. So how do i really do it?

Hello LCD masters i followers, after reading the FAQ i already understand some of the basis on choosing a HDTV… so with that info i have selected until now two models from LG brand to be side by side with my PS3:

32LD645: 32", 4ms, 1920x1080, 60Hz, video game mode
32LD650: 32", 2ms, 1920x1080, 120Hz, video game mode

The average price for each one is almost the same (it’s suppose LD650 is better but i really don’t know)

Someone has any experience with any of this two models?

Thanks in advance.

The Rockband 2 guitar had optical and sound sensors built in. I’m not sure though if it matters if it’s PS2 or PS3. But yes it is automatic. You hold the guitar in front of the TV and it will do beep and flash tests and the guitar will pick it up. Eventually it will give you the lag and will adjust accordingly.

I have the 46LD450 and it’s been proven via avsforums to be as lagless as a lcd monitor can get, I would assume that since they will both use LG’s IPS display technology they should also be lagless(if run in 60Hz mode) but unfortunately i can not provide concrete test results on those models.

I dont have the ps3 version of the guitar :frowning: when i hold the guitar and do the test, the “gauge” does not increase and it gives me no results. I have to manually strum to increase the gauge and complete the test. But the results vary alot. I got 14ms and then i got 90ms! Guess the automatic method dont work with the old ps2 guitars?

yo has any of the ole g’s have tested or gotten the new tc l32x3 the new 2011 alpha ips panel panny?

Im still hoping and waiting to get a Viera TC-L32C3 test done with pics. Anyone?

Your reading comprehension is terrible.

SO, are you telling me that LD645 is a good option? there is a 20 bucks difference betwen this two models.
