Flying monsters in this game aren’t nearly as much of a pain as in previous games, with the amount of walls and ledges around. Before that you’d just wait around or use moves that hit really high; which were usually the most unsafe and would get you in deep shit if you mistimed or missed.
when you’re out on quest or expeditions you are stuck with what you left with from base.
so if you’re not feeling a certain weapon just go to your equipment box and choose something else
you can switch weapons whenever you want. You start with all 14 weapons in your equipment box. You can switch mid quest by going inside the tent in the base camp.
It’s almost essential for team fights. If people are making a 4 man they’ll run it. I honestly think the only reason gun usage is low right now is new players coming to grips with the crafting.
It’s low damage compared to the vial weapons, the greatsword, HBG etc. It’s a shredding weapon like dual blades and sns. You can still get fast times with it, low raw damage doesn’t = weak.
Oof. Got to the nergigante quest, fucker triple carted me with that dive attack. I guess you really can’t roll away from it; so it’s either shield or leap??
Yeah, but you gotta believe there are a few people out there who switched to it mostly because they saw some speedrunners abusing slicing shot to flinch lock stuff.
Sheeeeeeit, ok the bow/arrows is definitely my jam now… I was just trying out of curiosity last weekend and ended up absolutely loving it… I haven’t gone back to anything else since. Last I played, I finally got the hood, made out of parts from our ol’ pal “Pookie”…which is perfect for a Green Arrow-ish kinda archery-superhero style there. Overtime has been insane lately so obviously I’m still in the early-game stuff here… this weekend will be my first chance to play again since last weekend, actually. cheh, I’ll bet they still haven’t fixed the damn co-op yet…
…it’s a shame the Insect Glaive is a bit on the weak side; that is another weapon that immediately jumps out as interesting to me…but yeah, for now it’s the bow and my 2nd choice is switch axe.
As the game evolves I expect them to get more popular as the Asians use them a lot and people will realise why.
Learning to craft ammo and how mods work, how to gear for them etc will change a lot. I think as more people beat the story and start looking for groups they’ll pick up ranged weapons.
@Million it’s not weak it just has low raw damage. It’s good for abusing elemental weaknesseses, status effects etc.
You can use that style of weapons to easily sleep monsters for example and hit them with mega barrel bombs. The mobility the Glaive has is very useful in some fights as well, so is the easy staggers.
It can be hard to get into, but once you’re used to it and understand how the Kinsects work, it demolishes everything. The plan is to 1. Get your buffs: Red for damage, Orange for Defense, White for Speed 2. Go HAM. Use the Vault to get into the air and divebomb the monster until you get the mount, then violate it once it’s down. Because of its speed and multihitting attacks, it’s really good for applying status conditions.
