Even past games have solo only missions though. They just allowed MP for those solo-intended ones for world. Also it gives them more freedom to have a little more “story” in the missions themselves, like the short cart escort sequence early on in the game. That’s the main reason I don’t think they’ll change it. I mean, the other players would literally have nothing to do until the person that posted the quest actually finished everything they need to do until the monster arrives.
CB changes should diversify it’s play style a lot, so that’s pretty sick. I’m glad at least two of the weapons I play got some cool shit but I’m really starting to feel a little annoyed as a Hammer main.
They had better have buffed the fuck out of my stun values or something.
From what I saw, switch axe got a nice new move. Instead of only having morph attacking into sword combo after wild swing. It now also has a safer option with that new overhead smash. It can be used in those small windows of opportunity that would be risky for the morph attack after wild swing.
I dig it. It’s a simple but effective new tech.
Also can transition from normal Element Discharge into Zero Sum Discharge in the middle. Used to just be one or the other.
Do you think elemental discharge is now practical for damage? Or still only good for getting to amped state?
It’ll totally depend on if they massively buffed the MVs or not. In general SA is really undertuned in the damage department in World, and ZSD is never used by runners because it costs way way too much time both in the actual animation of the move and all the time spent waiting for sword to come back since it blows most of your meter. On order to overcome all that downtime it needs to be a lot stronger. Buffing Axe mode will help too, hopefully that other new attack is good for you guys as well.
I’m disappointed with the new switch axe stuff. Might as well give us more sword mode stuff.
Oh well, I’ll keep using CB. It’ll probably be busted as hell again.
Man, at least SA got a new move outside of Claw/Slinger stuff. Count your blessings lol
They still need to buff up SA.
Also IG looking really good with its changes.
Man, shush. Hammer needs a buff first.
Well… nah, they both do honestly lol
And yeah IG changes look sick, and Bow just gets an extra tool to do stun damage n shit. FANTASTIC. Bow DEFINITELY NEEDED MORE STUN DAMAGE. YOU FUCKING PIECES OF SHIT.
I am going to be so fucking angry if the stun values on the hammer’s claw attacks or on the old attacks aren’t fucking incredible.
Look at this shit.
SA:
Axe Boost
Power up your axe by performing a new finisher, which can be used after a certain number of wild swings. For a period of time, your axe attacks will flinch monsters more easily.
Special Clutch Launch
You can fire off the clutch claw during an elemental discharge. If you hit a large monster, you will cling to it. The clutch claw attack has a high phial output, and can quickly propel you into Phial Awakening state.
Zero Sum Clutch Discharge
During Phial Awakening, you can perform a Zero Sum Discharge while clinging to the monster.
CB:
Hypercharge
Cancelling an SAED with the new Savage Axe Slash move puts you in Hypercharge mode. For a time, your axe attacks will hit continuously like a buzzsaw, and you will get additional benefits based on the type of phial you are using.
Element: Increases elemental damage of axe attacks, long boost time
Impact: Increases raw damage of axe attacks, short boost time
During hypercharge, your phials are continuously drained over time, and if you run out, the mode ends.
SA can’t even get a damage boost.
Why’re they doing the SA so damn dirty?
I mean, I’m sure there will be some numbers changes under the hood. As long as they buff the damage a bit isn’t that fine? I mean shit, a stagger boost is pretty powerful in this game honestly.
Even for Hammer it honestly does have all the tools it needs, it just for some reason loses out in stun damage to CB and Bow(with impact mantle)
The main issue with SA I see. Is that what was suppose to be its main source of damage. The elemental discharge. Well sucks. It takes way too damn long to deal max damage and the recovery animation takes too long leaving you vulnerable. And you blow your whole sword mode gauge. And for. What? Some flashy explosion that is out dps by doing wild swing morph attack combos?
Also the elemental discharge is counterintuitive to how switch axe plays. You are suppose to be a relentless chopping machine seamlessly morphing between attacks. CBs super element discharge can be done from sword and shield mode. SA discharge can’t be morphed into from axe. You must be in sword mode to do it. And it completely halts your momentum. Forcing you to stand in place for like 5 secs to do the attack. GARBAGE!
SA needs to have elemental discharge cause guarantee flinch, and amped cause guarantee knockdown for it to be worth it. Or rework that shit altogether
Switch Axe
Charge Blade
Bow
Insect Glaive
LBG and HBG vids were linked by German MH Twitter account also lol
LBG has some sort of new wyvern blast where you can fire it out instead of at the ground, seems to have high stagger or something. HBG got a sniper sight lol
Compare the solo missions to missions where you can have the potential to play with people. It’s pretty obvious that MH promotes the idea of group play. Yeah, you may think they won’t change it, however whose to say that they won’t either.
Seeing the general consensus of most people from other forums, even on the official Capcom site itself that a UHuB is one of the most asked about changes they would like seen. The PC version has a modified HuB that you can download and that is ranked in the top10 for most downloads from the MHW mods.
Even Capcom themselves have intentionally did things to make players go to the HuB right now, Kulve is one of them, however so are the changes to the HuB aesthetically during special events, special meals etc.
This again can all be remedied with just one single UHuB, helps out Capcom and will make many players happy. Everyone wins.
I’m beginning to think that the CB weapon right now is the “Cammy” of MHW. It can never be truly bad, and will always be one of the most effective weapons (characters) in the game lol.
I cannot wait for Iceborne now, already got my pre-order down, so now all we have to do is wait the next few excruciating months until it comes out. Even requested a few days off from work to play this game when it releases .
Going to build my CB experience again, right now, I only have 300+ uses on it, however after a few months of barely getting on to play besides during the time of AT Nerg. Going to rebuild my CB skills again and hopefully I’ll be ready for IB when it hits.
I hope this game banks on sales again because now that MHW has truly hit the mainstream with the Western World. I’m not expecting 10million+ numbers, if it does, I’ll be even more overjoyed, but anywhere near that would be great.
Yeah dude, I never said I don’t want MP from the start. I just have reason to suspect it won’t change. If anything I wish they just chose to either make it totally solo only like the old games have always been OR allow MP from the start of the quest. I can agree the current method is strange.
And yeah I’d like a new hub where we can always see everyone, but just because people clamor for it doesn’t mean it’ll happen. Hopefully it does, but unless they show off a new hub during E3 or some other stream event before release I doubt it’s coming, cause that would be the type of thing you’d talk about early.
I’m not arguing that you didn’t want it. I never even stated that you didn’t, because I read the first time that you agreed on it, however you replied to me saying that they probably wouldn’t with your reasons why you believe so, and I replied stating that they should with my own reasons why. Nobody is accusing someone of something they clearly didn’t say.
The current method isn’t strange, it’s just downright poorly done. Multiple floors is awesome, I think that was great, however having the top being the HuB while also requiring it to have it’s own load time on top of that, putting multiple important things at the very bottom was just one of the few poorly planned things from MHW that could be done much better in Iceborne.
I’m leaning more towards a possibility of their being a new HuB, because they are entering a completely new piece of land, so I’m sure they’re building a new place for hunters to gather all together it would make sense.
I don’t agree that that introducing a new HuB would be such an important aspect at this point for Iceborne to be displaying to everyone.
Showing the new land, the new monsters, the new ways to fight with the weapons. These are easily the more important features that most people are probably interested in above all else, so this is what the people at Capcom should and are prioritizing right now.
I’m assuming that as we draw closer to Iceborne, we’ll see more things, including the new HuB.
Gotcha, my bad dude.
The method talk was about story missions and multiplayer, not the hub.
Top floor being a separate HUB seems like an oversight, and a holdover from previous games that shouldn’t be there.
