I used to think Dan was the joke character, but I digress. Fei Long is the real joke character. Both his ultras suck, and he didnt really get any fixes, other than the dash fix, and maybe a frame re-adjustment here and there. I will probably still main Fei, but it would have been nice of Capcom to give us something to work with.
are you serious? It’s a miracle we even got a dash fix and a few frame adjustments if thats true. I made a list of like 10 things and im glad they fixed at least 1
If Ultra 1 will combo 3 hits after Shien>FADC>CW then Fei gets a boost from about 350 damage off FADC to probably around 400-450, which (if I remember correctly) 450 is about the same as FA>Ultra.

theoretically yes. but remember, ultras across the board were supposed to get hit with the nerf stick . so if unscaled raw full meter ultra is still 495dmg, then you are correct
EDIT-you can do the combo you listed in reg sf4 on honda for 3 hits after the cw. with full ultra you get 480dmg

Did anyone notice @ 8:00 Fei does an EX Rekka which hits at max range, misses the link, then connects a sweep. I’m sure that was not possible in vanilla. However, the vid is really choppy. Rose may have been in the start-up frames of attack making her hitbox closer. IDK… What do you guys think?
i dont think it did. the others got nerfed because you could get really high damage combos from them. like cammy doing 2 dps for 300. fei’s never really posed a problem as far as comboing into good damage. but we will have to wait and see as you said. there was a post made a couple days ago about dp nerfs, and feis name wasn’t on the list tho.
After seeing more and more videos I’m looking forward to this counter ultra and I think people really need to stop dismissing it. The Cammy vs Chun video shows just how hard Cammy’s counter ultra hits and that was a killing blow so it still wasn’t showing max damage. Everyone is getting ruffled and mad when they could almost be looking a gift horse in the mouth. If these counter ultras do something in the range of 600 or 550 or something you bet your ass I’m picking counter ultra every time. These people doing these previews aren’t playing competitive matches and on top of THAT they have already tossed away Fei’s counter ultra as a joke. I would much rather have the counter ultra in my bag than a little extra damage due to ultra 1 possibly hitting a bit better on juggle. Think of slightly unsafe rekka pokes, catching limbs after blocked medium chicken wing (safe but barely), eating throw techs, Guile’s crouch roundhouse, vipers flame kick, ect ect. The options are there, and you have a tool that can make an opponent really be careful with his pokes, or even make a conditioned opponent fall right into your trap. Catching armor breakers would have been cool, but think about what that could catch. I’m not saying it would make Fei overpowered, but it would tear the walls down for over half the cast against Fei, sort of how shotos can’t throw fireballs when Chun has ultra in vanilla.
Don’t hate on this guys, it could be a ton better than you think, especially if the damage we’ve seen is accurate. Spend your time thinking of ways to incorporate it instead of bitching about how much greater it could be.
Damage is nothing when there’s nearly no way to land it beside throwing it out randomly, the only reason why it does that much damage because it isn’t scaled from being comboed because it CAN’T be comboed, a FULL ultra unscaled would deal pretty close to the same damage as a counter ultra.
Your doing it right there though look, “really no way to land it besides throwing it out randomly.” You really don’t get it, use your tools, make people fear that damage anytime. It’s a lot of damage especially when the classic “combo into ultras” have been taken down a bit.
Fei Long just needs his FADC to ultra 1 to land and get the full ultra. I honestly think if they gave everyone a decent setup for their ultra most weaker characters would be much better.
Fear or not, in the end to actually make use of that damage you STILL have to guess - its a random guess no matter what angle you look at it, there’s no way or any setup you can do that would GUARANTEE the damage, its always a guess, you can’t even really use it REACTIVELY.
Akuma has an ultra that deals a lot of damage, but people don’t really “fear” it that much because its SO hard to land in a match and it also has a little more applications, you can use it reactively if someone jumps and you can land it off an FA, it even has invincibility frames so it can be used as a counter attack as well.
Funny you say that manic because cody gets his full ultra 1 when the first hit connects in a juggle.
Point is damage means little if you don’t have a reliable way to land it. If the counter ultra actually worked on armour break moves as well then it wouldn’t be as bad, but the fact that it has almost the SAME weaknesses as a focus attack and more makes it less than reliable.
