You know… it’s not even that. It’s just the stuff they give him to work with is sub par. They could make cr.MP special cancelable and he’s still bruce. Chicken Wing could be overhead and he’s still bruce. Comboing off his overhead… yep still bruce. Flame kick juggles until ultra and… well actually he’s even more bruce then.
Not to mention if they want to give him new moves, there’s plenty of movies and footage to pull from. Tekken has Law and he’s S tier and is the damn near spitting image of Bruce Lee… it’s just that Namco gave him good options.
They just simply need to buff the character. More damage, better safety, more options. I was playing ST today Fei vs Honda thinking why Fei just kinda sucks and really it’s just all in how effective his moves are. Honda can fly into me head first repeatedly and yet all the moves in my arsenal really didn’t have an answer for it. Some guy can do ONE MOVE and win while I have to use my entire arsenal and really really think just to beat that one move. Something is wrong there. Fei just needs something strong to fall back on… but it seems like playing a good Fei means using EVERYTHING to it’s fullest potential at the exact right time where each move has an application. He needs something strong and character defining… something I think the character kind of lacks.
Ask yourself, what does Fei really do well? I can’t actually think of anything. Nothing stands out as really being that strong of a point that he can hold over other characters.
