You can more or less solo the online content, but thereās so much actual content in MH games youāll be like 300 hours in and still didnāt touch the last few monsters that you never fought before and they introduce you to new fights constantly the whole way. Itās like a all you can eat buffet for 1-4 for a month straight.
Soloing is a bit more demanding as well. If youāre starting out your kill times will be on the higher side, and as you get better it lowers significantly.
generations is fun and itās pretty friendly to beginners, but itās so different from the other monster hunter games that i hesitate to suggest it to someone as their first one.
if the game were monster hunter 5 and we could say with certainty that anything you like in this game will surely reappear in monster hunter 6, then itād be different. but generations isnāt a numbered game so weāre not sure if this is just something capcom is experimenting with, or if this is a spinoff thatāll never happen again, or if this is the possible new direction for the series.
but on the other hand you might actually not like the normal monster hunter series, and generations might end up being the only MH game you enjoy.
so yeah you should probably get generations and then maybe grab 4U afterward, but just keep in mind that generations is pretty different from the main series.
Itās radically different from what came before, but it is super easy to get into. The hunters are quite a bit more powerful then they were before while the monsters didnāt change much.
Iād get 4U for cheap now and if you like it, pick up Generations later.
Unless he is running the New 3DS, a Circle Pad Pro is dirty cheap nowadays. It makes a world of difference for some weapons, especially Bow, although the QoL upgrade from controlling the camera is nice regardless.
Also, heard it has performance issues on the Wii U, but I canāt say for sure.
I donāt have a Wii U or 3DS, so thatās something I have to consider. Iām leaning towards the N3DS side because it seems there will be no MH4 Ultimate on the Wii U. But what would make me consider the Wii U version is the status of the online community.
Or should I import Portable 3rd HD for the PS3 instead? I know it has no trophies, but it at least has some form of online play. Does Portable 3rd have the same levels as Tri, or is it different across the board?
Reason I ask is due to Tri being my favorite installment in th series. I played all MH prior to Tri, but none after Tri/Ultimate. Itās nostalgic, and I like the levels in Tri the best.
3U on 3DS has no online (although there is some gimmicks you can do with a Wii U Lan Adapter) and with Generations coming out, I got no idea how the online community for any of the games will be for a while.
On actual differences, IIRC 3U has one or two new maps, balance tweaks and more monsters on top of Triās default content. Also, G Rank.
Nigga, you got the reading comprehension of a 6 year old. I donāt even have a 3DS or Wii U, so I donāt have any option of buying the modern Monster Hunters.
from what iāve heard 3U on wii u still has a decent amount of players online. itās the last proper console MH experience and some people actually like 3U over 4U.
though iām sure itās going to get a lot worse in a few weeks.
personally i wouldnāt suggest it. i miss the console MH experience too but not enough to buy a wii u for it.
Cats are the best thing Capcom ever thought of adding to the series. They are super useful for gathering and are hella fun to actually play as when hunting.
Got myself a Fighter with Piercing Boomerangs/Big Boomerangs/Boomerang Pro/Attack Up (S) and Iām mowing everything down faster then my hunter. Trying to get a few assist cats to bump my meter regen to get the buffs up faster and Iāll be good to go for a while. Gear being purely defense based means I can go full fashion hunter here and thatās always a plus.
