The lead composer for SFV is not the SF4 guy, but Masahiro Aoki. Also mentions what other work the composers have done for Capcom. I’m guessing Zac Zinger was the one responsible for Karin’s standout theme, given his jazz expertise.
I was kinda surprised by the supposed ‘change’ of style of Fukasawa. So it was NOT him after all… I always said people confusing SF4 with SF5 ost are delusional.
Well he still does tracks of course, but not the majority of them. If I had to guess he’s probably the one responsible for Rashidoooo, Cammy, Laura, etc. Those sound more like his handiwork than, say, Ken’s theme.
I wonder which guys on the team composed the more guitar-ish tracks like Apprentice Valley, Ken’s theme, Main Menu theme and Character Select theme. They should’ve had that person direct the entire soundtrack of the game
Can’t agree more. Those all stand out to me as having the best sense of melody and mood. They remind me of SFII which is by far still the best SF OST to me, nostalgia glasses aside.
You know what I miss? Brass. The CPSII era was really heavy on 'dat brass and it sounded great. Don’t really know how else to articulate it, but I’m sure you guys know what I mean.
Those are most likely Aoki. The guy is an expert in electric guitar.

Lol I must be the only one that actually likes Laura’s theme. I mean yes when I first heard it, it sounded like a trainwreck. But listening to it more, I can fuck with it. Yall ain’t got no rhythm…

Like I said above, the second half is fine to me. That beginning is all kinds wack.
Made an account just to voice my opinion about this game soundtrack. As I a anime fighter(BlazBlue, Persona, and Guilty Gear)lover I am use to lyrics and heavy metal being in the soundtrack. The last GOOD street fighter soundtrack was SF3 IMO. Just got you in the mood and it was memorable .
When you go look at some of the reveal trailers for SF5 like dhalsim and Mika. I’m like wow does this music sound boss. Then you get in game you hear some none sense .
Do you guys remember this ? When capcom had bumping soundtrack for a fighter.

Laura’s theme sounds like something I’d do in fruity loops if I was extremely bored and uninspired.

laura’s theme isn’t bad, it’s pretty normal imo nothing abstract etc just textbook brasil music.
