Swagaxe better get the most busted shit.
Or just give it to charge blade. I’m happy with either or at this point.

Also let my good boi Brachydios in this bitch and give me that duo hunt with a large dodogama and a tiny brachy. Titled Bestest bois.
Ah man…
I can’t wait to see how busted they’re going to make the Charge Blade!!
Lance
Gunlance
CB seems to be the beloved child in MHW, so I’m assuming that it’ll be some ridiculously powerful new option.
If they did something crazy like cutting the build up time for sword and shield for CB, then you could really be looking at some gamebreaking stuff.
This is my 2nd favorite weapon in the game, so I’m really looking forward to what they have in store for CB.
Yo GL gets fucking explosive sticky mines?! FUCK YEAH.
Long rant, so if you don’t want to read, just ignore…
These are just some of the things that I hope they address in Iceborne that for me would greatly improved the quality of MHW in general.
1. Allow the skipping of cut-scenes and fix the issue to where a player must see a cut-scene in order to invite people.
This really cut into the immersion of the game while playing with friends because of the entire “You haven’t seen the cut-scene yet.”
Forcing the player to having to watch the scene, and then only after that being able to fire an SoS or if you wanted to play with friends without the chance of randoms joining than you literally had to leave the mission and reboot it.
Although MHW was a Diamond in the rough hit, this really turned off a lot of potential players because it really became a nuisance, and just simply a poor implementation if their was a “negative” thing to say about MHW.
Capcom can surely improve upon this by simply removing this handicap all together.
This way, regardless if I’m much further into the game than someone I know, that we can join a mission together and simply play through and not having to deal with all of this nonsense to where it relegates someone to waiting until the other finishes seeing a scene, monster or whatever.
Player together shouldn’t be hindered by this.
2. Universal HUB
This would 10000x improve the interaction between players if we simply were given a universal HUB that would allow all 16 players on the session to be able to see one another without having to move all the way up to a certain area.
Many times, even if I’m in a full session, I seriously feel like I’m playing solo because it’s NPCs and me, and if I go up to the HUB at top, it’s very rare that you see anyone there unless it’s Kulve, or an event that has the special meals.
The Kulve Hunt itself can be annoying, because if you need to get back to your farm…gotta go back down, replenish, and then come back up. It’s just inconvenient all together.
By having an entire place to where you can craft, farm, buy, sell, eat, have mini-games, drink and be able to see the players running around doing their own things would greatly boost player to player interaction which will directly have a positive affect overall.
When you can talk to other people, it promotes more willingness to continue playing, making new friends and many great things that could only come from this.
Not to mention, their would be those who would just come on, just so they can get in-game and chat in MHW. We see this happening all the time in other mmos, and a UHUB in Iceborne would have that potential as well.
3. If a player dcs from a mission, and reconnect they should be allowed to return to the mission, and not be devoid of being able to get back on. Also if the said player dced or left, that after a limited time frame, then the mission should be opened up so that other players should be capable of joining the mission.
MHW online connection can be finicky sometimes and I’m sure we’ve all had the issue to where we were playing, and then bam. Random DC, we reconnect and we’re removed from the mission and also cannot reconnect back to it.
The party is also screwed over because now they’re fighting a monster that the game thinks still has 4 players instead of the 3.
It would be nice if someone who dced, had a 5 min window or something along those lines to reconnect to the mission they were in with other hunters.
Once that 5 mins is over and the original player does not reconnect or return, than the mission should be open to other players seeking the mission as well so that they may join to fill in the position.
4. Radial Menu having it’s own save options like the weapon/gear load outs, and item load outs.
Maybe I was the only one, however their were times where I would load a gear set, then play, and go “WTF, what why did my radial menu go back into default?!” Which of course made me upset and wondering why, only to find out what the real issue was.
I believe a Radial Menu save options to where you can create multiple ones depending upon what you would like to use it to which gear load out would be fantastic.
If I’m using melee, than I can switch to the Melee Radial Menu that I have created and saved, and if I’m going long range, than easy switch, etc, etc.
5. Transmog Option Please!
Pretty self explanatory here. Gears eventually get outdated and this goes for weapons too, however even the outdated gears can look fantastic (Oda gear, Guild Sabers, even the first gear sets looks nice) however we have no option to skin them over to the newer and stronger sets.
This should be allowed in the game, so that we can really mix and match how we look, while creating new looking sets to the players preference of taste.
Believe me, you would have people literally spending hours doing nothing but this in Iceborne if this were to be implemented (I would probably be one of them).
I wouldn’t even mind if it we had to farm for the sets through the normal hunts, having to craft the armor/weapon itself and then having it allowed to be transitioned over as a transmog. This would be 100% perfectly fine by me.
It would also benefit Capcom as well, because you would have more people farming missions all together which would benefit new players who may be seeking help, and it would promote more play from the players in general.
Want that Oda reskin? Well, you gotta farm the set now and transfer it over to the gear you’re using. Want to make another one? That’s more farming again.
Capcom gets people to keep playing MHW, not only that, but this will directly improve upon higher ranking players playing lower missions for the reskins which would also produce more interaction play with lower players.
Yes, also have a reset option to restore the gear that is getting skinned over as well please. I’m sure we would all be happy with that too.
Overall, these are just my ideas, yes, it’s a long rant, however it would be nice to see some of it becoming a reality in Iceborne. My opinions above are simply for more quality of life changes that would only improve the gameplay experience of MHW overall in my opinion.
It would be frustrating if we get Iceborne, and not one of these issues were either remedied, or improved upon.
The first isn’t a “fix” since it seems to be working as intended but yeah hopefully they change it. I’m willing to bet money they won’t though since story missions are still overall intended to be done solo I’d wager. I don’t understand the immersion complaint though, this is a super game-y series of games.
Also you’re mistaken, you never needed to fire SoS. All that needs to happen is after the cutscene, your friend in the same session just joins. No chance of randoms joining unless YOU fire the flare. That message is basically the game just telling you you can do multiplayer now, not that you NEED to fire it to play with friends.
Totally agreed on 2 and 3, but unless they show us a new village or something during E3, I wouldn’t get my hopes up for a new hub.
IMO, player interactivity depends on what you want out of your online experience. Some people like to socialize, while some don’t. It’s easy to default to stuff like shoutouts/gestures/stickers especially when they have a broad coverage to convey some sort of statement/expression. And, unless you’re with friends/regulars, regular communication is pretty much nonexistent between players in a session, though YMMV.
As an aside, extraneous stuffs, like farming, during a Kulve siege is on you. I usually max modifiers/clear box before starting siege and check after a complete siege run (when group).
A more shared lobby would promote more communication, and it’s the having to leave the hub to do the gathering that is the problem. Obviously it’s on the player to manage their gathering, doesn’t mean it couldn’t be more convenient.
So, basically, some people would like a singular, contiguous area (all amenities aside) for the sake of having possibly improved active communication stuffs?
Even then, there’s probably those players who aren’t really interested in communication stuffs, though.
They can ignore it then? Basically as it’s currently set up it’s harder for people who do want to communicate then it would be for those who don’t want to to ignore it if it was the other way around.
And since a lot of this game is about forming parties…
Creating your own session is one of the main menu options, they can just do that and make it private, easy.
Whether there’s 4 players or 3 doesn’t matter though. Because the monsters are only tuned for either 1 or 4 players.
Radial menu is meant to be tied to your item loadout though. Maybe it’s because I primarily play HBGs and always need to craft ammo, but I have a unique radial menu set for every loadout, since each one is tailored to different types of ammo. Every time I switch loadouts, my radials are automatically set to the one for it.
I understand that, however my point was to fix the issue of players dropping out of the mission whether doing it intentionally or unintentionally that the mission should still keep the door open for the vacant spots to be taken by other players which was the real point of my issue involving this.
Yeah, I figured this out after playing a while into the game last year, which is why I said that having a radial menu load out would be nice, although to be honest, out of my entire wish list, this is easily the least of my concerns.
I know full well it was their intention, however this was poorly executed, and they should know by now that MH in general is popularly played with multiple people on board. We shouldn’t all be forced to having to watch a cut-scene individually before we can play together.
Allowing every player to watch the cutscene together without having to run their own would go a long way.
Also we know that they can definitely remedy this, since in later installed hunts like Behemoth, Kulve etc, they allowed all the players to watch the scenes together, so I’m pretty hopeful that this will be the case for Iceborne as well.
In what ways is it harder for people who do want to communicate? (method, input)
As for the part about forming parties, the majority of parties that I’ve joined in MHW have been via the following:
And this is without any communication from the quest leader beforehand asking for assistance in the session chat, much less from the people trying to join up.
I think those of us who want a Universal HUB would like to actually see other players running around, so that the environment feels more alive (Yes, the AI populate the place, but I’m speaking about seeing actual players), but more importantly this will directly promote more actual dialogue between players.
As for those who wouldn’t care for it, than why would it matter it since it’s not a detriment if this was implemented for them anyhow. I would expect their to be players that wouldn’t care, but I would also expect that their are also many who would care and would like this welcome change.
Maybe some have forgotten, but back in MH1 I saw far more interaction with random players on there than I do in MHW, and this was due to the very fact that we were within a more universal hub per say even though it had it’s own sections and limitations but this was due more to the game not being capable of handling such things.
However when you joined to go out on hunts, we would all have to meet at the same area, so I would actually take the time to say “Hello” etc, etc which produced actual dialogue.
This made me frequent more people that I knew online than on here in MHW to where my “friends list” is pages long however I don’t even bother to play with 99% of them.
On MHW, as you say, I’m just simply looking to do my missions and really nothing else while joining with other people that I either find on session or sos calls. No real interaction, just “Okay, he/she has what I’m looking for, going to join.” That’s it.
Sessions are as dead a door nail most of the time and not having a UHuB has a lot to do with it.
THOSE MAD MEN AND WOMEN AT CAPCOM!!! THEY MADE CHARGE BLADE EVEN MORE OP!!
As expected.
May the reign of the CB-side of the Force contiune!!
