The LOST thread

i dunno about you guys but that psychic guy who gave claire her prophecy freaked the crap outta me O_O

good job remembering that though, i love how every little past detail always comes back around with new significance in this show.

Jesus christ.

If this turns out to be what is actually going on… I don’t know what to say.

if this turns out to be what is actually going on, then i was right 9 months ago when i said it. i’m watching it again from the beginning and so far pretty much every thing points to this. here’s some more things i’ve been thinking about.

-the “incident” the Asian guy in the Dharma film is talking about was probably him meeting his mirror, which was probably how he lost his arm. that’s why he was so upset about it. if you have the DVDs watch how he says “There was an… incident…” EDIT AGAIN: that’s also why the Asian guy was named Candleman in one film and Wickman in the other. they aren’t twins.

-the island is a hub for multiple realities

-not everybody that survived the plane crash is from the same reality

-the “Oceanic 6” might not be an implication of “only 6 survived/got off the island” but that 6 people from THAT REALITY survived. all the others may be on a different reality.

-Locke’s former boss at the box company is still at the box company; Hurley’s former boss at the fast food restaurant is still at the fast food restaurant. different realities = different jobs

3rd EDIT: stay out of this, io. i’m right because i am a super jenus. don’t hate cuz you didn’t figure it out first

i think some fans are going a little overboard with the analysis. then again, it’s lost, so who knows :looney:

I still can’t believe Kate’s kid is actually Aaron; wasn’t Claire supposed to be the ONLY one to look after the kid? Someone told me that something will happen that will break this prophecy, while another said that the fortune teller was fraud (which was kinda revealed in a flashback of Eko), but I don’t think so.
Seriously this was the most mindfucking part of this ep.

Daniel’s badass BTW

if multiple realities are true, then Bizarro Claire or Regular Claire might die, and someone will have to keep Bizarro Aaron or Regular Aaron. one Claire can’t keep both babies lest there be another incident.

Wait multiple realities doesn’t cut it and I won’t believe in it till I get Mindfucked by it.

:u: yeah, i’d put my head in the sand too if i ever saw True Jeanyuz replying back to me on a message board

more ramblings:

  • nerd guy was hard pressed to get the helicopter dude to fly at a specific bearing; probably because doing it wrong will have them end up in a different reality (and they haven’t gotten to the ship yet…)

  • each Dharma facility is for a different reality

  • Danielle’s crew actually got sick because they might not have been vaccinated for a common ailment that many of the other reality peeps have been.

That’s a pretty cool theory. Which unforunately is the problem.

This is going to turn out like Matrix Revolutions.

If you recall, some wizhead internet leet dude came up with this UNBELIEVABLY awesome story for how he thought Revolutions would play out after having seen Reloaded. It was so awesome that many people realized they would be in for a big letdown if it didn’t actually happen the way that guy predicted.

Of course, it didn’t happen that way at all and I and many others were extremely disappointed in what really happened, after being ruined by such a cool possible ending.

So yeah, a warning. Don’t buy into this theory too deeply, because if it ends up being “Hurley dreamed it all while in the drive thru at McDonalds,” you’re all going to be really let down.

Cool, what was the story?

That last statement can’t be true; it was already confirmed that there was no sickness…unless the sickness was caused manually. IMHO Ben had something to do with the death of Danielle’s people. Only other thing I can think up of is…WAIT A FUCKING MINUTE-
Hang on WHEN DID Ben kill off the Dharma people again?! What if he killed them when Dan and her crew came to the island?

At any rate the whole Alt. reality thing I can’t accept, there is a magical, scientific explanation for all this.

Dont worry. That movie was crap regardless of watever expectations you had.

The creators have practically said in there podcast that time dilation/anamolies are important. If you watch the orchid video, you’ll realize once the other rabbit appears, the girl said she set it for -20. meaning 20 minutes in the past or future. The rocket taking long and the the helicopter taking long to reach the freighter is also evidence of time anamolies.

**Just started watching this series a few weeks ago on DVD. Just finished season 3 a few minutes ago. This is some good TV here…

…but John Locke pisses me off. Lots.**

monster - point where the realities meet?

hmm…was it the same bearing that Ben gave Michael when they went off in the raft???

IIRC it was kind of like this DOOM fanfic http://youarethedemons.com/ just replace John with Neo, and Demons with robot. but seriously, it was a pretty cool theory. i went into the theater psyched with that guy’s idea- only to realize afterwards that Wachowski Brothers are garbage directors that took an awesome story in a garbage direction because they can only make “ultra hip” fight scenes which when put up against Bound (their directorial debut), all look exactly the fucking same.

anything could be considered “magic” if you don’t know how it works, so technically it is magic?

-working theory-

i was thinking BSM = Virus Scanner. “viruses” in this case means things that will try to cause harm to other realities/the island/whatever. it provides security by battling those which are considered a threat. if you have the DVDs check out Psalm 23 (in the second season) when BSM stares down Mr. Eko. it was probably analyzing the threat level. when the camera swings through the monster, we see images of Eko’s past flash within the smoke. BSM is pretty much scanning his memories for certain “malicious strings” that would make him a threat. at that point there was none, so it left him alone - BUT noted him as a “potential threat.” noting a virus as a potential threat allows the scanner to test the virus in various ways to see how it will react (shape shifting into Kate’s horse, Mr. Eko’s brother, or whatever the hell Locke saw the first time). if another scan of a person proved actual threat, then it proceeds to destroy. Mr. Eko telling “his brother” he doesn’t give a fuck about repentance raised his threat level to the point where the BSM killed him. Locke, Jack, Kate, and Hurley messing with fucking DYNAMITE got them chased. The pilot… well he did crash the plane into the island…

not sure yet. i don’t remember if Ben even expressed the exact coordinates to us (through speaking with Michael’s character). right now we are at Psalm 23 (the episode where Mr. Eko and the BSM face off). we’ll probably have this season finished by Thursday at the pace we’re going. expect more supporting evidence on my theory in a few…

Great, another six week break after Sun’s ep 7

Argh. That sucks. The original plan was to do the six week break after episode 8, but it looks like they’ve changed the plan.

Oh well. At least they’re finishing off the season. This is still my favorite show on TV along with House MD.
