The Low Level Tennessee Thread Full of Casuals :)

I’ll play add ShoryukenFADC on xbl

So just asking are are dlc allowed for tag 2 for ling of bling?

@sev
What do you notice whenever we played Wednesday? I still feel like I’m playing tekken wrong.

Well im not Sev but I noticed you do a lot if unsafe shit that a better player than I would bust yo ass for. Also I wouldn’t get too use mids missing on Kun because once they fix it you going get lit up from that bad habit of ducking so much

Most tournaments are following rule that DLC characters aren’t allowed until after October 9. This includes Kuni, Angel, Michelle, Ancient Ogre, and obviously the others like Dr. B, Skinny Bob, Violet, etc. Not Forest, Alex, P. Jack, and Tiger who were just console exclusive and already on disc.

Edit: Forgot that King of Bling is week after Tek Arena? So yea they should be allowed.

Man im slaw at this game but I will tell you what I can. There are more cons than pros but I think thats what you wanted anyway

Pros- 90% of the time your hitting your combos including wall carry, bind at wall etc. I dont know a ton about your chars but it felt like you were getting big dmg which is good

Cons:
-Whiffing: You are whiffing way too many moves mid match. Thats a bad habit a lot of players have early in in Tek because they are still not as good with the spacing and what not in the game. Your going to need to work on this a lot because it will get you killed fast. Pretty much every char can punish whiffed moves with launchers and some of them from silly ranges like Baek/Leo.

-Unsafe: You are also using a lot of unsafe moves too much. Askua has that sweep into high launcher and you were going to that a lot. That second hit is high and can be ducked on reaction and then you eat a WS punisher more than likely a launcher. I should have punished it way more than I did but as I said above im slaw lol.

-Movement: As with every new player your movement needs a lot of work (note so does mine). But you dont really utilize your side steps and back dashes as well as you should. This is key to spacing properly to either entice other players to whiff something for you to punish or to get in a range where your moves are better than theirs etc. I also dont see you doing any kinds of set ups to try and bait other players into attacking only to ave you SS and punish or launch. This is part of frame trapping and I can show you some basic examples next time

-Punishment: I dont know if you know all of your punishers yet. It didn’t feel like it. You need to get down your i10-i15 for both chars and learn what you can punish and do so every time. IMO there will be a lot of defensive style "safer play in this game long term cause the dmg is SO high so you will want to get in your 20 or 30 dmg whenever you can on stuff that is -10 or 11. Also most new players just look to try and launch punish everything and ad mid to high levels thats a lot more rare unless you got a good read. At the very least you should be getting 1,2 on anything that is -10 and doesn’t have a ton of push back

I would try and start there. In terms of playing the game wrong your fine. Everyone who is new to tek does this especially if your coming from a 2d background. The thing most people do wrong is thinking the game is about launchers and huge dmg then wall oki. That is actually a small part of it your main focus should be on basics which is mostly what I mentioned above.

Well I really want to learn a mishima, but then lei was cool.

How does CD dashing work?

Um… like…http://shoryuken.com/forum/index.php?threads/ttt2-tutorial-videos.168924/

I’ll make it down this tuesday.

…um…excuse me? No. This isn’t how this works.

Like really? I’m being “called out” by my government? The shit my grandmother gave me? Dude, before you were even in the picture, myself and the other “vets” did everything we could to support this scene. We traveled to every tournament we were able (this includes the 7 months i was UNEMPLOYED after I graduated and Jason graciously gave me a part time job at the arcade so I could have essentially gas money and free games so I could keep up practice), even when working full time jobs. Admist all that still making time to practice. Even before we had an established weekly fight night we would just say fuck it and squad up at the arcade for crack sessions, putting up fight night numbers on some spur of the moment shit. Before the baby we got a hold of Jason as much as we could trying to get matchup experience and level up. When we went out of state and did well, or impressed people, we MADE DAMN SURE they knew where we were from and knew about the arcade. Shit, Shawn got top 64 at his FIRST Final Round appearance and D’Nyce said, QUOTE, “You gotta respect Tennessee.”

You know what’s funny about that? I DON’T EVEN ENJOY GOING TO MAJORS. I’ve spent my birthday in a hot ass ballroom waiting three hours for my match to be called while TOs let top players do whatever they please. I’ve driven the 3.5 hours of SHIT on 1-40 to Memphis BY MYSELF to go to Memphis or Arkansas tournaments. Then I get to Memphis and drove 2 more hours to ARK on like 5 hours of sleep to get to the tournament. I’ve passed up on watching my little cousins’ basketball games to come out and support a Jason or Milln event.

But fuck me honestly, I ain’t shit. I’m almost more upset that you name dropped Eddie. Eddie “Comfortable Tech” Buford. The man that is without question the most laid back, and among the most generous dudes in our whole scene. This man let all manner of motherfuckers (myself and you included - but maybe you forgot about that) and even STRANGERS crash at his crib when they came into town for tournies, and i could FEEL he was uneasy about it. He’s hosted COUNTLESS gatherings at his place. He will play people as long as they want and volunteer every bit of advice he knows completely unprovoked. That fool genuinely wants people to improve, as do all of us.

I’m not gonna sit here and spit the resume of every person you mentioned there (plus if you wanna talk TN “Vets” you are leaving out a LOT that are probably way more deserving of the title than myself). I just don’t understand where this is coming from. You have no right to be condescending towards me or anyone else you mentioned when we’ve been supporting this shit since jump. I am on a hiatus and STILL come out to fight nights. The last one i went to only had 4 people and was within the past two weeks. I don’t intend to play this game, but off the top of my head you’ve been to how many out of state events? Two? Power Play the one year and the last Season’s Beatings? Where were you when we were front and center supporting ShinBlade in KoF top 8 at Final Round last year? If i recall you were at home…watching the stream. Did I come on SRK talking about, “why didn’t ZETH BELT come to Final Round?” No. I kept shit moving.

As far as you moving to Nashville to be closer to the scene - that’s on nobody but you homie. To try to pin your being “disheartened” on myself, Eddie, or anyone else you mentioned is completely unfair and foolish. You are a grown man dude. And again I really didn’t appreciate you calling me out by my name - I felt that was very inconsiderate.

Here is basically where I am with the fighting game shit - I’m more or less done with competing due to several reasons, both personal and stemming from frustrations with the overall fighting game “community.” If anyone wants to discuss my reasoning in detail feel free to approach me. But In my opinion this shit stopped being a “community” a long time ago. Myself, Milln, and others busted our fucking ass for Midwest, had an EVO sponsor, IPW and SRK article and we had LESS turnout than last year… LESS. So where I am now - I’ll do whatever I can to support Jason and Milln if they approach me, and I’ll enter their events, but that’s it.

I’m not sure what you were trying to accomplish with these posts man but they were just unfounded and uncalled for.

New KoF DLC:

Chris Brown, with the power of FLAMES and Cookeville Plaza stage.

$5.00/400 Microsoft points

Hey everyone!!! Its been awhile since I been on here but anyway I got three things:

  1. @Sev- Dude I tried to add u on PSN and it didn’t work. Perhaps I spelled it wrong?

  2. @Mike- Yo we should play sometime whevever u get some time and tell marcus to delete some friends off his list so I can add him!

  3. Is anyone hosting this weekend sometime? Damn job got me tied up both saturday and sunday so I really won’t be goin out this weekend prolly :frowning:
And if anyone else who is on PSN thats playing TTT2 hit me up at cbk_ownage.

15 sounds like quite a few peeps…juss sayin…

Ok man ……sigh The fact that I even have to explain myself ON HERE is ridiculous. If you have a problem with how I’m not able to make it to fight night or local gatherings, I would appreciate it if you sent me a PERSONAL message instead of sand-blasting my shit on this forum.

Now with that said, since you posted your whiny rant on here, I have a responsibility to clarify some misunderstandings as to WHY it is that you haven’t been seeing my ass at local tournaments/local gatherings and trying out these new fighting games as of late.

  1. Number one reason as to why I don’t come out. I’m busy as fuck. I work 2 jobs as well.
  2. I am helping my niece in school work Tues-Wed and Thurs evenings. 9th grade is a bitch.
  3. I don’t know the first thing about Persona 4, you might as well chalk that up along with KOF 13, Marvel, Tekken 6, etc…don’t have the time to pick those games up becaussssseeee………
  4. I’m having a shit ton of fun playing “Guido Wars 2” with what little free time I have left (which is mainly weekends these days after I finish build gaming computers for my small ass client-base.)
  5. When my head and stomach can tolerate it, I’m having a shit ton of fun playing “Broader Lands 2” (which I would play a ton more if I didn’t suffer from severe dizziness from playing first person shooters.)
  6. I’m working on getting back into making music (hip hop beats…used to do it every day and would like to get back into it.) like I did back in the late 90’s…yeah…
  7. See 1.
  8. See 1.

It’s very important that you understand Number 1. I would say I did my fair share of travelling to tournaments and getting my ass kicked. I competed in local tournaments and had fun at the time…and enjoyed getting my ass kicked. I’ve hosted numerous times at my crib, which, by the way, was a fucking blast. I’ve even let people crash at my place because I care about people. But these days I’m not so sociable because…well…see reasons 1-8.

In short…that’s why. I wanna do and pursue some other shit…deal with it. Don’t like it, eat cans of sour cream 'n onion pringle dicks…like…until the appetite is satisfied. Then, eat some more.

Edit: Maybe when the school year is close to over and I have more time, then I’ll come out and support and show love and all that jazz like I have when I first jumped on the scene. But for now I got other biz to handle…

I should be able to make it this week. Been tight on money the last two weeks. Not really interested in any recent fighting games that came out recently and can’t really say I’m looking to any other new FG’s in the future. Been a bit of a GGPO monster lately.

Only games I plan on playing are games on GGPO and Skullgirls really. Maybe some KoF here and there but I don’t really have the motivation to practice it.

If anyone plays Breakers Revenge, Karnov’s Revenge, Garou, SFA2, or maybe some other games on GGPO send me a PM.

Edit: oh shit I forgot Guilty Gear was coming soon. Will definitely try to play that when it comes out.

@josh
Lol I keep forgetting about that glitch. Even if the glitch was gone if still crouch cuz I’m not good at quick crouch mix ups yet.

@sev
Yeh I really do play unsafe. That asuka sweep thing was my goto move in six. I only got to start playing that in April and I didn’t really get to play anyone. I feel like I play a lot more safer with Kuni because I’m still just fresh with her. But I know kuni’s fastest punisher is F,F, 4 aka the flying knee. But this all takes time to learn but I’m at least having fun with it lol.

And thank god that there will be dulce allowed @ king of bling. I would be so screwed if they weren’t allowed.

Wow, you fuckers know me as well as you do and you think I’m putting you “on blast” on the mother fucking Internet. Telling me to “eat a dick” on a forum. This is all the response I’m giving. I don’t know who the two of you or mad at, but it ain’t me. But you used some great metaphors in your rant there. Props.

BTW Andrew that thriller gif >>>>>> I think I can envision Chris Brown doing the hand clap on every statement you’re making. Ah. (slap) Shit (slap) this mother fucka (slap) done disrespected me on my own post. (slap.) And as to what I meant to accomplish, getting through that onion skin and getting you fuckers back to fight night were you belong. I’ll see you Tuesday.

Zeth, the problem is when you name direct players in the fashion you did as opposed to just saying you missed “kicking it” with them is the problem in general:

Zeth wrote:
Nashville’s scene was a big influence for me moving down here, and it’s very disheartening to see the guys that basically motivated my uprooting not coming to play anymore. And I’m talking about Chris brown, Andrew, graham, Eddie, Jacob sparks. Where are you guys. I know everybody gets busy, I’m on two job shit right now, but we can make one night a week to support new players and out arcade.

Essentially you called them out for not wanting to come out lately but the thing is the issue is affecting most of the fighting game community in other states:

  1. It’s September (normally a slow month right after Summer). Most of the guys from the original SF4 crew in February 2009 have either:
Graduated college and are trying to find jobs
Working at jobs hence finding time to manage schedules is harder
Are not interested in all 29382838 fighting games that keep coming out and want to take a break
Have a hard time spending the money to come out because of lack of funds
    Playing other games (non fighting)

Now in order to keep a scene going you need new players. These are found in colleges usually, or guys that frequent game stores, or online warriors. Telling them about Fight Night is key. I am well aware I need to get flyers to any game place imaginable so new “blood” can get in to the place. Finding time with my impossible schedule is making it even tougher and tougher each day. I have the baby for 5 straight days now until Tuesday and I have two brick and mortar businesses and a an eBay business, and games on location at a third business I have to follow up on. I play so infrequently now it’s crazy and I’m “trying” to play Tekken (which means I will not be able to ever be as good as I am at Street Fighter because I can’t dedicate the time to it) to at least have that under my belt a bit…

This is not just limited to Nashville. We have a good amount of players, they are just all very, very busy at times, and also Zeth…

Graham and Arson live 80-90 minutes away.
Eddie lives 35 minutes away.
Jacob Sparks (as you know) lives 90 minutes away.

I am sure you didn’t mean it the way it sounded, you are very passionate about the fight nights and are coming to them to play and wanting to get better. The “new” blood on the scene in terms of people playing SFAE the most now are you, Zach (Squirts), Eugene (who never stopped), and a couple of other guys I don’t even know names. I will always play if I have a chance but you see how that works these days.

As Chris said, he has busted his ass for the scene, he’s done everything he can to promote. Missing a couple of fight nights in a row for him is more like a “I’m surprised he has been to so many in a row”

Eddie has hosted and hosted and done everything he can to get players here. He is the glue for out of towners and people he does not know. It is so appreciated he opens his place to people and he has also supported the arcade quite a bit.

Graham and Arson have come to numerous tournaments and fight nights before; I mean there are PLENTY of other people we can call out that post here for NOT coming to the arcade that almost NEVER come to the arcade and have always said they will be there to support, etc etc.

The fact is Game Galaxy will have been open for 4 years in November and some players I can tell you have been less than 5 times in 4 years overall, counting tournaments, fight nights, etc.

I mean, it’s $6 INCLUDING arcade games to play on Fight Night, lol…I am not sure anyone will offer that type of deal anywhere but that’s all besides the point.

I am very thankful of the players that have supported but I think Zeth’s message he is trying to get across is we’re missing a lot of people that could come and play and it’s tough when TTT2 is out and people that want to get good at it and play it don’t come out that day to magnify it even more…

There were around 15 people on Tuesday, and yes, a lot of new faces but we don’t have names to everyone…fight night isn’t dead, it’s just changing…

Oh, this is just a thought, if we decided to move Fight Night to a Friday evening would that be good or bad? I am not really thinking about it because I keep that weekend open for everyone’s other social stuff going on but figured I would bring it up now…

This is a miracle drama in the thread and Gabe is no where to be seen.

p.s. I miss Gabe :frowning:

Well, I did amend after Graham posted and said I “missed kicking it games or no”, because I did realize how it sounded. While I am known to troll, especially irl, I did not come in here in an attempt to piss off my friends. So whether they just missed this writing their novellas to my stupidity and inability to understand others situations or whether they just trolling too remains to be seen. So it is was it is. Keep Calm and Forum On.

Yeah what happened to Gabe? He’s been quiet for a long time…
