Whether or not you get a bigger or smaller than normal monster is pure RNG.

The size is apparently decided after the map loads.

I use 2 piece Diablos with a Minds Eye decoration so sharpness is fairly irrelevant. I’ll link my full build at some point but basically it’s elementless arena great sword, crit draw, quick sheath and level 3 focus.

Two piece bonus from Diablos is not worth it. The damage bonus it gives for the lowered sharpness just isn’t worth the armor pieces you wear for it, and there are far better ways to get damage. Furthermore, Great Sword mainly does large, singular hits, so it doesn’t have to worry about sharpness going down too much.

Already got the ignition GS. The stats on it are awesome. The negative affinity and shitty sharpness should be easy fixes.

You wear the pieces for the built in abilities and the bonus is just a perk. Free damage is free damage.

You’re talking about the Bludgeoner set bonus, right? I don’t think it actually gives you a net damage boost when your sharpness damage goes down. Not sure how far you are into the game but there are better armor sets than the Diablos armors for Great Sword. Not sure if you’re making mixed sets either.

Im Hunter rank 140 with gold HR. I don’t think I have any sets that aren’t mixed.

I just checked the set and it doesn’t have two piece Diablos any more anyway. It does have Diablos Nero Helm.

That’s… an interesting build, to say the least. Can’t say I’m a fan of old school Crit Draw/Focus build anymore though.
