I have a bone to pick with those that think that Robert is lover than B. I mean this has to be his best style yet. High and low projectiles, ability to have 3 projectiles on the screen, his Genei Kyaku can’t be punished if blocked.
Robert is good, but he takes just a little more effort than some of the other “strong” characters. His ability to play defensively is excellent and his offense really shines once you corner someone. But yeah, there is no way that he is any lower than B tier, and I would argue for A almost.
Yeah, I was debating to on if I should have put Robert in the A tier. It’s just that aside from the occasional Japanese vid, I haven’t seen much of him. Not to mention, I suck with charge characters. :rolleyes: I just put him in the B rank because he has to work a little harder than those I put in A or S. But I will agree, the lowest he should ever be is B tier.
Robert is getting weaker as more people are exploring characters that AREN’T Big/Marco. Hotaru gives him hella fits, Washi ruins his day unless he’s on point with fireball rushdown, and I could place a strong argument for Kaede being a straight up COUNTER character to him. I’d say B is a pretty good placement.
I admit the Robert/Kaede matchup is not that great for him, but he has his ways around him. A difficult matchup, but not what I would call a straight counter. Mostly Robert’s problem is that he can’t keep up in damage and thus he has to run the entire matchup, and Kaede has several easymode reactionary ways to get out of his pressure. Defensive Robert has an easier time against Kaede.
I would expect Hotaru to give Robert a hard time, her pressure and mobility are too good. Against Washizuka, it’s whoever establishes their position first.
See, it makes sense that Kaede and Hotaru give Robert issues because I see them to be higher tiers. Which is why I put Washi with Robert in B tier because they’re a really close match. The two of them are so similiar it’s almost eerie. :looney:
I agree with BOF…Robert does have to run the entire matchup in most of those things…hurting him since he is a charage character…but a defensive Robert is good for these matchups…have to be real patient though and the Kaede vs. Robert matchup can get real boring.
