Any tips against Ghostrider? Hulk against Ghostrider is the most frustrating match I’ve ever experienced.
So I discovered a neat little gimmick using a lockdown assist and the Impact Punch. Call the lockdown assist and hold the Impact Punch for full charge. Time it so that the punch ends JUST BEFORE the assist’s attack ends. This ensures that the opponent is in much less guardstun. Instantly go into Gamma Tornado and it will grab them.
Advancing guard will ruin this if they happen to do it on your punch. Advancing guard on ONLY the assist has no negative effects and the grab still catches. This is best done on incoming characters.
Also, you’re not actually cancelling the punch. You’re still letting it come out. They won’t be in heavy blockstun though due to the assist.
So I did some quick testing last night and I have confirmed that you do NOT need a dedicated assist to relaunch from an airthrow. The new decreased charge time from Gamma Wave allows you to pick up the opponent with nearly any assist.
Air Throw -> :l: Gamma Wave -> :a1: (Dark Hole) -> cr. :h:, cr. :s:, etc.
This even works for other assists like Ghost’s Chain of Rebuttal…
Air Throw -> :l: Gamma Wave -> :a1: (Chain) -> Dash, j , j :h:, j :s:, cr. :h:, cr. :s:, etc.
Now, for the command grab, you still may need an assist to help with the OTG, but I am not 100% certain of that yet.
I was able to Gamma Choke into gamma charge -> gamma crush a few times. (I know it is not ideal)
I think with enough practice, if you fully mash the Choke, gamma charge (start holding back), gamma wave, you MIGHT be able to pick them up.
