I’m going to battle KaneBlueRiver in two weeks. I guess I’ll start with Hawkeye.
Any tips on Jill vs Big Bodies? I got a lot scared because I have to think twice before feral dashing or going for a slide or an overhead… Armor… Armor… Armor… Plus, I guess Haggar is one of the worse Jill’s matchups. Do you guys agree?
No, with KBR, his weaknesss is easy when it comes to his team. IMO its HULK, its not Haggar. When you take out his Hulk the rest should not be a problem, especially since you main Hawkeye. Kill Hulk and lame the rest of his team out. I can say this cause i used to main Hulk/Jill/Sent and Hulk is definitely the heart of the team, because any hulk is always a one touch kill without reset on most of the cast. Even off a command throw Hulk can easily kill, so take him out.
I actually looked this up recently cause i was interested in Jill/Skrull/Sent. Plus you play with Spencer and Skrull so i thought this might help.
Snap Hulk out, take out Haggar.
The haggar matchup flucuates rapidly. Haggar isn’t that large of a problem, but it’s going to be Hulk bulldozing through your offense.
This is the only time where I rerally advocate mashing the hell out of Cr.L and playing extremely smart. Bait out unsafe stuff and go Low. LEAVE HAGGAR FOR ANCHOR. ANCHOR HAGGAR VS ANCHOR JILL IS A 0-10 IN HER FAVOR. On anchor, he can no longer jump pipe because you can easily just sumersault it. His only way in is on the ground, and keep going low to bait out lariats.
The haggar matchup isn’t that bad when you get used to it. Just can’t use normal jill stuff.
Quick Tip: If you get a hitconfirm on hulk, and lariat/drones is out, go Cr.L, Cr,M, Cr.H (optional), Flip Kick loops. Flip kick loops are INTEGRAL here bevcause Jill goes from her low position into the kick position, which will give enough time for the invincibility to pass; Happy birthday, and go into a pretty decent combo
If I jump nothing and he somersaults, I win, so it’s not that good. You want to either get rid of Haggar, or XF on touch against Hulk and make sure you kill him. Either way, if you play your standard team, Jill is the char I fear the least; both Skrull and Hawkeye are “natural” counters to me.
^no offense to you at all, I think you’re a great player and awesome dude from your posts in /r/eddit. But I think his Jill will win against your hulk with hawkeye assist. Her lights are extremely fast so lights + hawkeye assist will beat out your s. H. Just my opinion though.
Just some advice for you paulo, I would recommend watching some of his videos and try to download his play. He can do the same to you, but just see some of the things he gets beat by and some of the mistakes he makes. There’s bound to be some. Remember to not press buttons unless he left himself punishable. Also you can (probably ill test this out tomorrow) just dash through his H or jumping moves. Just 22s right through them while they are starting up cause they are slow.
It’s not like Wolverine + certain assists don’t fulfill the same role, and I’m still beating them. I know you want to support the fellow Jill user, but you need to be less biased. St.H alone doesn’t make T8 at american majors, and if it does, then american Marvel is in a pretty bad position, I’ll leave that to consider.
Paulo, I have no problems on telling you how to beat me. I thought that people understood that I don’t care about making my opponents stronger. I taught Eliver how to beat me because he approached me with interest in learning the matchup and I had no problem on teaching that to him. Making my opponents stronger will make me stronger at the end of the day, which is what I constantly aim for.
Even if Haggar does a empty jump you are still safe with somersault if you get into the habit of canceling them. 22+S, 2+H-2+S. By the way KBR i respect that Hulk play, one of my favorite Hulks to watch.
You are right in the fact that I am very biased. I will admit to that, and yes I’m just rooting for a fellow jill player. So yes, you’re right. To beat you, he truly has to outsmart you which is a tough thing to do, but, no offense to you at all, it is doable for him (IMHO). He just needs some experience against the matchup.

If you Empty jump and he somersaults, you do not win. Somersault is j.c on block and Feral-cancelable on block. If you Empty Jump and somersault he has about 5 different options to mix you up from there. The whole point of the matchup is just to take out Hulk and sent.
The Jill v. Haggar matchup one on one is horribly skewed in her favour.
1 - No, you don’t. I’m very good now at somersault whiffs/ cancels. I can somersault and then somersault again or just feral dash backwards to get safe out of Lariat. Plus, Jill has all the possible mixups in the game, and I can use mind game as well as you.
2 - I don’t have problems with point Haggar. I really know the matchup because here in Brazil there are 3 great Haggars (Bruno Wizard, Comboman70 and Er0tick). I’ll probably get rid of Hulk soon. I really like the idea of a snap on Sentinel, because his OTG is your main tool for Hulk’s devastating combos.
3 - My standard Jill team does not include Skrull anymore, but Spencer. Plus, I’ve got a Nova/ Skrull/ Hawkeye team, but I don’t want to play it because I really wanna show you Jill’s potential. Moreover, I adore the way you underestimate Jill. That’s when even the big bodies fall. That’s why Combofiend was hit by all of Jill’s tools. Jill may not be a top tier, but she’s an INCREDIBLE strong character, (A+, in my opinion) and she’s my favorite char of the game, so you have to deal with this passion too.
That’s good, because I have the same feeling. I don’t care about winning more than I care about learning pretty good stuff with out set.
