LOL. HELLS YEAH! I JUST got that combo down a few hrs ago. Ms. Blue is NO JOKE in the technical dept.
i think the tough question on corner knock down is to use which floating starmine. while the 214 orb seems to be a much safer option considering that it would discourage abare on wake up, but the 412 orb definitely seem to have more mix up options.
one trick that i’ve seen a lot in vids so far is placing the 412 orb then intentionally charge the first part of aoko 123 (the 6a) to bait a counter as the opponent is waking up, then burst the orb if they make a move. kind of gimmicky in a way, but seems like a pretty effective strategy.
I just talked to a friend of mine who orders arcade games from japan directly. He told me that his supplier said he had no idea about them doing a revision or update of the game. If they r doing something he has never heard of this. I need to know where is this info coming from about playing on original cause he will not order the game if he is going to maybe have to pay for update. There was also a rumor like this on Fist and he almost didnt order that game also. To find out from his friend who works for sammy that there is no such thing. Also one thing to consider is if u go to evo playing on original u wont be able to play ne of the top japanese @ 100 percent.
i already posted about this multiple times in this thread. version b is going to be reverse ported the arcades. i even posted a link to a blog of one of the developers at fransu pan confirming this. they don’t have a set date yet apparently, but even in japan everybody (who owns a ps2) is playing version b right now.
Im just goinna make this quick since I got the game yesturday…
- How many things are unlockable in the PS2 version of Act Cadenza? I know beating it will unlock Special/Ranking mode as well as Art and voices and stuff like that for the character you beat it with, however it looks like certain characters got more than just 1/2 artwork and I was wondering how to get the rest (survival? Im not into that shit but I guess I can give it a run).
-I doubt you unlock new characters so can anybody tell me all the unlockable stages? I’ve seen a few in Arcade Mode that I cant seem to get… like Neco Arc’s stage which I actually like but I doubt its unlockable… Also is that stage from MBR, the one with the bloody streets and the corpeses all over the place - in this game?
-Is Aoko Aozaki legal? I’ve seen her in alot of match vids, nice set ups w/ that little ball, and her combo’s aren’t as damaging as the other characters that I should be talking about right now, but alot of her attacks take up alot of screen not to mention she can easily get out of a corner and triple jump (also her air qcf+a/b/c) and is a good keep away IMO. The reason im wondering is because well… she’s a boss, and most bosses aren’t legal (the only game I know that you can play boss characters in is on Garou… even then im not sure cause I never played that shit competitively, though i’ve seen ppl use kain/grant in matches)
-Whats the diffrence between arcade/original (option in Game settings menu). I’ve toggled between the two and well… I never noticed a diffrence (I read a previous post that mentioned The Arcade Version had infinites for two characters that I wasn’t even aware had infinites… but yeah).
Im just jumping back on the MB bandwagon after getting bored of playing it all by myself on the PC
EDIT: Right, one more question, I was wondering about the button mashing to reduce damage feature. Do you have to press one button (specific?) or do you literally just gotta mash all 4 attack buttons to get damage reduced? Cause I was enver too sure on that so I would just mash all 4’s.
She is legal. Playable Aoko is completely different than boss Aoko. Aoko is considered lower tier in version A, by the way.
The changes have been discussed all around the thread. Its like comparing balance changes from GG #R to Slash (except that there are no new moves here). Original is the ‘version B’ that will be ported back to arcades.
However, isn’t the current version B and Original going to be version C? I think Spooky mentioned the same thing in this thread.
I wondered about the button pressing to reduce damage too. Do you have to do it in a rythem or is it just mashing as fast as you can? And does it matter what button you hit?
It’s so shiny… (anything obsecnely off with what went up there?)
Man, Kouma is retardedly easy to learn.
Next up: Aoko (and that is going to be a long-running project… hahaha christ)
aoko notes:
*SBC 214c seems to be pretty effective and safe. i think the ex flash carries enough inviciblity to pass through followups (still have to test more). the best part about it is that the ex is persistent and cannot be destroyed AND should it hit you have the (untechable) combo option after. if it trades, at least you get the knockdown. i’d recommend trying for this in max mode.
*SBC 4a+b (command b. dash) for aoko seems particularly good esp. when cornered. the backdash inivinciblity will pass through followups and since her b.dash recovering frames are cancelable, you can tag whiffed pokes.
*after throw at midscreen, opponents that tech neutral/back can be punished (HARD) w/ 22c. lol an easy 3000 damage if you guess correctly. use 214a/b (followed by combo) to punish foward techs or just simply throw again.
honestly, im not 100% sure on how effective the strats are but im putting it out there for others to experiment with. in the mean time, i’ll conduct further research.
btw- controlable throw is hella buff. fear the corner mines (421).
Wow Dippy, that’s some great work you’ve done on the wiki.
Can I help somehow ;p?
I posted those Aoko combo tricks 3 pages ago
I’m beginning to wonder if it’s even worth playing Sion anymore… but I suppose I’ll have to wait for top Ver. B players playing with her to see how badly she’s nerfed. Overall damage output seems to be lower, but like others have said, there could be new gimmicky type stuff waiting to be found with her. Her rushdown still seems very intact though. :o Then again, I’m learning here… >_>
ok this is really stupid but i just had to post.
on character select screen, if you pick aoko and shiki, shiki looks like he’s groping aoko’s breast in the larger image in the background. maybe it looks like this with other female characters too? sorry, there’s just something about boobs in general that i just need to blurt out periodically. i’m like this in real life too.
and good job on wiki, people!
With tits like those, I’d be groping them too~
I second that. xD
Introduction: GUUOOOOOOOOOAA
Sorry that just made my day.
Also, what are Y. Damage and R. Damage stand for?
Now that we’re all playing the game, hopefully we can collaboratively add data to the character specific sections.
aoko notes:
-
tk’d floating starmine (a, b and ex) gives aoko a recovery animation where she floats backward for extra frames until she reaches her normal jump height. so lower the orb placement, longer the recovery.
-
while a raining starmine is much faster than b raining starmine, the difference seems to be almost negligible when the moves are tk’d. also, b and ex can be tk’d much lower than the a version.
The main use of rainning starmine is keep away. TKing is pretty much not that useful. Especially if you land right next to your opponent.
it seems that way, but people do seem to toss it out in corner lockdowns sometimes (although i hear it can be air thrown if timed correctly?).
and the move does give you a free combo on counter hit.
also… in the wiki, it should be “blowing starbou” (or any of the previous examples i’ve noted). master chibi was only joking when he said “starburst”, and the words are not even remotely close. i could understand changing “blowning” to “blowing” since that would make it easier for people to understand (like mappa hunch --> mappa punch). but “blowing starburst” is way off. it’s unfortunate because i can’t decipher what ??? is supposed to be either. it is quite possible that ?? is taken from another european language, but i’ve certainly never heard of that term being used in japanese before so it could just be made up.
also, kouma’s move names are not engrish, they’re japanese. i just didn’t translate them because i assumed people just want to know the original names and not something goofy like “triple step comet” and “armor god”.
None of your other translations for “blowing starbou” made sense in English, either (you admit as much). My thinking behind putting Starbusrt (you don’t think I listen to CHibi, do you?) was that they were trying to phonetically spell out starbust, and just had no way to represent the last syllable so they dropped it. Given the context of her other moves, Blowing Starburst makes more sense than Blowing Starboard (unless you think that special looks like the battleship Yamato).
As a point of reference, how are bursts refered to on Japanese GG boards?
As for the Kouma entries… the whole ‘some Engrishy move name’ is just filler text from the template that I never replaced.
no, it’s definitely not starburst. it’s not spelled anything remotely close to that, and it’s definitely not intended that way either. trust me. i would’ve said that it’s starburst otherwise. if they wanted to say “starburst”, they’d type ???.
phoenetically it’s starbou/starbeau/starbough/starbow.
i’ll leave it up to you what you want to do with it, thouh.
