The NEW! Call of Duty General Thread: WW2 is only slightly broke

COD Mythbusters : WWII edition…

https://youtu.be/olU1jUZtttI

It’s strange. Even with all the youtube commentators in my feed, I didn’t really “process” that WWII came out and it’s been almost a week since.

If someone has it, what are your thoughts so far? I know it’s early, but still.

I’m specifically asking SRK. People who have it - what are your thoughts? Stuff like Metacritic, while somewhat valid to me, is always going to have a bunch of stuff you have to filter out.

:coffee:

meh…

best answer…

Thanks. I’ll be passing this over then.

Been hearing that Headquarters (the social out-of-match mode) has been causing a shit ton of problems anyway.

I like it, but it’s my first CoD game ever.

Get Black Ops 3, it’s about a trillion time better. It’s single player mode is an actual full game with co-op, plus it has zombies, another single player mode with co-op, and of course multi-player. Then it has the dead ops arcade 2 which is basically a mini game that is pretty much another full game albeit a retro one.

Also Zombies in black ops 3 is pretty nuts, way too much shit for me to even figure out but my homeboys were legit as fuck in it, so many secrets in wild shit in it.

Yeah, as much as Black Ops 3 fell off in my eyes, I can see it being appealing to a new player. Pick it up if you find it for cheap.

Out of the newer games it has the most bang for your buck plus the all the modes allow you to play with others. Also it still has little events and shit to earn more of those keys to get the lame ass loot boxes for the op weapons, even if I still haven’t gotten the newer ones :lame:

Also this.

Ok ok since I’m one of the few who still plays every game in the series for better or worse. I’ll bestow upon some of you my knowledge so far:

BO3 took away Ground war which REALLY was a big draw for me. also the flavor of the week playlists were hit and miss. Yay for one week peeps finally play Demolition. Nay for capture the flag/Search n Destroy week. Sucks for no more Nuketown 24/7 lists.

now for WW2 Full thoughts:

Good
-HQ is a nice update to the regular menus and having an area to test Streaks/play 1v1 is a bonus
-Firing Range is back and some contracts let you build up some…points? still neat I guess
-War game mode is a very nice addition and will probably be my fave mode to play.
-You can keep doing contract challenges over and over for more bonuses
-There’s a crap ton of ways to earn supply drops
-supply drops now can drop with temp double XP/Weapon XP/Soldier class XP

Netural
-Boots on the ground play is back…some hate it some like it. I could take it or leave it.
-Campaign is ok…but feels limited due to the setting of the game.
-Zombies is different. Sledgehammer has done Zombies before but I always felt this should be a Treyarch thing. Sledgehammer should focus on some alt survival mode. Hell AW had zombies AND a regular Survival.

Bad (ok here we go)
-Streaks are so bland. More Bland than IW! I know it’s WW2 but C’mon! No dogs? Some are too redundant. Mortar/Artillary strikes are too similar and can each do the same. Two similar bombing runs? Meh. Ball Turret Gunner is also boring. I have a feeling this will change (WIll say down below)
-Perks are so forgettable. Why did they change this? I know they like to experiment but this shouldn’t have been something to change.
-I hate the limitation of loadouts. Pick 13 while copied from Treyarch was fine as is. I liked that you could sacrifice streaks for more perks/equipment. I also liked that each loadout had its own streaks
-The divisions also limit your choices. Yes I can use a shotgun on the infantry class but some division perks won’t work. Suppressors are only on one division? Well that sucks for you!

Ugly
-We’re getting DLC guns eventually. It’s easily set up to be that way so for now I’m saving all rare drops I get
-I fear that to spice up Streaks we’ll see again Streak variants.
-I also fear for DLC weapons we’ll get gun variants again…which fucks the balance of the game.
-Opening supply drops in HQ was clearly meant to circle jerk among your friends on who got the sweet drops. Yay pressuring you vs a youtuber/streamer to see who gets better drops.
-the social points you earn for doing shit with friends is annoying. This (from what others have claimed) CAN lead to better drops. I don’t socialize with anyone in this game anymore so fuck that being a factor for better supply drops.
-No Ground War (IE big games) No Momentum game mode. Hell just limited game modes so far.

Ways to improve it as is:

-More streaks like…a Heavy Machine Gun (since a Robot Sentry couldn’t be done). Fighter Squad Strafe run (replaces the bombing run or maybe combine both streaks?) and…DOGS!
-Redo how much you earn per kill in some modes
-Division classes should be dropped fully. The divisions should have been more like IW (yeah they did one thing right) You choose one and which one you pick will yield different contracts and challenges to complete.

Overall…This game is better than IW. But any game in the series is easily. I could say BO3 is worth going back to…but I can’t get into games unless it’s TDM and maybe Dom once in a while. I miss the big games from ground War and the War game mode they added should have been the one with more than 12. Missed opportunity. This one I can see as playable…but not to the level of BO3/BO2 MW1 or MW2. I may even dare say AW was better then this.

Yeah not having ground war as a standard choice sucks ass, you have to hope and pray that it is on one of the feature list or whatever it is called. Was playing it last week though.

Man a game like BO3 with the craziness of MW2 and have the customazible killstreaks along with them being apart of your individual loadouts like AW. Also make your specialist apart of each individual class so you can swap them upon death. With more maps with interactive shit and hazards?

That would be the perfect Call of doot doot. Also some decent environmental destruction, with killstreaks changing the stage. We COULD do this but that would be pushing the envelope.

Maps are terrible. UI is terrible.

Matchmaking is VERY buggy right now.

At this rate, I’d rather play Black Ops 3.

EDIT: The latest update fucked up matchmaking.

OH HERE’S SOME PATCH NOTES:

https://i.imgur.com/3E259TK.gif

Them getting rid of the Pick 10 system for that Division mess just reeks of “we have to do SOMETHING to make this game stick out”. I was hoping it wasn’t as dumb in the final game as it was in the Beta, but I guess it was.

I’m on the verge of trading this game in. After three years in development, the game is plagued with shitty connection issues and terrible map design. I just finished TDM and then get booted to a loading screen and then sent to headquarters without seeing the results (this has happened to me multiple times since launch). Sometimes the game hangs after a match to the point I’m forced to restart the game.

Three fucking years.

That “3 year dev cycle” is bullshit. Yes, the devs technically have 3 years before their next game comes out. But if one dev kicks off something people really respond to (good or bad) - like Sledgehammer did with jetpacks - the next game has to account for that. Activision wants to keep up any gravy train it sees, and that’s just not possible with a 3-year cycle. People change and fans are fickle. I’m assuming Activision is in the wings, pressuring devs to take a certain direction with the games. I’m not 100% sure, but I feel that’s what’s going on. How else do you get 3 advanced movement games, and then the company who STARTED the advanced movement suddenly deciding to go back to boots-on-the-ground? If Infinite Warfare did well, I think we’d have seen Advanced Warfare 2 instead of WW2 this year. I know that doesn’t make much sense as a theory; it’d be foolish to invest time and money into a game for a year or two then switch gears. But it would explain a fair bit. Like how Infinite Warfare was basically Black Ops 3b, when they had 3 years to work on their thing too. I’m thinking Infinity Ward wanted to make Ghosts 2, but got flipped as well.

I’m a little miffed that they’re doing this; When they first announced the 3-year cycle, I had hoped each COD could be different for real, and each studio would get ample time to work on things, regardless of what their vision was. That’s not the case, it seems.

Why do people hold BO3 in such high regard? It’s not good. BO2 was better.

BO3 and IW were turnt, glad i skipped this game everyone says its ass
