Thats exactly the problem.
All the cuts are going to come in the LW and FW divisions.
Where there is a ton of talent and many many exciting fighters.
A bunch of bums are going to remain in the UFCs heavier weight classes and we will continue to see a bunch of chumps on PPV that have no reason to be there.

I personally think this was the best move for the UFC. It gives some of the smaller 155s a chance to drop down if they feel they cant handle that weight class and some of the 145’s from WEC the chance to move back up. People seem to think there will be less free TV events. But all that was mention was VERSUS events. That doesnt count the events they do with Spike.
155ers could always drop…and have. mike brown, pulver and a few others dropped.
Where would the 155’ers from the UFC dropped too before? Nowhere. WEC didnt pay shit to its already underpaid fighters.
Now the option is there and more money for everyone coming to the big show.
WEC fighters probably still aren’t gonna make shit. also there are gonna be 4 less zuffa events in total, so…yeah.
Even Dana White has said it. This definitely means a pay raise for WEC’s current fighters. Jose Aldo is Top 3 P4P and makes SUBSTANTIALLY less than a UFC fighter below ranking does. The FOTN bonuses are like 50k less in the WEC also.
i’ll believe it when i see it. the top WEC guys might start getting paid, but mid-carders, probably not…and realistically, mid-card UFC guys just got on put on notice.

I think that’s more a problem to be overcome by people learning wrestling defense, improving their weight cuts, etc. I’d rather see someone who wins like Gray Maynard get rewarded over someone who loses just because he tries really hard. But at the same time, I can’t wait to see people’s wrestling defense force the Gray Maynards and Jon Fitches of the world to change their gameplan, too.
