Monster Hunter: World - Paris Games Week 2017 Trailer
A PlayStation 4-only beta for Monster Hunter: World will be available exclusively for PlayStation Plus users from December 9 to 12, Capcom announced during the PlayStation Media Showcase at Paris Games Week 2017. Additionally, special Horizon: Zero...
Beta
Available starting December 9, players from around the world can experience three fearsome quests as they join up with other hunters online or take on the beasts alone in the exclusive beta for PlayStation Plus users.
Running for three days, hunters participating in the beta can tackle the hungry Great Jagras, a scavenger capable of swallowing other monsters whole, or the fiery and territorial Anjanath, both of which roam the dense and complex eco-system within the Ancient Forest.
For those feeling brave enough they can adventure to the desert land of the Wildspire Waste where the armored Barroth can be found lurking in the muddy waters, waiting to unleash its devastating charge attack.
Horizon: Zero Dawn Collaboration
Horizon: Zero Dawn ’s young machine hunter Aloy comes to life in Monster Hunter: World for PS4 with Aloy’s bow and full armor set as well as Palico armor that can make the player’s Palico look like a machine from Horizon: Zero Dawn .
The full armor set will make any player character look like Aloy from head to toe, including facial likeness.
After completing the Horizon: Zero Dawn collaboration event quest, which is planned to be distributed to online players post launch, special materials can be obtained to forge collaboration equipment.
By bringing the necessary materials to the in-game facility (Smithy), players will be able to forge the Horizon: Zero Dawn collaboration equipment.
Details on the exact timing and availability of the Horizon: Zero Dawn collaboration quest will be revealed soon.

Quests
The beta features three quests across two environments from the game. In the Ancient Forest, you can hunt a fierce yet beginner-friendly Great Jagras or as a more experienced player confront the mighty threat of an Anjanath. In the Wildspire Waste, a massive, dry expanse with swamplands, you can face off against the intermediate level mud-slinging Barroth.
Rewards
In addition to an unquantifiable amount of fun, complete each quest and you’ll get some useful bonus items in the full game! Just make sure you use the same Sony Entertainment Network account for both the beta and the full game.
Additional Notes
Each quest can be done solo or with up to three other players online, and you’ll be able to choose from 14 different weapon types based on your preferred play style, which you can now change during quests at camp. You can even try out each of them before heading out on a quest by visiting the series’ all-new Training Room, included in the beta! Potions and other supplies will be provided on quests during the beta, but you’ll have to fetch your own food and drinks outside the game for those long gameplay sessions.
And one final note – this beta is just a taste for what the quests will look and feel like in the full game. The beta features a game currently in development and some aspects about balance may be different from the full game, but the satisfaction of tracking and bringing down a giant monster you’ll find is all there.

Messed around in Training. Liked the default weapon but I’m using the Wyvern Blade for single player right now. Not sure if I could’ve equipped it in the training area, lol.
I’ll jump into multi-player in about an hour.
I’m doing single player. I want to shake off my rust before jumping into multiplayer.
Game feels so good. I gotta get used to some of the new attacks and interactions, but I was able to jump in and body monsters like I’m supposed to.
Solo’d the first quest and ran with a group for the second. Looking for a group to do the last one now.
I just completed the first quest. He was piss easy when with my rust. It’s annoying chasing these fuckers down when they are on the urge of death.
Just finished the final quest. Wasn’t hard. Got caught slipping and died once tho .

Took me under a little over 9 minutes and this was my first. About to do the other two then jump online.
Back in training and see that I can in fact switch weapons. Will there a be a way to customize certain weapon types? I like the Gunlance but don’t want a shield. Will I be able to unequip or even get rid of the shield and just use the Gunlance?
Right now I’m liking Feathered Blade, Wyvern and Steel Axe the most. Jawblade is cool too as I like these types of beefy and slow hits.

You new to MH?
Nah, you can’t get rid of the shield on the Gunlance. You NEED that shield to compensate for that weapon’s lack of mobility, speed, and area of effect. If you’re gonna use that weapon, learning how and when to block is incredibly important.

You won’t be able to customize weapons in that fashion. The lances are defensive weapons so you can’t use them without the shield. I been using it and the insect glaive.
During the second quest my target fall into a Diablos nest and saw them fight it out. Diablos practically killed it for me. I just had to chase it and finish it off.
Shit’s pretty fun. Love the shock hammer and the sword/axe weapon. Is there way better slow heavy damage weapons or nah? I like taking giant swings in monsters faces.
Also that multiplayer was damn smooth, went through all the quests with the same party with no problems.
