The Monster Hunter Thread: A Whole New World

Well, I started a 2nd game file using the LBG. I spent a long ass time in the training arena and doing some quests with the lbg, hbg and bow but the lbg had the best of both worlds for me. I have pretty much NEVER played as a gunner in MH before. It’s…quite different.

Had my first encounter with the B-52 earlier today when I did Pukei-Pukei Wildspire Waste assignment.

Bless you all for the bring dung pods advice…

Ahh bodied tempered Kirin. That’s a fucking fight whoo.

Used switch axe too, feels good. Thought I’d wimp out and use bow. Not today Kirin, hold this manly ass switch axe.

They only get a health increase, no defense increase. Source: me fighting Vaal 100 times in multiplayer and then soloing him only to see the same exact damage numbers.

many players are already so high ranked with their gear that is whenever I join a lvl 6-7 quest they already killed the monster during the first 5 mins before I can reach it lol

Yeah I wouldn’t do sos’s at all and just try to join lower rank sessions

This!!! I joined a tempered teostra with some Jap players. Yo, they bodied the shit out of him!

Will we get dlc skins for weapons to make them outrageous and crazy like in the 3DS games? Capcom’s sudden obsession with hyperrealism is making the games visually somewhat boring as in the cases of mvci in general and the weapon selection in Monster Hunter World. They need to leave that photorealism shit to Namco, except in the case of their own Biohazard/RE franchise. Not every franchise needs to look totally realistic with no stylistic embellishments. Kinda glad Capcom isn’t handling Dbz…they’d insist it look like DBZ Evolution.

What are you talking about? Monster Hunter always had a hyper realism look to it. At least it’s not like the first two games where the art direction was generic and lacked any kind of style. They stuck a good balance from 3rd gen games.

The weapons, guy. My only gripe with World is the first sentence of my post. The rest of the graphics are fine. Theres no more of the “holy shit, the weapon that guy has looks CRAZY…I want it.” you got from 4u - XX. All the weapons look like “this is a sword/knife/axe/bow/gun/hammer. It does what you’d expect.” Your only enticement to use weapons now is strictly stats since everything looks so plain and similar.

It feels good to have both versions of the bow guns as a secondaries to my dual blades, which by themselves are pretty godly!!

I’ve have Pulsar Hatchets 3 and Sworn rapiers.
So thunder and water are covered for now…

I’m preparing to upgrade the rapiers since I just hit High Rank and…

Back to the bowguns, I have both ore & bone paths for LBG & HBG.

Grinding to get the Shattercryst HBG, and sticking with KADCHI_Line for the bone HBG.

LBGs: Thunderblitz 2 and Hunter’s Rifle.

I’ll more than likely start up a 2nd bow gun and…maybe "bow"only play-through; since now I know what paths to take.

I disagree that stats are the only reason even with the game as it is now(Flying Kadachi Bow, Snowfletcher, Vaal Hazak Hammer, etc.), BUT I agree there aren’t enough unique models.

Off topic as fuck but I suddenly remembered about this argument I was having with psychojosh a year ago about the possibility of a MH hunter as a character for mvci(obviously before it became a reality).

He had the most unreasonable arguments for why that was both not going to happen and that it would be lame. “Generic armors”. “No signature moves”. “Boring weapons”.
The best part?

He himself said he’s never played MH.

That’s why you shouldn’t argue with idiots.

sheeeeit, Odogaron is awesome, man… it’s easily the most agile thing I’ve seen yet in the game. It’s like the player is a regular human trying to fight Wolverine… after Wolverine is doped up on a few pounds of performance-enhancing drugs. I managed to beat him just 1 time so far solo, and that felt more like luck since he took a bit of damage from fighting something else, and a lot of the fight was not in the poisonous area fortunately.

The Switch-axe is still my preferred shit…I upgraded again recently… annoying thing is that I have one from the Barroth tree that has lightning and does paralysis…but it has -20% affinity…I tried to roll with it but I just can’t stand that concept of occasionally doing less damage like a negative critical…I went back to the regular ol’ Bone™ version… I was able to upgrade that again and there’s no negative affinity on that. Then againnnn… I just noticed our friend “Odie” there is apparently weak to thunder though…

random epic shit—fighting a Rathalos a little while ago, it appeared he knocked some rocks loose or something and all this water came flushing through…pushing us both off the edge… I fell for a long time then grapple-hooked to one of those smaller flying creatures… then jumped from it all the way down on top of Rathalos for a mounted attack combo…I got a clip of that I might link up later.

Odogaron…aka…**Clifford **

is an awesome fight and yet its one that’s a P.I.T.A.!!
He is just so agile and inflicts bleed damage which just shuts your offense down full stop.
And I always, end up in the poisonous area & run into the Great Girros clique when fighting him!!

And when he goes into Berserker Barrage mode, pray that your stamina is full!

Coincidentially I just did the first odogaron story hunt on my LBG file…and the very first carve I got was a plate.
I’m a happy duck.

Garron is kind of close to Zinogre in terms of size and agility. I hope they add Zinogre at some point.

Has anyone used melding? they have some gems which i need. They required 100 melding points along with a wyvern recommendation… which i’m reluctant to part with.

I used melding to hand in golden tickets to get the monster gems I want.
