ViTRTor was no joke.
They could run in the ufc pc like ultimate fighter
I meanâŚyay?
And nothing of value was lossâŚcorrection. Fighterâs loss a shit ton of sponsorship money. I donât blame Reebok for that. That is all on the UFC. Individual athletes have gotten better Reebok deals that the UFC as a company.
Can someone brief me about this Reebok deal? Iâm not terribly into MMA, and have only heard here and there how bad it is.
Since the UFC fighters canât band together to form any sort of union or trade association, the UFC runs roughshod over them. The Reebok deal was 72 million over 6 years IIRC. Fighters get a Reebok pay bonus that is tied to the number of fights theyâve had under the Zuffa banner (WEC, Strikeforce, and UFC). They start a $2500/per fight and top out at $10,000 per fight, except for champions. They get $40,000 if memory serves me correctly. The issue is that many fighters made more that the top pay out of $40,000 per fight. Several fighters where making in the low six figures with their sponsors. Demetrious Johnson actually had a deal with Xbox that he lost because of the Reebok deal for example.
Since fighter pay is low by pro sports standards, many fighters relied on sponsorship to make up the difference and often made more from sponsors than they did from the UFC. Fighters typically fight 2 to 3 times a year. And between taxes and paying their coaches/gyms, they can make peanuts if they are on the low end of the pay spectrum. This is compounded by most low end guys having half their pay typically tied to their win bonus. So if you lose a fight. You may walk away with 20k instead of 40k for example. Which can be really agonizing if you get jobbed by a judges decision.
Edit: SorryâŚguess that wasnât brief.
The amount of condom depot depot jokes going on is too much
i know a lot of guys got paid under the table by the fertittas
But the change of ownership and lowball contracts lead to guys getting dayjobs and leaving for bellator and onefc
So it is true when UFC fighters say that WWE pro wrestlers have it better.
Iâd bet some Indy wrestlers have it better than some UFC fighters.
Meh depends. Yes and no. Ufc fighters only have to fight at most 3x a year and thatâs if your a top top guy. Most only fight 2x.
Wwe guys wrestle 300 days a year. Have to drive themselves to every show unless you are a top top guy. Have to share rides with people. No medical.
The lack of fights is a detriment. They donât get paid enough to for two fights a year to be enough. I make more money than low end UFC fighters and Iâm not exactly ballin.
Low end wwe guys starting out in developmental get 500 a week. That barely pays for the rent. Itâs almost better to do the indies and make a name and then head to wwe so you donât get the shitty developmental deals. Tuf contracts are way better than nxt no name contracts
