The Low Level Tennessee Thread Full of Casuals :)

I’ll play some MvC1 been forever since I played that. My hitbox is still broke until Friday lol so I’ll have to be a pad warrior again for now.

Been playing SF and tekken only recently. Think I’m actually starting to like sf4 again, can only be playing gief or adon to actually like it though.

This is gonna be tricky because New Gen just closed as well. Their last day was this past Sat and the closing came out of no where. We are looking for another place now

Damn, New Gen closed before I could even check it out. I guess FN can be held at Steak n Shake in Southaven then lol.

@ Richard and Jason: Hey is there any sort of confirmed headcount(barring death or other tragedy) for TTT2 at King of Bling? I ask because I’m trying to get the handcuffs off to hit up another consecutive tournament as well trying to get the guys to go. Personally, Sunday is a unique change for a tourney but I do work on that day. So have to take off from work for this as well as the recently revealed TTT2 on circuit at MLG Dallas on Nov.2, announced with extremely short notice.

I would love to come out and play with you guys regardless, besides a tournament even happening. And that could be a random day. Unfortunately, we don’t know how serious MidTN or even other Memphis peeps are about playing or if they’ll even enter bracket. So minus Dimo, or Ian who’ll be out of town, I guess just looking to avoid a “Memphis house gathering” 6 man tournament.

It’s just a culmination of the date, timing, etc. that has me inquiring, despite King of Bling being planned and set for awhile now. But this short notice MLG is a must go. Any feedback is appreciated dudes. I do want to come. Also, KEEP PLAYING.

I will be playing if I can find a PS3 stick. Otherwise I won’t.

Flymike: Honestly I couldn’t say, I “heard” that most of the players were interested in coming from other regions for Tekken, but Sunday is kicking people out of certain things. I don’t think Sunday should be a problem as most people have their “Top 8” on Sundays anyway for the bigger tournaments but we separated these so everyone can play a game without it overlapping other games. Also, I know people are playing it, whether or not they enter the tourney is a different story.

Myles: The less people that enter means we won’t ever have a tournament for TTT2 again. The last tournament had 0 people. Dimo was there by default but no one else entered. It seems more people are interested but again, if no one supports it, we won’t have another, simple as that…I am sure you can find a PS3 stick. You can borrow one at the event, just not one to take home.

There needs to be at least 16 people for Tekken for the extra $250 for 1st, that much I know…we built this in specifically in case of this.

I guess I will be playing Tekken at KoB than!

If attendance for TTT2 at KoB is gonna be a foreseen issue then I will try to make it out. No promises though because my work is in peak. Also if I can find a ride.

I’m entering tekken at kob, I still don’t own the game but it would be nice to keep it around. Hopefully I can finally pick it up this week.

Sorry for the double post:

GRam, some additional Duk notes.

Duk can also start a juggle on anyone except smalls by landing a ff1+2 grab. Standard combo after this is f+3,2B! then df2,1/df4,2 or a TA.
So you can setup situations in which your opponent has to either take the damage from an unparryable low, duck and eat a mid launcher, or stand and have to break a throw launcher. Of course the throw can be broken, but that should not discourage you from using it. If they start seeing the launch throw, alternate with Jackhammer throw.

VTS
Best options from VTS:
Throw. 2+4 throw sets up oki.
d1+2, unseeable kd low.
f+2, knockdown mid
1+2, tackle.

Tackle people. It’s a possible 35-45 damage mixup plus some incidental damage from the takedown. The tackle turns into an unbreakable spear after a certain distance but do not avoid using the regular tackle even if people break it. You can’t break them all.

I try to create setups to land tackle. after a df2,1 finisher, it knocks the opp away and you follow immediately with tackle you will grab them for free if they tech when they land. and most people do. After 1+3 throw, a lot of people will roll away, catch them with tackle while they are rolling and its unbreakable. On kd, bait a wakeup kick then avoid with db3+4 and tackle, etc.

The tackle to mount is annoying to deal with, easy to do and leads to respectable damage.

My .02 cents here Sunday causes an issue for people. Yes some bigger events have top 8 on Sunday but to start the event at 4:00 is questionable. Assuming your coming from Mem or MS its a three our drive for people to come back to have to work the next day. Its like its set up to fail. I dont see how you will get enough people unless like all of Mem comes out, ATL shows etc. Yet there are two different P4 events run on Sat? That being said I get it money is being put up for gteed pot and I know you need people to show etc. I know you cant please everyone and I cant make it anyway so my opinion is mostly moot…mostly lol

Anybody playing TT2 today?

Tekken bracket is going to be me vs. Dimo FT10 again isnt it

Well, here’s the thing…we announced the times months ago, so anything in regards to the Sunday time should have been brought up then, not this week.

Persona is much bigger here than Tekken, we need that on Saturday.

We already tried doing a $100 Tekken bonus pot tourney and 1 person showed up, that WAS on a Saturday. I mean, it’s fine, it’s obvious people do not “care” as much about Tekken out this way, but SOMETHING has to be on Sunday and again, we posted months ago about it.

There will always be people saying they have to drive, work, can’t make so and so, etc. I mean, look at MWC? We had like 40 people bail at the last minute for various reasons, I mean, it is what it is, it’s very unfortunate, but regardless even if we have 2 people show up it will be more successful than the Saturday where it was Dimo playing nobody.

Now with that said, I hope some guys are still interested in coming, but I understand if you can’t; it’s just a lot harder doing tournaments this year as the scene has diminished quite a bit due to jobs, real life, etc.

Now I almost never enter my own tournaments (or any for that matter) but I m going to pay the $10 and enter Tekken myself so you are only going to need 15 people for that extra $250 for first (whoever gets it) so I am donating as the sacrificial lamb here, lol

Also, just to clarify:

$25 cover charge (includes free play on ALL the games Fri/Sat/Sun) so if you pay on Friday you can go nuts for 3 days
$10 per game entry fee after you pay the cover

Bonus pots are $500 each for SFAE and MVC and $250 each on Persona, MK, TTT, and KOF. TTT and MK MUST have 16 people in order for the bonus money to come about.

Theres potential to have a good size group:

Zeth,Myles,Arson,Jason, and myself have shown interest. Also I know Graham and Richard are playing the game, so if they enter that’s a potential 7 right there. Richard also has friends playing, if they enter there’s more. Again, after the previous tourney, I’m not counting chickens before they hatch and if some people can’t make it, that’s totally cool; but there is potential for a good turnout from MidTN. We’ll see.

Oh the awkwardness of going in for an IT position to take a test, and the girl says testing is upstairs. “Um, I don’t do stairs,” is all I could say. o_O

The place wasn’t like an office building. It was one of those used-to-be-a-house-but-is-now-a-business deals. They did set up a laptop on the ground floor though. Freaking test was crazy hard too.

but…but why is tekken on sunday

there a fight night tomorrow? I will be out of town this weekend

Oh shit new gen closed? Where can we bring our fight night plague to? What business will we ruin next?

It’s cool enough to do it in someone’s garage now, it’s basically what T&G was.

always fight night tues
