The Lounge 10k Post Edition

yunno what i hate about amazon? that they have too many books that are NOT kindle.
every book on amazon should have the kindle option. sometimes you come across a breat book only to discover its not kindle. then you wonder if you want the shipping handling headache to deal with plus the costs being way higher in that traditional format vs the cheapness of kindle.
sigh.
sucks man.

Does that somehow invalidate the good he did?

It puts it in a completely different, more accurate perspective, yes.

He worked to liberate ā€œhis peopleā€ from British rule, all well and good… and caused or at the very least facilitated the splitting of his nation in twain between the two sides he identified with, whilst getting merked by a third, all the while (rightly) criticizing Western civilization, yet openly asserting that Africans and Blacks in general were gutter tier humans.

Pro tip:

Gandhi didn’t ā€œliberate India from British rule via pacifismā€.

The sheer logistical nightmare for the British that was maintaining the reach of their empire, did that.

Over-expansion has been the death of pretty much every empire.

Gandhi said some nice things, and Gandhi said some horrible things.

He hated Blacks, and caused Pakistan.

He was no saint.

omg
one of the 7 signs the world is ending.

i cant believe SRK survived longer than SBFP.
fuuuuck!
final score
SRK 1 - SBFP 0

People are actually upset by this?

I never found them all that interesting myself, but I have some friends who love their material.

No, I know he’s no saint, neither was Mother Teresa. A lot of non-black people were racist towards blacks at that point, and we’ve learned a lot since that time, but I think applying a 2018 lens to the 1800s is silly because there’s been so much progress since then. Is it good he was racist? No, but he still did a lot of good despite that.

MvC2 is the greatest fighting game of all time. A complete accident that turned into untouchable greatness. The game that has one of - if not the highest execution requirements in any fighting game.

To me, the ideal fighting game - one where execution is everything. Execution is the difference between winning or losing. One little execution error and it could cost you everything.

No errors - no mistakes - and you win every time — with perfects.

That is the ideal goal of every fighting game player — to win with perfects/double perfects every time — PERFECTION! — THE HIGHEST IDEAL OUTCOME POSSIBLE.

Execution >>>>>>>>>>>>> Strategy — ALWAYS.

This fits me more than it does Preppy, or pretty much anyone on this board.

Go play djmax or one of those rhythm games then

No thanks. I’d get bored of the gameplay real fast. I’d go mad from how boring those games are. I’d rather play SHMUPs than rhythm games.

I gain more enjoyment from practicing Magneto ROM infinite in training mode for hours than I do playing rhythm games or SHMUPs, so I’ll just keep on doing what I’m doing. =)

I think it is rather myopic on his part, and on the part of anyone looking at history through such a lense.

Gandhi wasn’t an advocate against White oppression, until he had it forcibly pressed upon him that HE wasn’t White.

And even then, he was too arrogant to apply the logical extension of it to his own racism against those darker than he.

He failed at both ends.

Sometimes it takes being in a situation to know how it affects you. Not everyone is self aware enough to be able to put themselves in other people’s shoes. Sometimes good people do bad things, and sometimes bad people do good things. Humanity is complicated.

It’s @ B&

also LOOOL. They got caught, the counterfeiters LOOOL

That is exactly my point.

He WAS in that situation, and yet did not apply it to his own prejudices.

Further, anyone not able to put themselves into someone else’s shoes is suffering from a rather severe mental~emotional defect.

Reason and empathy are the cornerstones of what it is to be human.

They are the parents of both understanding and compassion, and, ultimately, of love.

No one is perfect.

One can be imperfect without being a bigot.

It is easy.

Everyone who isn’t a racist piece of shit is already doing it.

We’re all doing and thinking things right now that someone in 10 or more years will probably consider racist/bigoted/whatever. The goalposts move, as well they should.

You are the only one moving goal posts.

Gandhi was very specific in his racist point of view.

It was not subtle.

He wrote it out for fuck’s sake.

Defend Mein Kampf.

Fuck internet rules.

You’re inviting it.
