I love nogi cause it’s more or less just wrestling with chokes and I’m the sweatiest of sweaty people, so people couldn’t get a hold of me.
It always bugged me that in the gi you can lock a guy down mostly by using the right grips. In my experience with nogi you have to really know how to put you’re weight down.
I wasn’t a great wrestler, but doing it for years teaches you how to use your hips and staple them to the mat to keep people from getting away from you.
MMA Fighters need an union man, they’re throwing hands for lunch money while Boxing still makes mad cash. I nearly fell off my chair when I first heard this.
Somebody smarter, correct me please, but doesn’t boxing have an entirely different set up? The UFC is who writes the checks to fighters. In boxing, isn’t there like tons of promoters that are organizing events and paying the fighters? And the promoters are not the organizations that manage the titles and sanction the legitimacy of champions?
I feel like if a fighter were eating a meal, boxing is a salad fork, dinner fork, soup spoon, tea spoon, butter knife, and steak knife. The UFC is a spork with a serrated edge.
No idea tbh. You might be onto something, I remember a lot of the more popular fighters got screwed in terms of sponsorships because of the uniform change/Reebok’s monopoly.
It has a different setup but abuses fighters the same way pre Ali act. That fighters pay is divided to a bunch of people in the camp. It’s not purely to a fighter.
