The Monster Hunter Thread: A Whole New World

Can the tickets be handed in to get anything better than gems? the prompts always say hand tickets into the smithy and he’ll forge something special. I’m taking that means the researchers set?

You use melding for getting a monster gem you want about once a week, or you use it for post game where you reroll a bunch of decorations for a chance to get more decorations. I wouldn’t recommend using melding for creating decorations since the ones offered are so common that you’ll find them eventually.

Anybody get the sweet new shades?

Slayed Xeno’jiva and finally finished the main story-line last!!

After putting in 100+ hours in on this game the end game cut-scene sequences was just rewarding and satisfying:

I haven’t been this hooked on a non-FG Capcom game this much since Resident Evil 5.

Nergigante is a cunt. I’ll have fun learning this matchup. Same with Odogaron, really.

Got done with Tempered Kirin, the biggest pop of my life. Was stuck on him for 3 days, got so close to the win so many times but someone or the other would get one shot. Had to play the dark souls poke game to cheese out that W.

Getting bored of the Ig so switching to dual blades. Got the fire and ice one. Question, which are the best dual blades and Glaives?

I was running Kirin ig with lvl 5 thunder till now.

Also if you guys are playing, throw me an add at: rom_freak. Would love to squad up.

Add PSN: SabinFrost. I don’t mind using voice chat and can run through some stuff with you if you want. I’m HR90 something at the moment.

Neato man, I am going online in a while.
Would love some pointers, I am still very green.

The Nergigante weapons are the closest to fitting that description. They have the second highest sharpest, the biggest base damage of it’s weapon class and the highest dragon element and elderseal. Even with those it’s best to have other weapons. Not every monster is weak to dragon.

What does Elderseal do, exactly?

It basically shuts down the elder dragons’ special ability to an extent from what I’ve heard.

Sweet, I did check out the nerg IG and it really seemed deadly. Where does dragon fit in the elemental rock paper scissors? Also are the evade extension and invulnerability skills worth the investment?

My personal feeling on the matter is that you want to build insect glaive to maximize the potential of the jumping attacks first and foremost through the Master Mounter and Airborne skills. I wouldn’t go with resistance for IG since you really ought not to be getting hit in the first place (that’s the goal, at least). Handicraft, Speed Sharpening, and Marathon Runner are also skills that I personally have wanted to invest in. Your mileage may vary.

Yup I was looking into those skills earlier.
I am trying to switch my IG style these days. I usually stay on the ground and get all the buffs and then dodge combo dodge them till it runs out. If the bones go hard, I switch to jumping triangle to get the mount instead of flying around.

I am aiming for the max handicraft, also looking into the mounting skills too. There is so much mix and match from the armor side, it’s really fun and consuming. I’ll switch out of the Kirin armor I am running once I switch my blade. Gonna run the nergi one.

My personal armor loadout is Lumu body, Legiana arms, Gajau feet (Aquatic Expert is a really useful skill in almost any zone), Nergigante belt, and I swap out head pieces. I’m currently using the shades.

What weapon you running? Seems like a decent set. I liked the glasses and the eye patch but they get in they way of true fashion souls. The bug head piece seems really kewl.

Also what’s the point of guild cards? Still beats me.

My weapons are underdeveloped as fuck, but right now I’m rocking a Datura Blade for the poison that works really damn well at the nascent stages of high rank. My goal, natch, is to have the Nergigante weapon because it just looks wicked awesome and has killer stats. There are a few others I’m eyeballing, though, like Odogaron.

Out off all the weapons I see, Odogaron ones are usually the most visceral looking and sounding. The dual blade version is great too.

I remember running the datura blade, it was really fun while it lasted. I farmed up the Tyrannus glaive during my beginning HR run and used it as a stock one till I got my preferred glaive. The raw damage on it is great despite the -ve affinity.

What hr you at atm? Soloing big monsters with glaive is a breeze(once u die enough ;_; )

It’s pretty low. The exact number is kind of embarrassing, so I won’t post it, but I plan on cranking out a ton of it before the Final Fantasy XIV patch comes out on Tuesday.

Nah it isn’t relax.
I though the same but as long as you’re doing the story your HR is capped while your actual HR is being stored. Once I beat the game my Hr shot straight from 15 to 29, the next cap and post 29 straight to 43.

So you really don’t need to fret over it, I wanted to know which assigned quest you’re basically on.
