The MMA Thread. BJ Penn Didn't Die #HeDeadThough

lol overeem’s fights more between k1 and mma than any other heavyweight, let me see someone else in the top 10 fight in a grand prix and then come back less than a month later and fight duffee…hell let me just see one of those niggas fight twice within a 2 month time fram.

What’s the source of the GIF in page 80?
EDIT: NVM seems someone linked to it, thanks, gonna show it to my bros for some OoOs

It really isnt Overeems fault he isnt fighting more often in MMA.
No one wants that fight.
Who has called out Overeem?

Nobody.

And his only criticisms are that he hasnt defended his title in 2 years and that his opposition at HW is lacking.
Only people that cant/wont fight him are criticizing him.

Where are all these top level HWs that are willing to fight Optimus Reem?

There are actually quite a few HWs outside of the UFC that are elite level.
I think the only one that could feel somewhat confident to fight him is Kharnitov.
But last I checked he is out of shape.

Kharnitov
Barnett
Fedor
Werdum
Silva
Arlovski (HA! hed get retired so hard)

Nah. They dont really want to fight him.

Who is in the UFC that wants to fight him?
JDS? Murr? Carwin? Cock Chestner? Cain?
Im pretty sure he kills all those guys.
And none of them want it anyway.

I think JDS has the best chance, but he relys completely on his boxing, and Overeems standup is just flat out superior, so he should win that fight.
Murr would get murked hard, he has no TDs and his one 4 punch combo would get him killed vs. Reem.
Carwin is the white Brett Rodgers.
Cock Chestnar is scurred of being hit, especially if he tastes power, he goes fetal.
Cain has got a decent chance, with his wrestling and speed, but Kongo came very close to giving him brain damage, if the Cain that fought Kongo is the Cain that fights Reem, Velasquez goes comatose.

Hm…I would agree that JDS or Velasquez would have the best shot vs Overeem. Speaking of Mir and takedowns… I really think that if he somehow learned how to take people down well, he would be so much more of a threat.

I honestly think Overeem has a really good chance of being the #1 HW fighter in the world. He can beat Fedor, destroy Werdum, and then move to the UFC and literally grab the belt with ease. Lesnar would beat Overeem in size and wrestling but the moment Overeem clips him with his pinky, he’ll turn into bboy Lesnar.

Cain and JDS would give Overeem a good fight, but his stand up is too good. Especially if Overeem learns better stand up defense. And if Mir wants to fight Overeem…he’ll turn back into elephant man.

How is Overeem’s wrestling/grappling/submission game anyway?

From what I’ve seen/read, he has a good gulliotine and has competed at ADCC. So its not lacking at all.

K-1 will be picked up by It’s Showtime promotion in holland. FEG/Dream is dead for sure

My parents just asked me why I was laughing so hard. I’m not sure they would have found this as funny though.

they do full muay thai rules dont they?

Well, to be honest they aren’t doing fantastic. But he won’t get into K-1 because they low-ball the shit out of people unless they’re established. If your friend is Yod, then I’d feel he has more merit. Who is your friend? If he/you wouldn’t mind telling.

So this is basically the last time we might see K-1?

not saying your buddy is bad, cause he’s not…but k1 and knocking out bums in patong are two different things.

I think K-1s fututre hinges on New Years Eve.

I speculate that unless they blow that event out of the park I think they’ll be dead by April.

haha ok…yeah…the main problem over here is you can’t get fights anywhere. Its probably better in the states than it is in canada…although hopefully that changes with the new rules in ontario. but even still its hard to get big fights.

But there’s kind of a mystic to thailand and people don’t really see what is actually going on over there. Alot of people just think ahhh, training in thailand is the best, you have to train there to be good etc etc. While it obviously is the spot to train…its not as easy to find good training and good trainers over there. Not to mention people that actually give a shit about your well being and not just look at you as the couple thousand baht they are going to get from your fight. Like you see some of the fights in patong and you think they are pretty sketch in the white guys favor…i’ve seen ones just as bad or worse in the thai guys favor.

It’s a hell of a lot cheaper to train in the states too…especially if your boy was at tiger. And it’s high season now…i’m sure he wasn’t to thrilled about training with 50 people in a class. I heard they had over 400 students last week.

He has an excellent offensive grappling game.
His standing guillotine is probably the best youll ever see.
His half guard full guard and 3/4 guard guard guillotines are impressive, highly technical with raw power to back it up.
Has a nasty kimura.
Decent arm bar technique.
Never seen anything else besides those moves out of him, but he does them well.

His wrestling isnt the best, but if you watch the Rogers fight, you can see him rag doll Rogers with a thai plum, and has a decent takedown. His TDD is good.

He has been pounded out on his back in the past.
I dont think his defensive grappling is as good.
(To be fair it was at a lighter weight class, years ago, when he would gas on the reg)

Not too bad.

Jamie Varner got cut. Hahahah.

He did? lol, not surprised…Horodecki should consider moving down to 145, he’s ALWAYS looked too small to be fighting at LW to me (Probably because he looks like a 14 year old, haha)

Barboza/Njokuani is gonna be FIREWORKS!

im surprised he lasted this long…shoulda been cut the min the cowboy grapplefucked him. THE FUCKING COWBOY GRAPPLERAPED HIM! HAHAH
