Do you guys really want to make yourselves look like MK players? I keed I keed.
Hey Jason, I’ve got that MegaMan thing done finally, I’ll bring it up Friday.

@ Jason and Rich: Again, I do understand. Personally, I thought Sunday was an interesting change of pace. I took off this Sunday the same time that I took off last Sunday for Houston. I still didn’t know whether I was going or not(if others didn’t) but I got the day just in case. I just thought guys either wanted to go, or simply didn’t. I thought that it being on Sunday would only actually affect ME, and so I handled that 2 weeks ago. The inquiries and calling for the time, and even day, of tourney to be changed started a few days ago. And only because of the promise of out of towners did other Memphis guys call for it too.
I knew about KoB and RSVP it long ago(and had my doubts on day/time then), so notice I never called for changes. I only ever thought we’d either go or wouldn’t. But now with the promise of Hoa and Sluch, that kinda opens door for other surrounding areas possibly too. I think Jais and Cincy are still coming for whatever game they play. I know how much work, planning, and preparation went into this tournament as well as establishing the times to ensure it’s ran properly. I’ll spread the word on the 25 headcount, which I think could be achieved but not under stipulation or conditions. Tekken players like concrete guaranteed stuff. But the fact that you are willing to do this, headcount pending, is pretty great itself given this short notice “MK dilemna” lol. I’ll inform.
Mike, Tekken community definitely can get together quick to make things happen so if you guys do this, that is fine, but you said it right there, if “top” players want to come they don’t have a right to “dictate” time and the guy on Facebook trying to “get the TO” to change the time doesn’t seem to understand logic when it comes to planning but if you guys get 25 we’ll do it. I can’t get on Facebook because my account was hacked until tonight…
Yea, that’s why I didn’t say anything outright about that. We probably could’ve gathered guys and got them to confirm in advance, but I don’t really network or try to do communal shit anymore. It wasn’t even that type of tourney to me. To me, it was just going to be about giving TN scene a taste of playing Tekken in a tourney, IF PEOPLE ENTERED. If they didn’t, I just planned to play casuals and go back home. This is only if I was riding with guys though. I can see why someone wouldn’t want to drive down for that reason and knowing how people flip flop and drop games here, it seems like a lost effort to some to even go.
It looks like, from what I can realistically make of it, that guys who want to play Tekken and get into it have to come out to the actual Tekken tournaments and gatherings. Before players come to tourneys for other games, who are just running Tek on the card with “enough demand”. Especially since MidTN hasn’t been a spot for Tek since Ian and Charlie ran the older KiTs. So nobody was checking for KoB until last minute when I put it in ears that the fate of new TN tek scene with future tourneys depended on attending KoB, or at least playing these guys so they can get experience.
In short, this is iffy all around. Because you’ve done your part, but besides the pot bonus that’s dependant on number of entrants, there’s no incentive for players to come. And it’s me wanting to come strictly for the casuals with faith and all that shit. Others, it would be tournament and then casuals if asked, because they don’t believe anyone will still be playing by like next week. And that thought has them feeling that people won’t even enter. And then it’s a burn. Sigh…
Mike, I completely understand, we had players yesterday, Arson, Graham, Pat, Chris, Richard, myself, and even Q (who plays very good Bryan and was around in the KiT days learning from Cody) were all playing Tekken yesterday…Myles and Zeth were absent…
I had to protect myself with the 16 players and cutting the extra $…That lack of ANYONE entering Tekken the first week with $100 bonus for 1st REALLY got to me; that alone changed this tournament because we’ve had to fight and scrounge just to get the people that are playing right now, but if the players can’t come because of Sunday at 4pm, it is what it is, but I know that the lack of support from the first tournament was a direct contributor to this happening…just too much stuff going on but like with MK I don’t expect a lot of people for Tekken.
Heck, I would be surprised if ANYONE showed up for MK at this rate. I am selling those MK games once we are done with that tournament. Last time I throw an MK9 tournament unless a scene magically resurrects itself…
tekken scene is dead mike, live with it!
So shut up and come over sunday if you dont go to kob so I can slap you around a bit in taken tag tournament 2 starring liam neeson as paul
will there be casual TTT2 set ups all weekend? Or just sunday?
@ Jason: Smh. Yea I know that Dimo vs World tourney directly affected this. But, even in other camps, some people were TERRIFIED to attend any first week tournaments. They fail to see it as good experience and instead say that they “weren’t ready”. That’s what happened to attendance to the first week events in various communities all over. Only thing was, they had enough players in scene to cover the spread. TN doesn’t. Not ones that want to be actively competitive anyway.
@ Jose: No, it’s not. But we only have a handful of players who WANT to consistently travel or be active competitively. We only have like 5 who WILL. Scene isn’t “dead”. You can find Tekken matches in Memphis anyday of the week. But…I want more than me, Rell, Marcus, Terrence, and Derek hitting these tourneys. Especially here in Memphis. Knox, we got Jio, Trung, Jamie in Bristol, Cordy when he feels like it, etc.
Alot of people who want to play and not compete. That’s perfectly fine. But if you know that you only want to be a casual player, just play casually or ask casual questions. And some of our guys who do want to be competitive and know that they can’t travel like they want or get regular games to maintain consistency and experience. Like Sev. Which sucks. Rob and Sean are trying to level up and hit MLG, so that’s cool. Rob went to tourneys in the past and 2010 MLG, but stopped playing for a while and missed some crucial gatherings. Bishop is getting back on it too I think and maybe traveling, which is ALL he needs to do. So you see the recurring dilemma.
Jose, I’m looking at your punk ass for picking up this game seriously and traveling/competing if you like it enough. If I don’t go to KoB, then I’m going to work. But when I get off it’s whatever. Get the game before then and fuck around with Paul/True Ogre/etc. so all you’ll need to do is be pointed in right direction and get regular games to level up.
Huh? I was just saying you and Zeth were among the Tekken players that didn’t show.
Huge difference between what Zeth said vs what I said which was making a statement about who was there and 2 others that would play Tekken as well.
Dimo: There will be at least one TTT2 setup all weekend starting Friday, I have enough for 4 PS3 setups and 2 XBOX 360 for casual if need be; overall we should have 13 setups including the 5 tourney stations.
Arcade SSF4AE is back up (linked)
So I might as well address this finally. A few people know but I am moving away from MS/TN back to RVA in November. T and I are finalizing the purchase of our second house with a close date of Nov 1 and a move date on or around 11.13 barring anything crazy happening. I will try to make it to whatever gatherings I can between now and then but its gonna be really hectic with working on the current place, packing, planning etc.
I love most of ya’ll yes homo and many of you are like family now. I will be attending Evo 2013 so hopefully we can meet up there and kick it/catch up. Looks like I will have to start playing more games online now lol
Is there going to be a fight night tonight? I need to play people who at least have some common sense. Online makes my head hurt sometimes. If no fight night than I’ll be online, PSN - GamerD-Wreck.
WHAT??? You moving and didnt tell me?? How dare you!! Smh you break my heart. Oh well at least I still got my broham justin for big lots bromance.
Sev, you’re just now telling ME too!
This fact, coupled with the discovery of your moving…it’s too much. I feel sick. My stomach hurts. Oh God. I’m about to throw up. Oh Goddddd!
THE REST OF MY GODDAMNED DAY IS RUINED.
Sorry fellas. I didn’t want to say anything too early since we were still working with banks, house offers etc in case it fell through. It happened kind of quick like anyway. Like it began in earnest in Sept. Stuff is changing with my work, T was getting offers for jobs back in VA too. Plus my god daughter is there. We have to kick it at least once more before the departure though. I will see if I can host something in the near future if time/space permits.
This was why I asked Majin recently if Richmond had any tek scene that he knew off. Im hoping it isnt all Marvel there.
Nah. I know guys in DMV(DC/Maryland/Virginia) scene. They’re a collective. From newer guys to solid ones to known players to OGs. There’s many.
Derek is also from there.
what is RVA?
EDIT, never mind lol
We will always have Paris… I mean Tekken Online Arena.
