kid version locke picks up the compass and studies it closely, and you see richard get all hopeful. then afterwards, he settles on the knife. i thought maybe kid version of locke already knew he owned the compass before, but he consciously picked the knife instead to break away from his destiny of being a “scientist.” seems like time course corrected itself (which could tie into abaddon’s role of making locke go on the walkabout) and locke ended up on the island becoming a scientist/leader of the others, anyways.
surprise widmore was a really cool touch.
mrs. hawkings seems very powerful/possibly broken. “event window determined.” probably means theres a wormhole to get back onto the island appearing at that location for only 70 hours.
the time traveling aspects of the show are very confusing to think about (especially when you read into all the different schools of thought on time travel), but make the show even more mindfucky and awesome.

In the preview episode for this season, the writers talked about how this year would have more answers than questions … but so far, with the whole time travel and what not, things have been rather :looney:

Not really, no. What we know is that it was a magnet. A magnet so strong it brought flight 815 to the island. What we don’t know is why it was there and why the numbers had to be pushed. It’s not like there was always a computer terminal there… (well, with this show and the way its going, that might not be true.) Even Ben called what happened “the anomaly”. Also, it might have been what powered the time function.
Sure, I’m as curious about the smoke creature as I was when people thought it was a dinosaur, but the explanation is that it’s probably ghosts or something silly. No idea on that.
The way things are going, the islands natives are probably actually descendants of the flight 815 survivors.
You don’t pay attention to shit do you? It’s not a “magnet” it’s an energy source. Once they tapped into it, they realized that in order to harness the energy they had to find a way to let it release safely. That’s what the key sequence was for. It was just to release the energy in short does to avoid the massive releases that we witnessed earlier.
I would post the information J.J.
