The LOST thread

Damn straight although at this point, I consider anything focusing on most of the LA cast filler…

… and damn Desmond knocked Penny up with the quickness.

Good shit from tonight

[details=Spoiler]
Charles Widmore was an Other and he has always been a prick. I figured kid would play into things when Locke’s pussied out on shooting him but damn, I never expected him to be that pivotal. I have to wonder if the blonde girl isn’t Mrs. Hawkins, who is looking more and more like she is Daniel’s moms.

How torn must Desmond and Penny have been to name their kid Charlie? On one hand, you want to honor the guy who actually helped get them together. But then it is the same name of your bastard pop that has been fucking things up for everyone. But still Desmond even in an episode where he does so little is still one of the best characters on the show.

I can’t help but wonder if Charlotte is related to the chick that Desmond experimented on in some way.

And I think I called Richard being immortal before but damn if the proof isn’t in the pudding. How exactly Locke thinks he is in charge of him just because Ben told him so is a mystery to me. [/details]

He had a bunch of items. I forgot what they were. Probably was, though.

It was a compass actually.

I remember he layed out the items in front of Kid Locke and asked him which one of these things belonged to him “already”.

The past can’t be changed. It’s just that the rules don’t apply to Desmond for some reason. he’s free to do and change what he wants.

I figured that out last episode when he handed him the compass and said “show me this.”

weird thing is that you’d think that Locke would have remembered richard visiting him. time cant be changed, and what happens has happened. it has also been stated in the show that the past can be changed. i dont know. in the episode that richard visited locke, he layed out the items, i remember a comic book, a vile of sand, a knife, the compass, and some other bullshit. he ended up picking the knife and richard got all pissy.

Alright, here’s the way it goes down. You can’t change the past…UNLESS you changed the past all along. As it turns out, Faraday had always been that person at that time. The island being moved always happened. Ben knew it would happen and so did Richard. That’s why Ben knew that doing it would be the right thing, because it’s the only way John Locke could have met Richard. Richard, already having the memories of meeting John in the past, set things in motion with Ben and young John Locke to insure that John Locke would have the memories that he had in the first place.

Now, as far as Desmond is concerned… He has flashes of “the past” as they happen on the Island because he’s a constant. Time outside of the island isn’t relative, It’s fixed with whomever is traveling with it, meaning, anything they do while traveling will have a direct impact on those effected by the island. In this case, Desmond because he is apparently a temporal paradox (due to the fact that his future directly influences his past). You’ll find that the shows more complex characters all have this characteristic. Ben, Locke, Desmond, Faraday and now apparently Widmore, who met Faraday in his past only to fund him in his future to make sure he meets him. The show ties up it’s loose ends so well.

Have any more questions?

He didn’t have a problem with the knife. He had a problem with the Compass, the compass being Richard’s and all. But he had to act frustrated because John passed the test, meaning that John Locke was, in fact, their leader.

And thinking about that compass… if Locke got it from Richard and Richard got it from Locke, where did it ACTUALLY come from?

You sure? I’ll have to double check, but i was positive he picked up the compass, then the sand, then settled on the knife. at which point richard became dissapointed and said he made a big mistake. Richard had asked him which of the items already belonged to him(john). but the question was flawed because none of the items belonged to him, yet anyway.

You bring up a good point about the origin of the compass though.

He chose several items.

John was asked which one of these belong to him already. He chose the granules of sand, the compass, and was about to claim the Book of Laws… but settled for the Knife instead. Richard Alpert looked like he was hoping for John to pick up the Book of Laws instead of the knife.

Richard still kept tabs on Locke though. When Locke was in high school, the teacher mentioned that a Dr. Alpert from Mitellos sciences was interested in him for summer camp. Locke refused the invitation though.

I wonder what’s Matthew Abaddon’s role in all of this. He visisted Locke when Locke was in the hospital, and suggested to him to take a Walkabout.

The origin of the compass is really mindboggling it creates a time paradox with no start and no end.

I think that pointed to Locke actually failing the process to be the Others leader. Pretty much Locke has been going against his nature trying to be what he thinks is greater and at the same time failing all over the place.

Or at least that is what I hope this Locke constantly hounding Richard stuff is eventually leading to.

Abaddon is still somewhat of a mystery. Seemingly ageless like Richard and shows up randomly. At first I thought he might work for Widmore but now I’m not sure. Could he BE another Jacob or just another “other”?

Last season she said something about looking for the place where she was born, as though she thinks she was born on the island. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it, but it would makes sense as to why the island’s move would affect her.

Theory speculation and guessing time:

Spoiler

Faraday’s mom is that old lady that talked with Ben in the end of ep 2 “This one wears red shoes…”

At this point that is more of a spoiler then a theory.

I’m still sure abbadon works for widmore. Widmore knows of John Locke, and that he will goto the island. So he sent abbadon to get to john and suggest the walkabout. Then dont forget that abbadon directly recruited Naomi and the rest of the freighter crew. And they were all hired by widmore. That seems like direct evidence. But its not to say that abbadon doesnt have his own personal motives.

Realy? why?
i added spoiler tags to the post just in case

um cause

Spoiler

in the rerun of “the lie” episode the pop up video said that the mrs hawking chicks first name was eloise. which is daniels lab rats name. that plus the chick on the island dan was held at gunpoint and he thinks is familiar is called ellie.

Damn, this show is awesome. Pure genius. I was caught off guard after the guy mentioned his name was Widmore.

That’s not speculation, it’s fairly obvious…

As far as Abbadon goes… he more then likely works for Widmore, but how long and how does Widmore know him? I guess what I mean is was he on the island too?
