I don’t think any of Sakura’s supers are that good at all, however. They don’t do much damage and barely connect let alone comboable. Definitely bottom tier in this game.
Yeah her supers are mostly for combos only; her fireball can be used as anti-air (non super jump) though and is actually useful against BH since he’ll usually be jumping in with some form of hp/hk.
I can’t say bottom tier for sure; but yeah, that’s just me.
Dan is definitely not the worst in the game, if only due to one thing: He’s got a powerful throw pattern: Kick throw in the corner -> air throw. Repeat as necessary. That along probably mkes him better than the real garbage characters like Sakura and Shadow Chuckles.
Chun’s definitely creeping on the bottom tier, but not as bad as Sakura and Chuckles IMO. And Ken is pretty bad in this game as well. The only thing he has is dashing c.LK -> something. His dash recovers deceptively fast though.
Your best two characters are Wolervine and OMega Red. In that order. For multitude of reasons. There’s no disputing that (and if you are, then you aren’t playing the same game as the rest of us). After that, there’s a bit of debate.
Id’ actually put Dhalsim at no.3. He doesn’t have the same comboablity as in XSF, but he has launcher -> grab super that does 40% and, unlie in XSF, is untechable. And he can still throw like a madman. I’d pu BH next, thanks to zoning, chipping, runaway, and his awesome MK (all of them). Some people have BH as no.3, but I think Dhalsim’s better. BUt it coul be the other way around.
Then comes Spidey, for all the reasons mentioned. Stupid high-priority pogo-jumping pixie.
After that would actually be Ryu for me, since he has a deviously fast throw. Ryu can do walk up -> throw, repeatedly, and then sweep -> super if you blink. His air HK is also really good for getting in. Plus he has the semi-unblockable hurricane kick super (block it in the air and there’s a good hance you’re going to get hit anyway; the best time to try it is after you’ve killed one opponent, then start it up just before the second character comes in; as a bonus, with some characters [not Hulk], you can then launch them afterwards into air combo into super for more damage).
Cyclops is good, but nowhere near as retarded as in XSF. He’s probably upper mid, probably around the same place as RYu. I’d place Ryu above him personally, but it could go either way.
Mega Z is a solid mid character. He dies to Cyclops, and he doesn’t like Omega Red, but he can hold his own against Wolverine (though Wolvie doesn’t die to him for free - Wolvie can keep him at bay by turning on Berserker Rage, and just doing JabJabJabJabJabFierce, repeat) and a lot of the others. Though I found myself winning with Gief more often back in the day, probably because every time I went for Mega Z, I’d have to face at least one Cyclops.
INdividually, Captain America and U.S. Agent aren’t that great. However, they are intrestesing as a team. Thanks to their powerful assist, you can get a really retarded pattern of call assist, super-jump fierce, repeat.
Hulk has a really good assist too. He’s not that great in the field though.
Bison does a lot of damage with very few hits.
That’s all I can remember with this game. Anyone else I haven’t mentioned, like Shuma or Akuma, are merely okay.
ultima speaks the truth. I was going to post this but I got too lazy. I do disagree with his placement of Sim though, but he is pretty good, truth be told.
It’s fuggin intense to see a good Dhalsim player in this game…No combos necesary…just slide kick into Yoga Fire, a couple drills here and there, and use the teleport properly and you’ve got yourself a bomb ass Dhalsim. …Only, it’s much harder than I made it sound.
Is Mephisto a better choice than BH???
I’ve noticed that his attacks light his opponent on fire. I’m not too sure of any differences damage/stamina wise between BH/Mephisto. Can anyone elaborate?
Also same question about CapA/USAgent. I’ve noticed that USAgent is slightly faster and does less damage then CapA. He has less stamina as well. Am I imagining this or can anyone confirm??
You’re absolutely right; US Agent is faster. I personally like US Agent better as a standalone character, because Cap is just too slow for my tastes.
Mephisto does a little bit more damage and stun (hit and dizzy) than BH, but not noticeably more.
You forgot to mention Mephisto is much faster. A speedier and stronger BH basically. Not 100% on his stamina, might be lower, but I never personally checked.
And as I said before; Sim is anti-BH, which really does bump his tier up there. A good Sim player is able to track down a BH even as they’re playing keep away, he’s that good (if you play him RIGHT).
The top three is arguably Wolvy, Red and BH though, no question. The order seems to change depending on who you ask.
I tested out a couple things on my emulator:
I can’t notice any difference in speed/damage/stamina between BH and Mephisto.
For CapA/USAgent, I can’t notice any difference in speed/stamina, however Cap A is doing slightly more damage
got any CapA/USAgent combo??
ur best combo with cap/US agent is
jump in hp, (land) s.lk, s.mkxxhyper stars n stripes
I’m at work just playing this game… anyone care to elaborate on the Spiderman infinite?
-McFly
AFAIK, it’s some variation of the MSH infinite (s.strong, strong DP, repeat)
It’s [standing Strong-> delayed Jab Spider Sting] x n. Works best on DARK, Norimaru Wolverine, Chun and Sakura. I don’t think it’s possible on the heavier, larger characters such as Hulk or Zangief.
He also had a somewhat tricky re-launching Air Combo infinite; something along the lines of: standing Roundhouse /\ sj. Short x 3-> sj Jab-> sj. Short / standing Roundhouse. Larger characters only, though.
I’m so glad Chuckles replaced Dan as the worst character in the game :lovin:
Because he really is THAT bad :wasted: Stupid eye-flash…
Some dumb crap noone mentioned:
Sunburned Sakura’s hurriance kick super does a ton of damage for some reason.
Mech Zangief takes about 50% damage from one Omega Destroyer.
Captains have the best team super, STAR STAR.
You can’t OTG after Chaos Dimension which sucks if you like Shuma.
I was about to say the Spiderman infinite (harder than it sounds) works on shotos but I guess that’s who DARK is.
I think Cyclops could air combo super OB from j+dFP but I’m not 100% sure.
