sheeeitttt, I used to watch and record Half N Half regularly, because goddamn that show was loaded with FINE ass…–> my baby Essence Atkins + Rachel True, who most probably remember from The Craft…and at least one of the older ladies playing their mother; I think her name is Valarie Pettiford; she was alright too… but Essence was really something; a shame she’s not as famous as she should be. As a sitcom it was probably forgettable; I was just tuning in to see those girls.
The Game was on yet another level…wall to wall FIRE hotness on that show. The lineup was insane.
slowly catching up here… finally finished season 1 of The Order. My only gripe about this show is that I wish it had a slightly more serious tone. It seems rare that the characters take things seriously, like the stakes aren’t quite high enough or something. That dude playing “Edward Coventry” makes for a great villain though; he comes off as legitimately imposing.
There’s also the way the werewolves look, though that’s one of those things I’m admittedly quite picky about…and I realize that kind of creature is a bit of a visual challenge; there’s a lot of ways to mess up and end up with a design that looks kinda silly.
The TnA/Eye Candy rankings— surprisingly tough but the #1 is a toss-up between Alyssa and Lilith for me…even though Alyssa is a bit lacking in the body department… so yeah I’m leaning towards Lilith being the top rank hotness on the shot. I’d eat the hell out of that one. The older (*at least older than the main characters, not “old old” obviously) woman with the high-ranking position in “The Order” is a good one too.
ok yeah, a few episodes in on season 2 of The Order now… Lilith solidified her top spot on the hotness scale. Her new hairstyle that season is an upgrade. This girl is an absolute smokeshow.
well, that was odd how they just dropped that minor villain from the early part of the season…doesn’t look like they will revist that again… the random girl that was killing people with magic spells and filming it…just goes on to get killed off by Alyssa’s “fucked up” magical attack with little to no fanfare… they were kinda building her up as if we’d find out what her motivation was, her background, etc…like she was going to be at least part of a major threat but nope. In fairness I haven’t finished season 2 yet though, but it seems like they moved on quickly to something more dire and are NOT coming back to that…it’s weird. Hahaha that bitch got the “Snoke from Star Wars” treatment.
Decided to dip my toe into the Netflix adaptation of Umbrella Academy since the comic is still fresh in my mind.
I’m only about half way through episode 3 but I really like everything they’ve done so far. I love Klaus the most so far. His adaptation is probably the most accurate so far.
One thing I really love is how they expand on Hazel and Chacha. They were so fucking weird in the comics but you also didn’t really get much time with them. They did get a once shot where they saved Christmas though. So there’s that. Lol
I just wish they always had the masks on. Gave them a much more sinister tone.
Edit; oh, they just combined book one and book two into season 1. I’m at the part where Klaus gets transported back from Vietnam
Edit II Turbo: Fuuuuuck. I had a feeling from jump that Leonard would be the conductor
So they’ve changed a lot of stuff around and added a lot of stuff to the adaptation.
Which has been more or less fine. I haven’t outright disliked the stuff they’ve changed or added. There’s been stuff I’ve been “eh” or questioned but nothing I’ve outright disliked.
Pretty much everyone gets more fleshed characters which I appreciate. Cause of so many different narratives squished down to 26 pages it’s hard to give everyone time between the panels.
Also I can almost guarantee that Gerard Way chose the soundtrack and contributed to the score for the show cause theyre really really good
Edit: god dammit. As soon as I praise it they do something I outright hate lol. Leonard’s backstory is fucking dumb. That’s the best shit they could come up with? A disgruntled/creepily obsessed super fan?
edit: so they changed vanya’s powers dramatically. They changed them to her emotional state amplifies her powers. When in the comics it was simply she could control how powerful the sound waves were emitted from instruments she played
Just finished Umbrella Academy. It seems like they’re completely skipping book 3, Hotel Oblivion and going straight into their version of the unreleased Book 4. Which I won’t mention the title of since it kinda spoils the end of Season 2.
Whatever works I guess. 🤷🏻 Outside of the last few issues Hotel Oblivion isn’t really that eventful.
All-in-all I enjoyed what they’ve added more than disliked. So that’s a huge plus. As the series went on it became less and less faithful to the comic but sometimes that was for the better. Sometimes it wasn’t.
It’s a good watch though. As someone who’s a huge fan of the comic I’d recommend it if someone asked me about it.
