I’m also a lazy artist! Who knew?!
I’ll try to scan something tomorrow to show some of my style. It’s 2 AM now so now I got an excuse to be tired.
Edit: I’ll also subscribe to this thread to keep my eye out.

lol i haven’t told you all the details of the story nor if i’m potentially building a story that is gonna be different than whats been laid in the past. i’m not gonna reveal it all. I’m only giving you guys a small sample, like i said before if i didnt mention it…the tournament is one aspect in a 3 saga story.
vol. 1(the tournament) i imagine this as 24-28 issues
vol.2 (what happens after the tournament), this will be an adventure aspect.
vol.3 side stories…fill ins for what was missing in vol. 1 and 2…rather than how mangas do it where they interrupt the flow of issues and break it up with fillins to do backstory or tenjoe tenge which have volumes for backstories but breakk up the flow…this will be at the end.
I can’t lay all my cards out on srk…aiign’t having you fools steal my ideas. I’ve been reading comics since i was 6 and talking to writers and artists about my stuff since i was 14. I defintly know what i’m doing when i gear my stuff up…the only piece missing is an artist and i know exactly what kinda artist i want. Someone who does animation and comics…they understand the fluidity of things…like my boy steve valdez…his art even if its a stand alone pinup…it has a flow to it…it almost seems like you can see it moving. Lesean thomas also has this skill.
I don’t think in panels i think in animation style…everything moves in my head when i write it out. Which also makes it easier if it were to happen to translate to animation/film since thats how i think. I have no idea if all writers think this way…but i do.
also i don’t get how i’m elitist…because its how i wanna write my story. It’s just something i love and love to read and so i would believe their are others out there like me. It doesn’t mean its gonna be the only style i ever do in my life…but if i could i would like to start a company around that genre, it wouldn’t be the only one but in the beginning thats my ideal situation. Being elitist means i’m not open to other ideas…lol…i am.
Actually here’s some of my stuff that I found. They’re as old as half a year to about 3 months old.
I’ll post up some new stuff soon.
My oldest stuff I could find currently. About 2-3 years old. Pics of my assignments I did for my drawing class at MDC:

Nah Nah you got me wrong, I was calling you elitilist for only doing a company that only does fighting comics. I think you should instead have a company for writers or artists that are compassionate to their work and not just doing the damn job for a paycheck.
For real though if you like that genera do it then man but don’t just have a company or group that dedicates only to that genera. There’s alot of fresh ideals from the others as well.
P.S. If I succeed in my major and feel I’m ready to write comics I’m going into your company if that’s okay with you sir?
Honestly from that description, I keep thinking you should talk to Skottie Young. His stuff always makes me wonder how it would look animated because of his style. He used to do some of Marvel Mangaverse Spiderman books and most recently, he has been doing art for New X-Men’s current story arc.
Of course getting him is an entirely different matter. Skottie Young
Thanks, Zeph if I ever get anything published remind me to give you a free copy.
haha your welcome aboard dude.I probably am gonna start out with just a studio at first…haha looks like we got two writers at least for the studio.
ya i’ve grown up on skotties work…his style wouldn’t translate well for what i wanna do…the conception i have in my head just doesn’t look good with his style.
but this does:
http://project450.com/sketch/KEN_MASTERS.swf
the last he actually took from a street fighter pixel and did it up sf:hd style.
I like the idea of this thread, but Does copying other poeple’s stuff(whom you like of course) really help you out when you first start out? I have a shitload of ideas but the get lost in the translation to paper.
LOL his right, I mean look what happened to the guys that Originally came up with facebook, that programmer they hired took their Idea and made it his own, totaly screwed them over and we know how popular facebook is now, while the other guys have another site that has far less memebers.
Of course they were friends at the time but money does funny things to people.
I know thats not a comic example but shit like that happens in ever medium.
I would advise before you guys get your comics out in public you go see a lawyer espeically if your sigining contracts because you dont wanna get screwed, I was told this by Helen McCarthy herself when she was in my town.
People might seem nice but dont buy into the men in suits.
Also defently get you stuff copyrighted and stuff.
Not saying your ideas might be huge or anything but you never know, better to cover your ass in case.
What do you mean by copy exactly?
If you mean inspire you then no problem, if you mean their art style no problem, If you mean straight up copy their designs and characters then hell no, if you do that they will try suing you or someshit.
I had a problem like that many years ago, I drawed this character for a guy that he cameup with ages ago, however I put that design up on my site I failed to mention his name anywhere, I wasnt taking credit for the idea it was just to show my art, anyway he went mad next time I seen him he wanted to fight me no joke, pretty sure if other peps went around we would have, anyway that taught me a big lesson, you want to be real careful when you use the word copy.
I have some ideas for a comic wanted to get my art skills up first because I suck lol, its way off yet just in my head kinda thing but I have a good idea where Im going with it, probably wont be till next year till I get it going.
any of you used lulu? I was thinking of using that for my printing base, they sound pretty good.
As a professional technical writer and grammar nazi, I’d be willing to look over and touch up any writing done in anybody’s comics. A far off dream of mine is to learn how to draw well and make my own comics, so I gotta start somewhere, right?
If anyone’s interested, PM me.
thats the wonderful thing about the internet…once it hits the net…its automatically copyrighted. Now i wont actually post my ideas online…i got my notebooks for that…but i will post some of the designs…i’m thinking of starting a blog or lj purely based on this comic and it’s progression. But ya i’ve been looking into how you copyright characters and learned, that the old myth is true once you post it online its automatically copyrighted. Cause everything has its own upload date so its easy to prove if you uploaded sumtin earlier than say someone else. As well as their are tons of art organizations out there who are willing to help protect your rights as an artist/writer.
though writing seems sumtin a lil hard to protect…hence why my writing is staying in my notebooks.
No no no I meant for practicing purposes. No I wouldnt dare stealing someone else’s shit because I had my shit stolen before so I know how that feels.
well i dunno if you meant artwise or writing wise…for art at least we all start out copying someone else’s style. It helps to understand how to design figures and just getting started in art.
I was a dbz fucking whore…i mean i bowed at the altar of akira toryama. But as i developed i’ve developed my own style of art…though i am influenced…i don’t straight rip anymore. it also helps to get you to understand an exagerrated form of anatomy…to truly understand that you gotta draw from life and see the different types and builds of people.
All greats have to start from somewhere…i’ve seen some old lesean stuff that was clearly jim lee influenced…he hadn’t found his voice yet. It doesnt seem like he did til he started doing animation.
Ruining dreams since 2001.
So you’re basically going to do King of Enter the Dragon: The Comic.
Dragon Ball was originally comedy/action. Yu Yu Hakusho was originally fantasy/comedy. Tenjou Tenge is just cheesecake. The point is, which features nothing but fighting cannot in anyway be good. For one thing, flipping through a 24 page comic book in under five minutes because the entire issue consisted of guys hitting each other is nearly a waste of the three bucks the reader plunked down to read it. Secondly, if the action is going to be the main pull for the story, you’ve already set yourself up for failure.
In comics especially, characterization and dialogue are equally important. I’ve seen comics succeed when telling a great story coupled with dynamic action sequences, and I’ve seen comics succeed based on telling a great story alone. But I’ve never seen a comic take off based on its action sequences alone.
What, precisely, about your idea is so original? You have a martial arts tournament where entrants must form teams of three. The tournament host is a billionaire. The tournament is a ruse. You have culled everything in this idea so far from KOF.
No thanks bro, I’m good.
Then don’t write for comics. Write a spec script for animation. Otherwise, if you’re unable to think about how the story is presented on the page, you’ve now burdened your artist with even more work, and your story will be all the more filtered through his interpretation of your work. With comics, you have to be clear and concise when writing, or you should otherwise just hang it up.
i’m not gonna reply to every point, nor do i need to. I’m doing my own thing…your not really ruining anyones dreams cuz i don’t care what your opinion is. Nothing you point out is going to make me change my views. I’m not writing comics for a big company like marvel. So i don’t have to change my views or thinking. I’m writing a comic thats gonna be made by me and some friends. Nor am i going to write an animation script…why when its meant to be a comic. I’d be working with likened thinking artist…i know of artists who have the same thinking as i do.
Haven’t you guys noticed the recent uprising in art styles that are more akin to animation? or style of paneling that is like animation? Its a trend thats gonna keep going.
like i said only the beginning part of the saga is cliche’d. It’s the middle and after the tournament things get interesting. But like i said thats really all i need to put down right here on srk.
…
Anyways…i’m interested in getting together with some srk people trying to get into the industry. Possibly forming some kind of group…try to push eachother to advance ourselves to get into the industry. Would any fellow writers/artist be interested in doing something like that?
Friendly neighborhood mod trying to mind his own business…
I’m not directing this at any one person in particular. Please keep the gloves on - like everyone has been doing so far for the most part - is all that I’m asking. Thanks. Carry on…
Oh yeah I think I have some SF related stuff lying around on the net somewhere I can toss up so this post can just be 90% annoying instead of 100%…
I’m so out of touch w/fighting games, but starting to dig the Udon SF work.
I’ve worked in animation a while & had a 4-pg story I wrote, drew & published & in a compilation comic sold down in San Diego some years back. I think all the books are gone so I can post a page for the heck of it-

I’m finishing my first webcomic in Flash right now & hope to get it to print somehow.
Here’s my leads for when I’m done:
http://www.lulu.com/
http://www.webcomicsnation.com/
I’d be happy to do some art. Fighting or non. Even a fighting comic needs parts without fighting, which I’d dig even more. Especially for a nominal sum.:wonder:
haha sounds good.
some logo ideas i was messing with…not 100% for the group i’m forming. I’m also bringing in some of my college graphic design friends since we’re also like minded people. just was messing with illustrator.

I like the second logo better than the first one.
For fun I drew Ryu and Chun-Li’s bastard son lol! I named him Tonbo, Japanese for dragonfly. I colored it in later on but I never got around to scanning that. I think I reversed the image too and changed it up a bit, don’t remember too much. It’s just another thing I have to remember to scan at some point. This is back when the art forum had a create a SF character contest. Lol who did you think I was gonna create?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/futaenokiwami/Tonbo2.jpg
This is Chun-Li fighting against Twelve who is X.C.O.P.Y.ing AKA imitating Ryu.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/futaenokiwami/Chun-LiVs.jpg
And this is that scientist Studio Udon uses all of the time for their SF comics lol!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/futaenokiwami/Scientist.jpg
Give me a few weeks and I’ll scan some more stuff. I have an older comic strip story too.
My 24 hour comic stopped at ten pages because I got diarrhea at, like, 7:00 AM. I just figured I’d let everybody know how it turned out.
