I would argue otherwise if you were living here in London. HR don’t want to know your ass unless you have some certification. When you get a job you eventually get motivated to do more certs (or forced to depending on who you work for). Quite a few places here prefer you to self study which is possible if you have the right working environment and infrastructure.
I did my CCNA because I was bored with 1st line support, was forced to do ITILv3 Foundation, recently passed my VCP via self study (horrible exam) and now I am thinking of doing a storage cert either Storage+ or EMC ISMv2. Also I wouldn’t bother going to a training course completely green because they run through the material fairly quickly. You won’t have time to appreciate and process the info. Happened to me with some of the EMC courses I sat in; Isilon and Networker (EMC backup software - which is fucking horrible to work with), just sat their dumbfounded.
Then they better live up to the name. In 40 years I expect only the finest of cougars to have attended said academy in their younger days. Even though I will be older than them when they are considered cougars, I can still judge.
yo, Duckie. today i drove all over town to pick up this lady’s laptop. she texted me all day to see if i’ve finished finding out with the problem is. i finally find out and tell her. she doesn’t want me to fix it… and she doesn’t want to pay me for wasted gas or diagnostics…
i think it was just a misunderstanding. i think she’s used to getting deals on account of her looks- but i’m already a deal compared to everybody else in town. she’s probably never encountered a guy like me.
So imagine my surprise when I get my W-9 and saw that I only made eight thousand dollars last year.
Then again, that sounds right considering I didn’t really get a lot of work until I moved to Austin (and even then took until August to really establish myself). I’m on track to make much more this year, at least $32k. If I can play my cards right, I’ll make $42k.
Speaking of being busy, holy shit. Last week I fell off a ladder (and almost onto a car in a drive-thru lane) while inspecting cameras at a fast-food joint.
I’ve also eaten around 200 chicken nuggets this month, yet surprisingly lost weight. Most of them were free, so ZERO complaints.
I’ve also been pulled over twice, spent two days in a room full of state troopers (upgrading hand held ticketing units), and got yelled at by a lady at a church day care center.
