he has better boxing skills than koscheck and fitch. but its moderate at best…if anyone was gonna be a striking challenge for gsp itd have been pitbull. unless he suddenly can sendo smash and didnt tell anyone id guess all he has is his bjj/wrestling.
Davis was not going to engage him in a stand up battle with 3 weeks of training. He played it smart and won those last 2 rounds.
For that he focusEd on his wrestling and gnp and sub defense.

cause gsp actual has skill. In an company full of wrestlers that are pretty shit at everything else, it’s nice to see someone that’s polished in all aspects of the game and actually looks like a real fighter.
you can complain about phil getting round 1, but nog sure as hell didn’t get it. phil had a good gameplan with the kicks to keep nog off him bcuz he knew he couldn’t fuck with his hands.

shields a better boxer than koscheck and fitch? in what aspect? if by technique, i suppose but jake shields has PILLOW HANDS. he has close to NO power whatsoever. i want to say he’s one of the worst strikers in the WW division. koscheck would destroy shields standing up and i’m pretty sure fitch is better standing than shields as well. only chance jake has is subbing GSP but i bet that GSP keeps this one standing like the koscheck fight.

I will predict this for the GSP-Shields fight. GSP will probably kick the shit out of Shields and will turn into a octopus.

On the real, he should stick to TNA or WWE. I actually caught the fight at the beginning of the second round and :shake: after that. It seemed Ott was out of it to because a good fighter with good cardio would have blasted Lashley’s face because everyone knew that bamma was gassed out.
I know Shields is not the money bet but still i want to see Jake win simply so we dont have two anderson silvas that are too lazy to be down on points and have to work for a win.
The very least i want to see a finish,i say shields takes a page from Aoki and rips and arm off and rolls around with it for a while.
I actually put $30 on Shields to win. I have a feeling I just threw $30 down the drain but if he does win, I will troll all my friends that watch mma since they all love GSP.
Shields should just go for any possible limb he can grab and go for a submission. Flying scissor heel hook should get him the W.
agreed but the difference is shields would be crazy to stand up with the majority of the WW division. he’s a specialist on the ground and that’s where he does his handy work. shields can have all the boxing technique in the world but he’s not looking to stand. he looked a bit improved in the kampmann fight and he does a great job at setting his takedowns with his decent striking technique.
i don’t think his chances are THAT great but he’s a great bet for an underdog. i’m a fan of shields but i don’t think he has the right answer for GSP.
