The HR7 key quests managed to finally cause morale to drop within my play group. So far, we haven’t had too much trouble beyond progressing through the ranks outside of playing over wi-fi and the stress of raged Shagaru Magala.
Kushala and Mohran were a cakewalk, but Teostra and Akantor are where the salt comes in.
Besides the two carts due to the fact it was an unfamiliar challenge, we were doing pretty well on the Akantor fight. We popped the tail off of the sucker and I had him looking me dead on while my pals carved, but he turned right around and fired a windtunnel at the both of 'em for the last cart. It would have made me a little less salty if we hadn’t made a point not to touch the tail, but cats got too greedy.
Teostra was pretty much the same, though we put on more runs since it’s a pretty fun fight. We get the bastard limping and then he stuns one of us before doing the supernova attack for the last kill. We all decided to call it a day after that shit.
Shoutouts to my mate saying “Its just a gathering quest” and ending up fighting a Gravi-whatever (grey dragon has mouth lazers) in starter gear before my first caravan quest and with him wielding fire weapons.
Can you just run up and jump onto a fallen monster’s back after a knockdown while your weapon is put away (for the speed to dash up to the beast before it can rise), or does it need to be drawn w/you jumping from a higher ground?
Attacks that apply mounting (works like a status effect) cause a special knockdown that allows for mounting. You cannot just mount off any knockdown.
Only the player who landed the final mounting hit can mount the monster. Sometimes a monster will fall over further away from that player and they will have to walk closer to it to mount. Weapon sheathed or not doesn’t matter.
If a monster is knocked over for the mount but is not mounted (either the player doesn’t walk close enough, or it’s stuck in a wall and can’t be mounted), the mount is lost and mount resistance still increases.
I’m curious to know whether or not MHX is going to be another mainline game, or another spinoff series. I wouldn’t mind either way, but I could see some people getting pissy about the new moves, or even the “style” system.
I’m on the quest where you have to bring back 4 Gargwa eggs…and this asshole Jagia keeps chasing me. I gathered 3 eggs, fought the Jagia till he limped away…and I’m not satisfied. I’m gonna get that 4th egg and just stand there with it until the Jagia comes out. I want to END his ass.
Edit: fucker kept running. Had to complete the quest before time ran out.
X is being handled by a different team from the previous games. The director is the old director of the Freedom games (he hasn’t worked on the series, or been credited with anything at Capcom since then), and the head producer was on the design team for the original MH. It’s going to be a very throwback game (all of those towns from the trailer were from previous games).
5 is eventually happening, though I don’t think Capcom will release it to this generation of handhelds. As for whether X becomes it’s own series probably comes down to how well it’s received.
I never got too heavy into the series until recently, so that’s definitely enlightening. Now that I think about it, that’s a pretty clever way to explain the X(Cross).
