A bit late, but still accurate.

Kushala walked in during a Guiding Lands expedition. So I decided to introduce it to the business end of the Shara HBG.

At work, don’t tease me. :pensive:

Gotta say the bowguns are hella fun in Master rank. Was using Velkhana lbg with spread 2 and that slide reload. Got irritating so dumpstered it for the Vaal Hazaak lbg with spread 3. Definitely melts face with some nice utility ammo. Think I’ll make the jho lbg next. Kinda want to do hbg but I like being mobile.

Looking to build the Jho LBG as well for dat rapid fire Sticky 2.

Speaking of Velkhana, the HBG seems to be a “jack of all trades, master of none” kinda deal with big clips for normal, pierce, and sticky, but lacking cluster and not having as much raw as the true endgame HBGs. Seems to basically be a gun for HBG mains to use while building their endgame guns.

Made it to MR99 yesterday, gonna go after Ruiner Nerg later tonight when I have time.

Work has been a major obstacle in cutting into my grind time. As I have an opening shift tomorrow and back to back closing shifts.

Trying to grind Zingore for that HBG, but the investigation quest that I got sucks. 35 mins, 2 carts only and have to hunt Coral Pukei!?
Plus matchmaking is trash right now as there’s a patch right now.

So I’m going to go for these two charms:

Finally got Zinogre Skymeralds to drop so I could build Mightning+, not just need to farm Spiritvein Solidbones to finally build the railgun.

Ruiner Nerg is a whole new beast. I beat him on the second try but it felt really lucky. There’s still a lot of attacks I don’t know how to punish or avoid lol

Heads up, new event quests coming tomorrow. Including one that will supposedly drop Monster Solidbones (hopefully including Spiritvein ones).

Made Mighting+ last night, and now I’m about to melt face with the new Glutton HBG shotgun!!!

Not yet, you still need one more upgrade to Loyal Thunder.

Also, add in the scope. Using the sight and getting critical distance with it actually adds way more damage than without it.

I already installed the scope, plus 2 Close range mods, a recoil suppressor mod and a Shield.

Got the Rocksteady + mantle before work earlier today.

Dear Master Rank Tempered Black Diablos…

So apparently, the Japanese boards are all up in arms at how grindy the Guiding Lands is (or Diarrhea Shit Lands as they’re now calling it, based on a pun). The main issue is how there’s a total area level cap, so you can only have 2 areas maxed out at any time, and trying to level another area results in one of the others leveling down.

There’s a massive thread on Reddit going over the entire thing.

Wall of text for those who don't want to go on Reddit

Currently Japanese messages boards (e.g. 5ch) and twitter are ablaze with criticism over Iceborne’s end game content.

In fact, the main thread to discuss the Guiding Lands on 5ch has been renamed to “The Diarrhea Shit Lands” (it’s a pun in Japanese).

Many people in the US haven’t gotten to the Guiding Lands yet or just started so they don’t fully understand how it works. To understand the criticism, here’s first an explanation of the end game system:

There are four areas: Forest, Desert, Coral, and Rotten Vale

There is a maximum level for each area that gets higher as you increase your MR.

MR50 increases max to level 5.

MR70 → lvl 6

MR100 → lvl 7

The higher the level, the stronger the monsters that will appear in that area. You unlock elder dragons, tempered regular monsters, and then tempered elder dragons.

HOWEVER, there is a maximum total area level. For example at MR 100 it’s a max level of 18, which means you can only have two areas at max level. Furthermore, whenever you raise the level of one area, it’ll lower the level of another area.

So here’s an example of what happens:

You can only raise two areas, so let’s say you choose Coral and Forest. You got to level MR 70, so now you’ve unlocked coral 6 and forest 6, and you can fight the following monsters:

Gold Rathian at desert 6

Silver Rathalos at coral 6

Black Tigrex at vale 6

Wounded Garuga at forest 6

So you fight Garuga and Rathalos. However, you realize that you want Gold Rathian weapons. What do you do? Well, your desert and vale are low level because you can’t raise them without lowering your coral and forest.

No biggie, just search for distress signals in places that have desert 6 or vale 6. OK, you try doing that. First, it takes you FOREVER to be able to actually find someone with the exact area at the exact level you want (different area levels have different monsters). But you finally find a room that has Desert 6 and join.

Once you get in, though, so see that their desert has tempered black diablos, not gold rathian (spawns are random). OK, so what do you do? You have two choices:

  1. Leave and try to find another room with desert 6 that has gold rathian. This will take hours.

  2. Just fight random desert 6 monsters with the people in that room. However, level contributions when joining others still count to your own land’s level. So every desert monster that anyone in the room breaks a part of, captures, kills, etc. will lower the forest and coral level that you spent hours and hours to build up.

Here’s an image showing how easily levels drop: https://i.imgur.com/HJ8bi9g.jpg

This shows how difficult it is just to find one single monster that’s not in one of the two areas you choose to level up.

It gets even worse when you consider you need a bunch of different parts that can only be found in Guiding Lands from different monsters for weapon customization. Here’s a doc in Japanese:

https://i.imgur.com/q3HuuWI.png

Note that tempered and regular monsters drop different parts, and at high levels only tempered monsters spawn. So even if you have leveled coral and forest, if you realize you actually need a part from regular Legiana (low level coral), you either need to search forever for another room that has it, or purposely level down your areas and undo hours and hours of work.

It’s hard to explain in words, but once you actually experience the horrible see-saw of Guiding Lands and actually try to get the materials needed to craft some weapon customization or new charm levels, you’ll see how terribly designed the system is.

Did the event quest. Sadly doesn’t seem to give out Spiritvein Solidbones.

EDIT: Got lucky and had a Tempered Odo when I started a GL expedition, giving me all the Solidbones I needed for the railgun.
