I went back to my previous baby, the Switch-Axe earlier tonight… it’s just too satisfying; I can’t give it up…bone tree, rarity 3; forgot the actual name of it (*another minor thing—would be nice if we could name the weapons and slightly customize them, like at least color choices)…went into some more random SOS with folks… last one of the night was a full party bullying the shit out of ol’ Pookie. He never had a chance, man.
*that achievement for mounting a monster must be busted… I’ve done that probably 10 to 15 times at least by now…and still don’t have that one.

I currently run either of the following armor sets:
Legiana: ‘Good Luck’ (2) is nice for quest reward stuffs and ‘Bow Charge Plus’ (4) increases max charge level by one.
:alpha: set gives you ‘Divine Blessing’+3, ‘Ice Attack’+3, and ‘Evade Window’+3, besides some other skills and no slots.
:beta: set gives you the above skills at +2, but pretty decent slot potential. Probably gonna have to make a Blessing Charm for interim ‘Divine Blessing’+3 though.
Rath Soul: ‘Critical Element’ (2) for increased element damage on critical hit and ‘Ballistics’ (4) for shortened max damage range activation.
:alpha: set gives you ‘Intimidator’+3, ‘Windproof’+3, ‘Focus’+2, ‘Critical Boost’+1, ‘Free Elem’+1, and ‘Piercing Shots’+1, besides two single slots.
:beta: set nixes ‘Intimidator’+3 and ‘Piercing Shots’+1, with the rest being ‘Focus’+2, ‘Windproof’+2, ‘Critical Boost’+1, and ‘Free Elem’+1, along with decent slot potential.

I mostly did High Rank expeditions for both (provided they appeared) until I got the optional quests for them (in 7-star) and/or some investigations w/ (good) reward possibilities, then I did those instead.
Another noob question if I want to use different weapons in a tree do I have to buy the starting weapons for the trees?
so I’m assuming the “Pukei Pukei Sac” is indeed different from “Poison Sac”… this damn item is so elusive it’s annoying, man… I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve broken this asswipe’s face now and it just never drops… maybe if I capture him…? (since you apparently get more stuff that way) Last session I ended up killing him too fast though, so that might be a bit tricky as well.

Whatever you want to end up using in whatever branch, have the mats and money to make it.
You can (to an extent) rollback to do another branch/route, but higher-end stuff is full commitment of the mats used (the game tells you).
For the most part, you’ll probably end up making/buying a number of base weapons, then develop them along whatever path you’re interested in using.
If you have investigations for Pukei, do them for a chance of (usually better) extra reward options.
Capturing is always the way to go. The tailriders also bring back good stuff.
Some weapons you’ll need to create a base if they don’t branch from iron or bone.

You can buy or forge. Some weapons later on in the tree can be forged directly instead of needing an upgrade. There’s a little hammer icon over the weapon icon in the tree if this is possible, or you can just look at the forge weapon list

Ryu costume quest is fucking annoying since you have to do it multiple times to get enough “SFV tickets” to craft the costume. Made worse by the loadouts they give you - at least for me since the frickin’ HBG they give doesn’t have shield mods (might as well have given an LBG if that was going to be the case).
I thought if you had a SFV save it just gave it to you? I haven’t been on in a day and a bit.
