You know things change when ROBOTRON isn’t creating these Michigan threads anymore and original AA / Flint / D-town players aren’t posting. I truly miss the drama.
Any of the MP/Sag/etc people wanna play for a couple hours tonight? I’m actually free for once. We can probably play at the Midland Mall (for a small fee) or somewhere else.
Find me on AIM or pm me I guess.
BtW if anyone cares SF4: Zangief, T6: King, Armor King
Hey yo it’s me, it’s me, it’s RDG (RUSH DOWN GOD) VDO here just wanted to say…
Indeed 01-04 was an INSANE time for MI! Be it comp, rivalries, Money Matches, or whatever! That was truly a great time to be apart of the gaming scene here and for those who didn’t get the opp to witness it, live it, or participate in it I must say and TOTALLY agree with Raul Clayton, and Kevin…YOU MISSED IT! Being 1 of the combatants of the MI realm, I can truly say that those were some of bestsess years for MI gaming community! Clayton said it best…some of the memories arent that good but they ARE apart of history! I wouldnt trade it for anything! Alot of people have branched off and have become scarce since Wizzards closed (even some of the top names) and can’t really blame them for Wizzards was the home away from home for hundreds of people including me, Hell my daughter started walkin in that mutha for Pete sake! Oh btw Kevin the Grudge Match that Massu and I set up STILL to this day gets alot of review and props for making history! I still can’t believe the hype that shit got LMAO (T.K.K was soooo mad) LMAO!! Alot of guys still play competitively and just for shits and giggles, ME I still play competitively, whenever given the chance I still go outta town and wreck shop! I know T.K still bangs even tho I haven’t spoken to him since Final Round LAST YEAR, but we have a few up and coming murderers like Antwan, Josh, and a few others (forgive me for not remembering the names I’m old) that seem to wanna get their name out there. I wish we could some how ALLLLL get together for 1 more big tournament with all the hype games from past and present and just go at it for old time sake! Anyway it’s just wishful thinkin cause even if somebody did take the time and effort to try and put together something like that how many people would REALLY show?? Really?? Anyways I hardly ever post in this thread for my own reasons but I always and forever will represent Detroit, Michigan baby! N.W.O 4 Life!!!
Man, you guys are making me feel bad for being in middle school at the time. That’s even before i started playing melee lol
Wish I coulda been a part of the scene then.
VDO, you should come to the next Michigan Masters. I’ll have Marvel if enough people want to play. I don’t know if you play anything else, but…yeah
I was lurking SRK in 2k4, I remember all I played Was GGXX and CvS2(barely) back then. I also remember talking to Clayton about evo 2k4 and then like months later I seen that Daigo vs Justin video and I got in to 3s. Sadly though I had never even heard of that game before then.
I was always scared to come out to the AA tournaments, because I played on pad then and I didn’t know what to expect.
Oh yeah and today is my Birthday I’m Officially 24 years old.
What up, Brian? This is Markus. I’ll be there for the SF4 tourney, so keep me informed.

Anyone want to attend this tourney?
Oh man, best memory is just looking at that 2001 midwest championships photo of flint, detroit, and saginaw (just me tho, ha) crews. so funny, plus I still remember first tournament at wizzards. I remember it being pretty hype and we were there for CvS1. yes…1. Massu sent me some message that was like, i hear you guys play up there, come if you like but you prolly suck or something mean like that. I get down there and hes not mean at all, really nice. Then I have to play some mildly drunk guy first round and hes staring me down literally and talking crap during the match. Hahaha, so I just tick command grab him until he walks away from the machine, doesnt even finish the match, walks out of wizzards and possibly leaves? and a lot of dudes in the crowd start cheering. haha.
Clayton- rapping using peoples names at dennys.
I miss the hype crowds surrounding the marvel machine at wizzards. =(
Why the fuck wasn’t I born in the 80s?
I’d be down to go, but I’m pretty much broke ^_^;
i used to lurk the threads back then…hell i remember my first time going to wizards…and got creamed by ians little brother is mvc2…shits funny now that i think about it.
Those years were truly the best. Going to Wizzards for CvS1 and meeting Massu w/ Jen, only to meet VDO and J-Day. Mike (Jinmaster) always asking Jon and I for quarters. MvC2 being the most hyped up and crowded game around. CvS2 came along with Clayton. CvS2 years were some of the best. Brighton/AA and Flint would always invite us to play on console. Detroit would invite us to the tournaments out of state. NWO tournament was the best. Even the Trailer was hype with the REVEAL. I think Hollow said he still had the footage for it.
I remember GGXX was that hot garbage that only Saginaw, Brighton, and AA played seriously. Speaking of AA, I remember that feud that happened when they got MvC2 and some scrub named the_cheese was putting together a MvC2 and going back and forth with cheese_master (Bhaskar) about who was the best. Only for the tournament to fail miserably and the_cheese never appeared on SRK again.
Flint’s A,F.E. had a great run too. DDR killed it IMO. I wish I could go on.
Oh man, nothing beat the hype crowds around the fucking Puzzle Fighter machine. That shit was just ridiculous :wow:
I just remember the first couple CvS2 tourneys at Wizzards, when they were one of the first arcades in the country to get that game. Haha, first tourneys I went to, and they were pretty huge…what did they have, like 40+ people there? Hell the one at Christmastime took two days to play through completely, and they had two set ups for that shit if I’m remembering right. I also recall that as being the last time I did any good in a tourney, haha, like 5th place or some shit. In retrospect, I should have never gotten on that S-groove, but damn if it wasn’t fun to play.
Juan, I’ve told people about that grudge match a few times over the years, and every single person who hears about it thinks it was the sweetest fucking thing ever and has no idea how you guys managed to pull it off so perfectly. Hell I remember Chad talking about how he was worried that his side would end up winning even with him throwing his portions of the match, it was so close. And I think my favorite memories still come from the huge crowds over at Robos every Friday when Wizzards closed for the night, like 20, 30 people over to play fighters and KOF 2001 in particular. Those team games he would set up in that game were just too awesome.
These new guys definitely missed out, haha. If only I had the time to devote to getting good at the games and to get out to tourneys these days, but it’s just been crazy.
Well if no one wants to play live I’ll be on XBL/Aim all night probably for online play (T6 or SF4 or some other game)
That 40+ CvS2 tournament, I still have on VHS from when Dre was still recording and selling his warez. I tied 5th in that tournament. I think that was the 8+ hour tournament with the finals being Julian vs. Juan. It didn’t end until 5am. You had people sleeping in between arcade cabinets. LOL!
CvS2 also had alot of people coming out of state to play. Especially the top players like Ricky Ortiz for those big payout tournies at Wizzards. Ari (Floe) was also at Wizzards since those CvS1 tournaments. I can also still remember Articninja from Canada with his trademark Venom shirt. That man was practically in Michigan every week. Massu and Eugene knew how to throw tournaments back then. Even the APEX tournies were fun. Always checking the ranking by regions on a weekly basis. Nate from Flint even hosted that one in his basement, which had a hell of a turnout.
Uber, you get props for being the only S-Groove player all those years. Clayton gets props for getting banned the most & having the best secondary accounts.

Most of them had a story behind them too. Obviously some are obvious but one story I dont think I ever told is, back when I was a model are dude telling us how to work it, was like even if you dont have a job you like or something, or get stuck doing something you dont want to do like working with “peachs” you make it work. Or something like that. Of course TPK was VDO TKK and the mail man carl malone put together in some video game DBZ fusion account. Or… something. lol I wish I could remember all the other ones… I remember actually giving away a couple of the accounts to other people to use eventually.
Also I should say actually wizard has threated I thought to ban this account, and ban me from all EVOs after I posted how ID admitted to me they knew in EVO2k3 the stuff was lagging the whole time. And when I tried to post how they let there friends of EVO play on Japanese version of GGXX where some characters were better. But wouldnt let anyone else ha… It was like… dude I havnt entered any tourny in years, I wasnt planning on going to EVO anyway lol.
GG still could have been something in MI if everyone played it at the same time. But there was always some group leaving when another started or something.
I still remember I didnt even know about tournaments till CVS1 came out, and I ended up getting second to dre, and found out that ratio ones were good lol. Then people said I was good and I should go to some MWC thing coming up. So I went and I remember doing really well in casual beating some supposed top players of the game(names with held lol) but the tournament just would not start, and I eventually got sick and got stuck in the corner sitting down, or laying in the daytona machine or something. And then I ended up losing pretty quick in the tourney. I got really fucked up later on and could barely stand and ended up missing a week work, with kidney stones or some shit. I remember I didnt know anything about SRK back then but eventually I found it and went found the MI thread only to find the MI guys talking shit about me, saying I was crying in the corner cuz I didnt do well and all this other shit…
I think this is why I never will really trust anyone from here lol… ha… There I go again making a fun conversation sound depressing and pessimistic. But thats who I am lol.
sneaks out
oops forgot happy birthday KOH.
sneaks out again
I didn’t think you remembered that Bennigins incident when I mooned the AA guys and Bhaskar was chasing me through the parking lot. Yeah, the AA SC2 tournaments were fun as hell. Especially with CvS2 and MvC2 tournies going on at the same time. It was pretty funny when Scott and I formed the Yun Sung 4 life team. The only problem we had with one AA SC2 tournament was the Bay City Pizza Incident. Assholes left without paying and AA, Saginaw, Flint, and Brighton had to split the bill.
Soul Calibur 2 era is also known as the Mad Fucking Gay era. Team MFG for life! MFGYoshi and his stupid ring out sets ups for Rainbow Drop. Bhaskar had me cracking up.
lol was it bennigins? Well the reason it comes up sometimes(i think this is the right story anyway) , is because I guess darryl was there(i dunno if you ever met him met him). And well darryl did not like me for a long time I guess, because the first time we met was that night. He was having a horrible day I guess and then the wrong food kept coming out for him. Then as the case happened to be back then someone asked me to tell a “story” to break the ice. Well… darrly was one of the people that didnt like those “stories”… so he was pissed. And then when everyone was leaving, he saw you mooning everyone. And he was like fuck these ******* or something? lol
It was something like that lol. Anyway it was a bad first impression for him that day I think lol.
Yea SC2 days I remember those too. I remember MI actaully had a pretty strong group back then. You, jo-el, jon, some flint guys, etc etc all did pretty well in tournies… Even matt finally had his chance to be good in a game. But as usually matt “let” his personal demons get the better of him and that was the end of that. And yea fuck those baycity dudes… I still remember that one dude who was rushs(?)bf or something. Dude tried to beat up the machine and shit… People were like he tried to bizounce the machine haha…
Actually saying that, me and the AA guys still use some of those phrases from back in the day. Bizouncing yourself, and massu fireballs to this day. lol Dunno if anyone else does.
Perfect Legend: Yes I will go to that.
You giving rides? :lovin:
