Reversal Parry as in, if you can parry an active attack while waking up. In other words, if his parries have any uninvincible startup or not.
I wouldnt say it has invincible startup as of now…but for what I am aware it doesn snuff wakeup DPs etc…depending on what you are going for…
But I get what you are thinking/saying…
Oh yeah Another character I’m digging-KISARAH!!! Man shes awesome too!! I dont think she is a noobish character by far because her bag whip cancels make her really good on wakeup (Highs, Mids, Lows, Command Super throws that combo holy shit!!!)
qcb+C, hold D is the same animation as QCb D(HOLD D) it all looks the same!!!
You can also Cancel Qcb+D with C so I denote it Qcb+D~C!!! It all looks the same, very deceiving for an opponent on wakeup!!!
From this you know what you are holding and can either return to normal and throw/whatever to your opponent from qcb+C~D(Hold D) or Qcb+D, release D hit opponent follow up second attack with qcb+C then Super Cancel to the Jealousy Bomber/DA FAST…great way to fuck your opponent up in the corner…wakeup and mindgames off the bag shit is where Kisarah EXCELS IMO…
More to come of course…she kicks ass…dont think shes as good as Hotaru however…
EDIT II: Kisarah is a beast in the right hands…she is very technical however…
Damn good mixups off her KARA SLIDE(Theres not many Kara’s in this game…not typical of an SNK game…KOF has a grip of them…they took many out)…cancel the slide into her qcb+B/D Bag series and go into any of the options I just listed…
A good but not real damaging combo for her bc of damage scaling then a more deadlier one just discovered (as you guys can see I’m pretty busy!!):
Qcb+D wait till after second hit, follow up with qcb+C (which pushes opponent closer to you) st. Cxxqcf+b,Super Cancel in air to qcf+2Kick super!!!
If you are going for sheer damage go for this:
Qcb+D,Follow 2nd hit with Qcb+C, Jealousy Bomber…simple and the throw combos…good 60% damage!!!
In the right hands I think she is a beast…with all the options I just gave you plus this:
Her hip bazoooka can bounce to safety EARLY OR LATE…and can also have a follow up cheerleader kick (b or D) that if timed right late from a standing opponent can link into the SC Aerial Kick super!!!
Hip bazooka is also great for runaway and crossups post Slide!!! **Know this-the Cheerleader Kick DOES NOT CROSSOVER AFTER KNOCKDOWN…SO USE HIP BAZOOKA!!! Jump b is hard to time to crossover!!!
Shes badass…probably midtier though…but she is hella fun with all this shit…
(Now theres more but i think I’ve said enough for today)
Extra tidbit about the Slide- It links to qcb+Ax2 bag move!!! Fucking awesome!!! She makes me love this game more…more technical characters…that it what I like can’t you tell??? (LOL)
EDIT III: I know many of you know her F+D is an overhead. yes but its slow as hell…use the FIRST HIT OF QCB+A AS AN OVERHEAD and train your opponent to get hit by the F+D!!!Very fast on wakeup!!! Also you can do qcb+bxxQcb+a+qcf+a combo…man fucking awesome for mindgames!!!
She kicks serious ass…great character from ADK to put in!!!
Another rule in this game that has been in KOF and other 2d fighters…ANY MOVE THAT IS AN OVERHEAD BY ITSELF LOSES THOSE PROPERTIES IN A COMBO…so with Kisarah st. C to Qcb+A the opponent can CROUCH BLOCK THE WHOLE DAMN THING…
Another character worth mentioning is Shermie. I trained with her on the PS2 import and GOOD GOD SHE IS A BEAST!
I can’t stress enough the priority on her grabs. It seems to me that she’s built for Counters with her grabs, namely her hcb + C. My gripe with that move is that you have to do the motion twice in order to do the toss afterward. Honestly, I feel Shermie is insanely underrated compared to Kisarah and Hotaru.
Don’t get me wrong, Kisarah and Hotaru are beefed up compared to the games they comefrom, because Lord knows Kisarah needed an upgrade from ADK. But Shermie is more versatile in NGBC than her KOF styles. And the best thing is her HSDM from 02, the Lightning Lariat, is practically no longer a throw. You can link it after the f+b for some good damage. Add a crouching b befor the f+b for a sure combo.
Okay Shermie ranting over…
Now.
I was thinking about importing the PS2 version because I’d rather not wait forever for the Xbox 360 version. I was wondering though if anyone has used Swap Magic? I was wondering whether or not if they are any good because I’d rather not mod my PS2.
Also, for those that have/played NGBC, how does Asura stack up? Is Shiki more or less identical to the way she played in SvC Chaos?
Swap magics are good, and IMO better than mod chips and slide cards. Asura is pretty low tier, however…I’m sure someone can use him effectively. As for Shiki, she no longer has her command chains, but she overall has improved with most of her moves being able to combo. She also now has the ability to teleport in the air. I’m sure I’m missing something, but that’s what I can think of right now.
I’ll take your word for it and grab myself a Swap Magic and order NGBC off Play-Asia or Lik Sang then if it’s still in stock, I’ve been wanting to play the game since it came out, but I don’t have any arcades nearby that stay up to date with all the new Japanese games.
And that’s badass that Shiki can teleport in the air now, kinda like in the SvC Chaos Comic, she was teleporting like crazy all over the place.
Don’t you need the Swap Magic in order to use the slide card effectively?
Remember that you need a flip top/slide card/magic switch to use swap magic.
Right right, I saw a few online shops carrying a Swap Magic/Slide Card combo, so I’ll probably grab up one of those. All you do is insert the Swap Magic disc, manually open the PS2’s Sliding Disc Tray manually using the Slide Card, then put in your import game disc right?
If it’s anymore complicated than that, then I’m gonna go nuts. Then again, I used to use the double-swap trick on the old PSX to play DragonBall Z Legends and Final Bout. XD
Slide Card can potentially mess up your drive door as it’s basically forcing it open. Not that likely to do any major damage, but it certainly isn’t going to help anything.
Flip Top is a much better solution, and not really much more expensive.
How does the Flip Top one work, and does it work with all PS2 models or just the newer slimmer ones?
I’m so happy I invested in an import PS2…I hate screwing around with CD drawers and cases. In actuallity, I’m getting musch more use out of it than U.S. version by far (since I also enjoy shmups that never see U.S. shores…BONK’S ADVENTURE).
Something else noticed guys…for the Special Double Assaults after you meet the requirements you actually have a small window to do the SDA…that means you can combo it, do another move then do the SDA etc etc…good for mindgames…
Flip Top is for old PS2 models. For new PStwos, you can buy little mods that trick the system into thinking you never open the top. You can also do it yourself with some trickery with a paper clip or something.
Oh yeah about the Asura stuff from earlier…
his qcbx2 A/B Super- The A Button makes Asura stay in one position while the B button makes him move a little bit. Also the A button DOES NOT HIT THE GROUND…the b button hits the ground.
Know this- The a button one is SLOWER THAN THE B ONE…tried and tested…
Which with all the advantages of the B version I see no need to use the a version…I mean shit…the b version hits full screen at least…
And for you Goths out there a little tidbit about him…
All his move names are the names of Demons spelled backwards…
Natas-Satan for example…
Yeah noticed that name thing from orochinagi…
Actually, there are sites that carry fliptops for the slimlines, so it doesn’t really matter anymore. But yeah, fliptops are much safer and I find them to be easier to install, which is a good thing when working with such a fragile system like the PS2…everyone knows how easily that thing gets out of whack. :arazz:
Man oh man Goddess Athena has changed…yes she has…oh my God…actually truly playable now…man…lol
Her dp Mermaid Kick is GOD!!!
