The Low-Tier team thread

let me know. we could get some games in if he wanted/had some time.

anak/sonson/bbhood is crazy good. one of my faves. the THC’s damage/chip is ridiculous! you can set sonson’s assist to the monkeys…so that she’ll turn into the big monkey during the THC for even more! sonson shenanagins plus hood missile is GADLIKE too. I have some curse infinites with hood assist too. but not as good as sim ones or anything.

I actually use iceman’s ice ball assist as it sets up a real good curse infinite.

Haha! Cool stuff! Anakaris is Alpha right? Now I have a new fun team for them…

yeah he’s the snakebite assist. I also use snakebite assist with marrow for some launch+anak, fp, fpbonearang combos.

Not exactly low tier, but I’ve been playing more and more as Dhalsim(AAA)/Spiral(Ground)/Sentinel(Ground)

Once I started doing silly resets like I fell in love with the team. I put either Spiral or Sim first but I despise DHCing into either of them and of course don’t naked tag. I really like this team but is there any low tier equivalent to drones? Spiral and Sim both get infinitely stronger with drones behind them and although I love playing as Sentinel I’m trying to find at least 1 team devoid of gods that meshes with my play styles.

Primarily zone and rush with Sim using Spiral’s glorious ground type assist when mixxing up and Sentinel when playing at a distance.

With Spiral I pretty much ignore my beloved Dhalsim exists except for DHCing purposes, lots of knives and drones and super jump/fast fall to try and find a safe way to get knives out and the enemy in block stun.

Sentinel’s a busted excellent character anyways, these assists play much better to having him on stomp pressure in comparison with other things where this team doesn’t augment his magnificent defense.

Any suggestions from you excellent people?

Closest I’d say is Sabretooths proj assist.

But people who matter like Magneto can just duck under Saber’s projectile assist right? >.<

im not sure who can duck under it, but i know people can. then again, you can avoid most assists with jumping… try getting them to duck under, and then overhead.

Main thing is if they aren’t in block stun they can mash out psy/cyke/cap/sent to give a hole for them to SJ out of which is what I’m trying to avoid, I want to keep them honest with neutral push blocking.

I’ve been in lockdown from wolve/sabre a few times, I think it’ll do the job. Any other proj assist like BB Hoods would also do well.

haha yeah i agree with Diet, even if they can duck sabre’s proj. assist, keeping them in a position that they aren’t prepared to react as swiftly in is good. and you’ve got plenty of rush down options with dalsim, and some great pressure tactics with spiral. if you end up against MSP, well psylocke can only aaa a short distance, so cornertrapping is easier against that team. some of the top tier characters have lots of options but the simple truth is not a lot of people know all those options. so even if you can’t keep them too honest with guardstun, allowing them to move where and when you want them too can be just as deadly since they think they’re exploiting an opening, go all out with a counter maneuver, and get tapped for a nasty combo string.

when you’re rocking low-tier, “sneaky” is the best next thing to “inescapable”, IMHO.

Even if they can duck saber’s proj assist they will be forced to stand up into it when you start over heads with wolvie. So either they duck and let you get free combos or they stand up into and let you do your block string.

Little late to this thread, but I think VDO has the best double wolvies EASILY. Too scary.

Seconded, his double wolv/Ken is just scary rushdown.

My friend (Anotak) is a big fan of Mega Man/Juggernaut/ BB Hood.

He builds meter with Mega Man’s HP, and then gets a killer team super with one frame fullscreen with Juggernaut and BB.

I’ve found that you can do something similar with Anakaris (still BB and Juggernaut on the team) by doing the coffin drop at the peak of a super jump over and over.

Most low tiers can’t really do anything about this, especially if you alternate the heavy and light versions. It builds meter really fast, and it does a lot of damage if it hits. If they ever get up there, just do his command throw.

So do the same rules on that first low tier post still apply as far as legal characters go?

Is Strider considered high tier without Doom?

I’m trying to figure out a low tier version on cl0ckwork basically.

me and beats have talked about mummy run away with coffin drops. I pointed out that it wasn’t fair and the only way to really stop him is by picking mando on your team. especially if mummy gets hit by other AA’s like col\ken\ryu\sonson\cammy\guile, he gets flung so far that he’s above the range of characters SJ’s. Then me and beats come to an agreement that when we play, he can’t do it more than 2-3 times in a row and any more than that was cheating.

That mummy run away is pretty brutal, if you don’t pick capcom, you’ll never bring him down consistently with a majority of the cast. Only a few low tier characters can actually catch him up there. IMO, mummy has always been border line top tier. Its really hard to put a rule on him.

Every time I see the other guy pick mummy, I always pick cap because nothing in the low tier rules says mummy has to stop running away. Its the only assist in the low tier league that gives bums who can’t SJ\DJ a chance to hit him out the sky.

Yes Strider is high-tier without doom.

I’ve been working on Strider/Iceman/Capcom. Its pretty fun, but it has like no health. Like none whatsoever. Your Strider has to be gdlk to work this team.

that team sounds pretty fun actually, i’m gonna give that a try. I’m also wondering if blackheart is top tier, because on the newbie thread he’s listed as top ten, but on the wiki war machine takes his spot.

Also, what is the baby clock team?

Blackheart is Top 10.

The tier list goes:

Storm
Sent
Magneto
Cable
IM
Cyclops
Spiral

WM
Strider
Blackheart
Doom

Dhalsim
Anakaris
psylocke/capcom/tron and the rest of them.

(I put the characters I refer the top ten in bold)

Maybe not in that order. I refer it the top 10 because IM and WM are basically the same character although they have different hypers and different variations with infinites. Leaving 10 characters that are viable.

And lol BabyClock is IM/Strider/Doom. I call it BabyClock because IM is so much smaller than Sentinel and they are basically with Strider/Doom so they can build meter. It was used by clock jr. who is basically the apprentice of Clockwork. All you do is build meter with the infinite or RTSD with IM/Doom. IM’s assist gets your opponent closer on block it seems, so it helps with starting off the trap. Clockw0rk is far superior, because your Sentinel could be average to ass and you could still dominate with Strider/Doom. In baby clock, you would have to know your shit with IM and/or Strider. I know some Strider shit thanks to shoultzula, but my IM is so fucking terrible lol.

thats so true. though some low tiers may spend a power level just to bring an abusive Anakaris down. (coffin dropping out of the screen, even commando’s corridor can’t reach it! Or even hail storm because anakaris is not on the screen!).
