It has to be something more sinister than that, though. Widmore was just as pissed as Ben that he was asked to leave the island and wanted revenge on Jacob just the same. What better a way to get revenge is there than tag teaming with Smokey to kill Jacob.
Also, as far as Ben killing Jacob goes, it HAD to have been Ben. It was too meticulous to have been convenience. Think about it, the smoke monster came and killed most of the guys responsible for Alex’s death. Locke didn’t want to leave the island, but he was lead to leaving the island by god knows who. At this point, it would seem that Christian is in leagues with Smokey and that’s why he got Locke to leave and showed him how. Now, here’s where shit gets deep. The time flashes. An injured John runs into Richard who has all of the answers because Smokey Locke told him and patched John up. Not that it mattered, John couldn’t die because he’s a candidate at this point and can only be killed a certain way, just like Richard. He lived after Ben shot him and left him for dead as well. Proof. Anyway, Richard patches John up so he can leave the island, only to break both of his legs in the fall after the time shift, where Christian tells him how to do the rest. Yeah yeah, you know all this.
The question is “WHY?” Well, Smokey already knew via the cave and other various ways that Hurley, Jack, Sayid and Sun would be back, because they’re all potential Candidates, not to mention there’s a picture of them in a Dharma house. They’ll obviously be back. And Jacob wasn’t on the island at the time to STOP John from leaving the island. So, this is Smokeys chance to get John to leave to get get BEN to come back. Anyway, Smokey needed Ben back to the island to kill Jacob. It couldn’t have been anyone else. I doubt there would be that many coincidences.
That makes sense, I always thought it was more complex.
Lost guys stuck in 1977, some off the island. Jacob tells Richard who tells Ilana in the hospital that Sayid has to come back. The reason is so he can shoot Ben. Jacob tells Richard to heal Ben [when Wiidmoore questions Richard, he says Jacob told him to heal him] because he knows by doing so Ben is able to kill him. Jacob dies by Ben who was healed at the temple (maybe by being healed be becomes part of Jacob or something). Lost people come back to the present as a result of Jacobs death, hence “they’re coming”.
Next week should be killer with richard’s story. Was that ship that sailed in at the end of the last season the black rock that richard apparently was on?
So if Jacob touches you, when do you stop aging? Only when you are on the island? Or at some predetermined maturity age? I have to assume our candidates cannot age now, as well.

The best part of that episode for me was when that car hit Sawyers and then there was a chase scene after a guy that was OBVIOUSLY Charlie, with dude legs and dude arms and not that luscious Kate booty and then it turned out to be Kate.
Still, this means that Flocke and Widmore aren’t in Cohoots and frankly Flocke is turning out to be a pretty stand-up guy, IMO. It would seem we have bad guy vs bad guy but I guess that all depends on what is revealed in the Richard episode and whats in that locked door on the sub.
I considered that, being that those are crew quarters, but I think its something a bit more nefarious than that. I wonder if Ben will actually get revenge for Alex… You know, on Widmore, not on Jacob.
Flocke knew full well that Widmore would be there and with a Submarine. He had no intention of ever using that plane. I doubt he would go out of his way to save Ben just to let him get murdered on Hydra. Makes no sense. This will sadly be one of those things that they don’t answer.
Well the rules state that Ben can’t kill Widmore and I think vice versa. And also Ben had the chance to kill Penny for his revenge but he decided not to in the end.
As we found out in the previous episode Ben has accepted that he was responsible for Alex’s death as he chose the island before her. I think Ben has turned over a new leaf.
Interesting. I forgot about Flocke telling Ben to go to Hydra island. I really don’t know what his intention was.
Great ep, when was it first revealded that Sawyer and Miles were cops? (I remember some of you mentioned them as cops couple of weeks ago).
I was totally expecting the chick(kate) that crashed into Sawyer and Miles to be Michelle Rodriguez it would have been a cool role switch with Sawyer (she was a cop and killed someone).
These buildup episodes are necessary in setting the stage for the epic final episodes of lost to come, or at least that’s what I’m convincing myself of, because the plot could not be moving any slower atm
Umm, you realize that this show is pretty much crap right now.
There is absolutely no possible way they can finish the series in the time they have that can make up for this unneccessarily long build up. The story telling of this show has gone to hell, and you need good story telling in order to make a show like this work, since every conceivable ending has already been guessed.
Man, I will watch Lost, but when it’s over and we get this rediculous “oh, the Island is actually a magical box that grants wishes” ending each and everyone of you will be pissed.
At least a movie with a crappy ending is a waste of two hours at most. This show cost me six fucking years.:mad:
