4. some sort of thing that looks like the super punch but he doesnt actually do the punch, then you push buttons and he does some what seem to be normals… have not idea how this super works

DM #4 seems to be Ryo’s 10+ hit combo from Buriki One that I have read about which is supposed to be inputted with the joystick and not buttons and this can be confirmed with the Arcadia movelists.

This game is looking good to me and can’t wait to try it out which will be a year from now on consoles unfortunately, but to me it feels like its missing something to make the hit connections more solid. Can’t really explain it eloquently enough, but other than that this game seems like it will be a blast to learn /play.

cause that could make someone think svc is a decent game and could make marvel seem balanced

rock and terry have a hidden double assault. some guy did it on me today. when they rush you to do the da at the start the character has a golden spark around them instead of the normal da blue spark.

played a fiendish ai today. she is a real pain in the ass… with her floating in the air, dropping blocks that take 10 seconds to fall… she can also fill the screen with robots, the bullets the little robots fire, blocks, do the weird dashing teleport thing and appear behind you… almost all at the same time… you are guaranteed to get hit in there somewhere as its hard to keep track of all the attacks…

IORI WHORING 101:

technique i picked up today by watching a really strong player, do his hcb+K (best off done as they get up, throw out a s.LK for example as they wake up then combo into the hcb+K) and if they block it going into a c.LP->qcb+A/Cx3. works with any move that has quick start up. the recovery on the hcb+K is almost zero

played a bit with yuuki today. hes cooler than i expected and pretty easy to play. looks like he could be quite deadly in the right hands… his fb and some of his charging attacks along with his speed and his very hard to read middle of the air teleport ground attack would seem to make him a good rush down character.

also played lee pai, cooler than i expected but not really my thing… seems a little too technical.

EDIT:

saw a hanzo and fuuma special double assault today… the coolest ive seen so far (out of the iori+kyo, terry+rock, fuuma+hanzo ones). hanzo fireballs them with a bunch of projectiles while fuuma comes down similar to his super in a big ball of fire. the special double assault seem to be only for show as damage from what i could tell was pretty average.

had a nice 1+ hour session today and might go in again later for another go.

played some mid level players and got a 5 streak and another 3 win streak. lost to 2 strong players.

the other day i played a really good mudman… he is quite good it would seem though when i gave him a go i couldnt see his potential. good mudman players seem to jump then do his (i think) d+B which is a very sharp angled arrow attack sorta like dhalsim does with his feet in sf. follow it up with his chain when you hit the ground (dont know how to do it) which seems to be s.LP=>s.LK=>s.HK or something to that effect. jump again and rinse repeat. he also has perhaps the same chain except the final HK is his df+HK slide move which he recovers quickly enough from for it to be used in virtually the same way with the added bonus of hitting m=>m=>l. his fb’s are crazy good for zoning (the air one goes up at about 70 deg and comes down about a screen away or so. his ground one is fast and big. mix in a bit of super and slide and well thats the game ive seen mudman players using.he seems good at zoning and in close but a little weak at mid ranges.

mr big with his super good aa (the pirouette pole attack) and his comboing off c.HK despite how far away the hit box is from his sprite (usually a sweep hitting at that range wouldnt combo into a special in kof of the like) makes him a popular choice. some big players play the waiting game as his aa is almost a given. his rush down on waking up characters is doubly strong because he has quite a few options: overhead (though his overhead is a bit too slow to be useful), c.LK=>super, fakeout into throw, fakeout into throw super (fbx2+K). good wake up game on mrbig.

played as geese and he feels nice, might even try to pick him up. thing is air fbs arent very useful in this game with the scaling effect and the size of a fully scaled screen. not to say they are useless but they are much easier to move away from unlike kof where they force you to move back and block or forward and do something hence the pressure game they make possible. his supers are the “i cant do it reliably motion” one with the beams from the ground. the deadly rave and his 720 throw super. i wouldnt be using many supers if i used him. nor would i bother with his counters despite the fact they are a big part of his game. he might be boring with just his normals and fbs…

haomaru really plays the way he should in this… can turn the tide in seconds with 2 HP’s but gets in trouble when rushed down (the start up on his dp makes it weak as an aa when the opponent keeps jumping from in close). his normals are generally pretty comboable though so he has some nice game with c.HP or s.LK into his qcb+P front flip sword attack.

really not a fan of the new animation for ryos c.HK. looks similar to his kof one though something about it just looks goofy… recovery time on it seems to be nerfed too.

tung is good but i dont see him being much of a contender. his fb’s have no flight as im sure ppl know and arent really that useful. his air attacks are good but hes prone if used from too close a place. thing is distance can be a little hard to judge for stuff like that when you have scaling. his normals are all very short too rangewise which hurts him. his giant beam super is a great weapon though doing something like 25% of a bar in block damage. costs three stocks though. the larger playing area makes it quite easy to get out though (you almost never see anyone try to hit you out of it from 80%+ distance away). his best colors imo are C button which is all black clothes with white hair. his tap move (the hcf+C in rb2) is awesomely good priority and damage wise… thing is i cant get it out in time (though ive seen it done) for it to be a good aa when the opponent is in close, they always end up hitting me first… otherwise an awesome move and can be cancelled into though nothing cancelled will actually combo

played about another hour and a half or so later tonight. beat some good players and was pretty happy with myself got maybe 15 wins with about 5 loses.

used hanzo after watching a good hanzo player and sorta figured him out a bit more. his j.LK has good priority and can be used to cross up… nice easy combo is j.LK(crossup)=>s.LPx2=>dp. his rdp+K move is pretty good, the L version is punishable though and the heavy leaves him falling from the sky ala tung when he misses with his dp+K. his power palm attack is not actually a move but a f+HP and seems to be part of a 2 part HP chain (HP=>f+HP). his fb, the double version is good as the LP one has a big delay between first and second fireball making it very hard to jump over/read. the heavy version throws a barrage of 3 or so stars. im still not sure how to do his airteleport which is very useful as you can attack straight out of it… his c.HK sucks though his j.HK isnt too bad (the active time is very short on it though, he puts it out then pulls it back in very quickly). he has two versions of his spin with blades move the normal one (close to the ground done with hcb+K) and the one he does about 1.5 sprites high off the ground done with the same motion and P.

hao is cool but too slow for me… this total rush down game makes using slower characters a more technical game. you really have to use the right moves at the right times when using slower characters.

the system is total rush down/offence. the only way to whore the timer is to be ahead with 20 seconds or so left (considerably ahead) and to runaway from there… otherwise running and turtling will just get you rushed down. really well done system wise and im hesistant to say it but this might be the perfect rushdown game in terms of the way the system works… you have to be relentless and create openings… that is the style of game i like. mistakes arent punished as much as in say third strike where a gap in your defence can cost you a lot of bar. you can always tag out and recover anyways so eating one big combo isnt gonna put you too much behind. thing is combos arent that damaging from what i can tell compared to kof anyways. in kof a nice combo will do 60+. i dont think ive seen a combo that really does more than 40-50 in this and even those are uncommon… ill have to pay more attention to damage tomorrow just to double check.

kim is becoming my most hated character… i swear kim players are all kof retards and all they do is use his d-u+K as an anti air, his s.LP to poke and jump around all day trying to cross up with j.LP then combo into c.LK=>qcb+Kx3(??)=>air ranbu super… damage has been toned down from kof 2k3 but still the way hes played is irritatingly one dimensional and i havent seen anyone use him in a more interesting way…

my favourite tung combo is (crossup)j.HK=>c.HP=>qcb+A or on an opponent as they wake up in the corner (jump straight up)j.LK(it has to be deep)=>c.HP=>qcb+A. he does pretty good damage and his button mash move if mastered can be a great tool! still think hes sorta lowish tier wise though. thing is as ive said before the difference between tiers is gonna be quite low in this game.

When i get some spare cash im getting that mook, im not totaly sure on mooks, do you get extras like a dvd?
or would that be something Separate, bah it’s better not to copy stuff from vids anyway, better to learn the game yourself like back when SF 1st came out, nowdays everbody is a clone.

jin twins are quite popular. chonrei moreso than chonshu though. they do well. chonshu’s teleport is better than in rb2. they both have nasty urien style games after throwing out the super fb that sits in one place. jump in, overhead or low attack for guaranteed hits.

iori whoring might be a bit of a problem played against someone who was going hard with it today… he was a pretty average player otherwise. i played 2 hours or so today. using mr karate i can c.LP my way out of the trap, roberts c.LK however wasnt fast or strong enough to get me out of it… the guy could pretty much keep doing it and jumping up was about my only option (jumping forward leaves you prone on the other side most of the time).

saw some cool fuuma action. his fb is slow and high enough to play a nice rush in game after it with a crouching LK. might even be able to get some c.LK=>combo action going with it. fuuma and hanzo are nice.

best player ive seen is mr “no deodorant” at monte carlo who has an 80% win ration with over 500 battles on his card. ive beaten him a few times though his wins far outnumber mine in our contest.

ive won a few using yuuki now and hes not that hard to get used to. the only real combo ive got down with him is a simple but decent damage j.HK(crossup)=>s.HK=>qcb+A. his qcb+K in the air has near zero recovery so i usually go into c.LKx2=>c.HK after it though the c.HK links it doesnt combo.

mr karate has grown on me and ive added him to the list of ppl im confident using in vs games. you can do some weird cancel thing from his new lunging punch move (qcb+P) into his ryo style kick move (b-f+K).

terry has some beasty juggles, double power geyser juggled into buster wolf.

kaede has a nasty game winning combo, c.LK=>c.LP=>three hit move=>super cancel into the giant sword chop super for nice nice damage (1/4-1/3 of a bar!).
