Who has the best K-66 on the EC? WHO!?!?!?!!?
mag lets get a few more games in some time, always helps to play the better players.
im talkin bout that soldier that will combine TURTLE, VORTEX, and whatever the fuck it is TELEPORT
Kay youse guys. I need halp.
in all seriousness, can someone tell me how to deal with a good ryu? demon flip mix-ups? out. he srk’s everything >> ultra. same story with jump ins. so i try to keep the fight on the ground. fine, he doesn’t jump neither do I. then a fireball war occurs, we footsie eachother, but the problem is, i can’t land damaging BnB’s unless i get up in his face, where as this ryu can ultra/super me through my fireballs on reaction (he has… multiple times). So my fireball game is neutralized once he has meter (unless i bait the ultras but that in itself is difficult. How do you bait a metsu hadouken?), my air game is neutralized, my mixup’s seldom work because he knows how to defend against them, AND worst of all: ryu’s fucking jumping roundhouse has retardedly awesome range, so if he hits with the tip of his toe, bye bye 1/5 of my health.
If he is using Ultra on a fireball war you can bait it with an EX Gohadou. It has faster recovery, which allows you to defend yourself after you throw it out. I think you should work more on pokes, since Akuma’s are better than Ryu’s. Beware of mashed shoryukens.
actually both EX hado and hado have 44 recovery frames (they also have the same start up frames).
can anybody elaborate on the pokes I should be using? besides s.rh, I just don’t feel comfortable using that against ryu.
I’m sorry, my mistake. But it’s strange. There were times when I used hado and eated an ultra, and in the same exact situation I used EX hado and defended the ultra.
bait his low foward then sweep, use crossup tatsu to bait DPs, on his wakeup use ambiguous crossups + safe palms to bait dps. ryu wins most parts of this matchup in isolation, u just have to be a better player.
s.HK should be use very lightly against Ryu since it can be punished on block. Generally the pokes I use are c.MP and c.MK although you should use these carefully since Ryu’s c.MK is way better. A good technique to learn is to walk in and out of his c.MK range to bait it and then move in if he whiffs.
I like the low fwd footsies and the safe palm. How do you do palm so that it’s safe? and if he does try to srk, will palm stuff it out cleanly?
also, is it possible to reliably time an empty jump in so that I can bait out his srk? I’ve heard some akuma players say that you can’t really safe jump shotos.
its not really hard to bait the dp with palm. i dont really have any pointers lol. if u do a dive kick or two on their wakeup they will get antsy. then u can just do palm>option select mixup. also try demon flipping over them to bait out the DP i.e. from mk demonflip range do a HK demonflip palm. palm will only stuff dp on 2 frames of startup i THINK.
as for the safe jumps i am not really familiar with them.
u can demon flip short and purposely miss but a demon flip is not guaranteed either seeing as if u try to hit him he can srk u and beat u clean and at worst trade so palm doesnt stuff it completely. u cant really time a same jump on shotos its about the start up and active frames of shoryuken its gay in that the frames where u do the safe jump are about the same if not same (forgot) as a shroyuken in effect u get hit out of it. just be careful with footsies, bait, and punish as hard as possible every single time also be ready to tech throws a lot if ur blocking ryu gets some sick frame advantage on some of his moves and a good ryu player knows that.
p.s. sorry i havent updated the first post in a long ass time i said i would and im really sorry i let u guys down im just going through a bad time in my life right now. depressed and such, got myself booted from my college and i have to spend a semester at a community college and hopefully go back to stony brook college im leaving hence i havent really been on sf a lot or looking at match up info. i play occasionally but at night for an hour or 2 but anyways im really sorry ill get it up as soon as possible.
There is a thread where the Ryu matchup was discussed. My post from said thread - http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=217197&p=7933679&viewfull=1#post7933679
I think that you should play him simple because when using mixups we always seem to get SRK.
Is there ever going to be a concrete, 100% correct strategy against Ryu?? Be more aggressive! Be less aggressive! DF more! Don’t DF on him! Get close! Stay far away! At least if there was some general strategy in this matchup thread for him… sigh
It would make things a lot less confusing when meeting one online.
^^ yeah but not all ryu’s play the same. Ryu is a solid character for a reason, he’s very adaptive, he can rush or zone and excel in both. It depends on the player. So I guess we have to adapt along or get fucked.
one problem people have with playing akuma is looking for one strategy for a character…akuma is a character you have to adapt with…so sometimes" Be more aggressive! Be less aggressive! DF more! Don’t DF on him! Get close! Stay far away!" you have to choose when to what during a match…ryu is a tough match-up because the person who adapts better wins.
only u have less health to do it
Actually conservative and smart is the way to play against good Ryu’s. Good Ryu’s can shut down alot of Akuma’s offense(and are generally ready to do so), so being aggressive is only going to result in DP FADC ultra. There are times when Akuma can pressure Ryu(in the corner), but generally you will need to play conservative and smart.
Heres a compiled list of some great vegas to fight against…let them know u added them from VEGAS LIST
