I haven’t been in the forums for almost a week ? I know some questions have already been answered, but here are my 5 cents.
No. As animation it has qualities (very good music for example) but as an adaptation its pretty bad. If you are looking for background on the story and character’s I’d recommend you to avoid it.
Your best bet is to look for the Tsukihime manga. Very loyal to the original in story and characters (and some bonuses). Some fans argue that it is better than the original. Its being published by Dr. Master and the third volume just came out, putting it on par with the Japanese books.
Well, Tsukihime is a visual novel, which is something like a digital book with illustrations, so ‘digital comic’ is not too far off. And it can get bloody. I am not good on the technicalities, but I think it doesn’t really qualify as a ‘hentai game’ because the focus of the game is not the sex scenes (now if someone can explain if there is a difference between an eroge and a hentai game go ahead). IIRC, the order is Tsukihime, bonus discs, Melty Blood, anime, ReACT, Tsukihime manga, Act Cadenza, Melty Blood manga.
You can find enough info on the original game on Wikipedia or The Moonlit World (a fansite).

vs. Mech Hisui
2A > 2A > 2A > 2B (1 hit) > A > 6A > 4C > 2C > C > jump, jB > jC > jump, jB > jC > air throw
Things to keep in mind:
? the combo on Mech Hisui is a good BnB to start learning with.
? never both air jump and air dash in the air combo. You can use them as air throw followups.
? A > 6A allows Ciel to moves Ciel forward while comboing, allowing for C > C, 2C > C (vs Akiha) or C > C, 2C > 4C more easily.
? you may want to avoid using 2B in a combo. It scales Ciel’s damage a lot in version B. (credit: Veteru)

Is there an intro/basics guide for this game? I just started playing and i’m using red arcuied.
I want to pick up Akiha Vermillion, but I can’t seem to find any info on what I should be doing and punishing with (wiki has like nothing on her), so does anyone have (or know where I can get) some tips, bnbs, etc?
Also, I’m noticing all of the Aoko love. WTF am I supposed to be doing with her?
Just skip it. When talking to Veteru I asked him to do 2A > A > 6A > 4C > C > C, 2C > 4C > air combo and it does very good damage (more than 4200). On the other hand, her regular combo with 2B is ridiculously nerfed (less than 2500). Without the 2B, you get less pushback and scaling for the Cs.
I think the wiki has a good amount of video links for AC. Since she is top in version A finding videos of her will be easy.
Aoko is a new character for us, so people is still figuring her out, so just keep reading the thread, I guess.
Ah that combo seems so much better than my old lame combo that only did 35-something damage. 2A > A > 6A is just so much easier to memorize by itself too. Thanks again for all the combo help Vman. I really need to get back into this game.
2A 5A 6A also has applications on block. It builds meter and keeps you close to the opponent which ciel loves because it compliments her myriad of high/low tricks.
