Yeah MR is definitely where you have to pay more attention and greed will kill you a lot more often.
I’ve played some LBG to farm Safi but I just don’t get it lol. At least Bow has like, combos to learn.

I think it’s because it’s too straight forward. I’ve played all the way through the first couple of MR missions with the Charge Blade and it’s no where near as interesting.

I have over 500K zeeny, so I can burn some on weapons and armor LOL. I’ll try out the HBG and switch axe next.
Because not everyone wants to have to play a some complex weapon where you need to manage a dozen things while doing combos. LBG and HBG eschew complexity in at the cost of requiring more resources to run.
No I know all the reasoning, I just mean I don’t get it on a personal level.
Even that argument doesn’t make much sense to me though because there ARE other melee weapons without a ton of complex inputs like Hammer and GS.
But again, I get that some people just want to point and click, I just don’t understand that personally.

The only true “point-and-click” style is when you’re using Sticky ammo, which has its set of limitations (inability to crit, plus the sticky damage cap).
Everything else has its own quirks such as getting into critical distance (or super critical, if you’re running scope), monster alignment (especially for pierce and elemental), hitzones, evade reload.
While you have stuff like Aquashot and Beastbuster on one end, on the other you have stuff like Lightbreak LBG for Normal 3 which requires evade reloading after every shot, or (on PS4) Adept Stormslinger which requires you to balance between getting its special ammo to max damage, without it blowing up in your face.
I use lbg for shit that likes to keep flying. The nerf to flashpods made me need to adapt.

STICKY and SPREAD IS THE WAY!!!
And now thanks to Kulve and Saffi; Elemental ammo as viable but you’ll need all of Safi’s armor and the upgraded Kjarr weapons!!
@Optimus124 Since your in early MR, just get to Nargacuga and farm the shit out if it, to get it’s armor and LBG!!
Also…A very, very important thing for bowguns, is to get the Spareshot/Razor Sharp charm from your housecat!! By using that charm you get the regular Spare shot skill, and can use other armor piece with other skills!!

Sticky is just too good in Iceborne, love that lvl 3 sticky with evade reload, the kds, the damage, along w/ the correct lbg which can include paralyze and sleep. It isn’t a coincidence that LBG has become my second most played weapon just behind DBs.
I don’t use HBG like I did in Vanilla MHW, mainly in part due to the nerfing of clust, which was so much fun back then, however I will go back to it once in a while for the spread, and no, I don’t enjoy sticky on HBG, the slow movement has always been a turnoff for me with HBGs.
On a last note, has anyone seen a Atk Jwl 4 yet? One of my friends has gotten one, however no matter how many investigations I hunt, no matter how many Zinogre event jewels hunts I run through, this and another Crit Jwl 4 still elude me to this day, and it’s so frustrating at times.
I really want a Great Jagras event quest equivalent for MR already, and no, the Zin event one just doesn’t cut it for me.

Elemental LBG was always viable. What MR Kulve brought to the table was Elemental HBG.

Elemental LBG was always viable, though MR Kulve made Elemental LBG & other Elemental weapons even better by being able to upgrade the Kjarr weapons.
I want to say for new players like @Optimus124 instead of wasting time on crafting both raw & elemental weapons, and armor that will be obsolete in a couple of hunts.
They should get to MR 24, meaning they have beating the game’s story mode.
Get to the Guiding Lands ASAP, and then farm, MR Teostra for its armor, MR Kulve to use the Elder Melder to get the Kjarr weapons and then upgrade them, and of course farm Safi’ Jiva for his armor, the blast weapons and the OP as f#@$ Aquashot LBG!!
Aquashot LBG fully upgraded with either version of Spareshot + Artillery LVL 5 + other important skills = CHEESE!!!
Also snatch up the Burstcannon HBG as well…its one of the best HBGs in the game.
Now for the non-elemental melee weapons and bow, get the blast weapons from either Safi’ or Raging Brachydios!*
You’re going to have to pray to RNGesus to get the weapons or, in Raging Brachydios’s case, the items needed to craft the weapons. I’ll put a disclaimer that Raging Brachydios is a very tough fight, even for some people that have endgame gear!!

Except Safi elemental LBGs are still king. The only Kjarr LBG that’s meta is Kjarr Blitz Thunder for Freeze Ammo.
