The MMA Thread. BJ Penn Didn't Die #HeDeadThough

That would be something.^

They would probably shoot the hell out of him if they got the chance. He’s great at trolling and trash talk, but needs to know at what point he should shut up and stop trying to be entertaining.

“switch kick”

well what is that kick called? if i had to guess, i’d say “flying roundhouse” but i’ve never thrown a kick in my life.

fistoftheryustar made it sound like he fucked up the name or something

would have lol’d if the shoto sweep actually floored him

I remember doing something similar to that switch kick in taekwondo

lol shit i didnt even notice the sweep he does in the beginning.

i love how his team mate goes over to congratulate him but has to wait for him stop spinning first.

Dayyyuummm, just drops hands completely to go for the kick… SHOCKs THE FUCK OUTTA ME!

cool kick though and victory dance

switchkick or low high…its in tkd

Don’t forget karate.

not in the style i did. i think its more in the point fighting friendly styles of karate.

Kockdown Karate right? If so, which style?

i dunno what knockdown karate is

Basically it’s full contact karate. The famous style being Kyokushin (one of my favorite styles) but it has offshoots. Enshin, Ashihara, Shidokan, and Seidokan are the main ones but there are plenty more started by people. The only thing they don’t allow in their “fights” is punches tothe face but you can kick and knee to the head.

Yeah I was wondering if he was that confident in his grappling because he not only dropped his hands, but sacrificed being vulnerable on the floor. He’s also done some spin kick KO as well, but nothing as flashy as this. What’s freaky is that the opponent puts his hands up and it manages to find him. Greg Jackson mentions the often neglected straight / jab into a right hook. The first move puts their hands up to defend and the right hook comes from the side. Simple stuff, but effective if they’re not anticipating the hook. This is similar to the kick version of that.

And yeah Gimpy it did remind me a little of Kyokushin with their sacrifice kicks. In Kyokushin you can try these and the ref stands you back up. It is common in TKD. I’ve never seen this kick in Kyokushin though, I always see that rolling sacrifice kick.

Funny you mention Ric Fliar. Grantland had an article on him today.

yeah yeah leave in the prowrestling thread

looks like a insaguri with out the guy catching your leg first. wwf is the best.

I dunno, but I’m getting an itch that Okami might just pull this off. Debating actually betting on it.

Why I get the feeling Okami might get knocked out by a spinning kick. Next thing you know Van Damme will say he taught Silva that kick. :looney:

Bodog’s got a bet that Okami finishes and wins before a decision paying 8 to 1, $20 gets $160.

nah niggas gonna get trolled wit the van damme split.
