I still feel like you have absolutely no idea what happened during the final episode even on the most basic level, and I question what chemicals were shooting around in your brain during its airing.
ahem So after sleeping on it for a night and still thinking about it today, I’m liking the ending more and more. They didn’t nail all the details, but they did get the sentiment right. Sawyer got off the damned island, and with freckles to boot, and I picture Hurley’s life on the island to mirror Waspinator’s ending in the Beast Wars finale. Jack accepted his sacrifice and did the right thing, and was rewarded with being reunited with everyone, and it was more instantaneous for him than for the survivors. Except for the Sun and Jin thing I think it works for me.
Exactly lol so many people were just not smart enough to grasp what happened within the last 15 minutes. I’m getting so sick of the complaints and idiotic remarks like: “WHAT!? They were dead all along!!??” It just sucks that LOSTs style of giving non-spoonfed answers is backfiring just because people can’t break down simple information.
-Sawyer didn’t really deserve too much at the end imo because of what he had done on the sub.
-With widmore ben finally got the revenge for his daughter.
-Desmond was immune to electromagnetic energy. He has been ever since season 2 when he survived the hatch implosion. This gave him the ability to put out the light as well as travel to the mind of his sideways self for a moment. Just as he traveled to his old selves in the constant.
-Been had his big moment a few episodes back when he apologized for what he did to jacob. The radio he was hiding in his pocket signified that he wasn’t actually siding with the man in black.
-The bomb at the end of season 5 was the incident. They ended up starting the events that would Ultimately lead to their crash on the island. When they detonated it and released the energy they caused a flash that sent them to the present. This is confirmed by rose telling us the sky lit up one last time. And we know the bomb did detonate because no one could hear and they had been thrown all around the forest.
I think most people know the island itself was not purgatory. Its just that since the ending had SOMETHING to do with death/purgatory, most people think it was a cop out.
Like 5 years ago people were like…
Fans: Aw is they in Purgatory?
Show: No they are not. we promise.
Fans: hmm… so show has nothing to do with Purgatory huh?..
Show: UUhh…yyyyyyeee…Next Question Plz!
Then at the end …
SHow: Haha we only said the ISLAND wasnt purgatory, we never said the show wouldnt be about purgatory later on…dam we some good writers lol
agree with keits. everyone was hoping that darlton wouldn’t “BSG or Soprano” us but it turns out that, personally, BSG had a more fitting ending. although lost’s finale was somewhat good, it seemed like it was a big F U, just hidden behind its execution and emotional payout. BSG seemed more “planned from the beginning”.
Its completely different. People were afraid that all the characters had died in the plane crash, thus whatever was going on was actually irrelevant on the island. But the creators said that this was not the case and all the characters were alive.
The flashsideways was just a view of what happened to everyone AFTER THEY DIED IN THE SHOW. Everything on the island was real, and really happened. The flashsideways was only created because of how important the events on the island were to the people who died.
Yeah I have to disagree with this 100%. BSG didn’t seem planned from one episode to the next, least of all from the beginning. And more fitting ending? BSG’s luddite ending was a refutation of the entire series.
I know…it hasn’t fully sunken in yet that I’ll never see a new episode again…but at least it went out with a bang imo. Jack was my favorite character throughout the series, seeing him become the savior of the island was just too good.
exactly… but do you not see the problem with this why some people dislike the ending? the flash-sideways stuff only reinforced what we already knew about the real timeline, instead of explaining some of the things that we would have wanted to know. because they placed so much importance on the flash-sideways stuff, it feels like they neglected the real timeline which consequently gave us even less information.
Meh ending was OK, haters gonna hate and fanboys gonna fan what you gonna do? Most ending suck anyway so was to be expected, i said after ep 1 that it was obvious that shit wasn’t gonna get answered and that ppl better be ok with it but nobody wanted to listen ;).
jacob’s ladder doesn’t stay unsolved, nor does brazil really. they both do what you seem to accuse Lost of doing, entering a “fantasy” world without telling the audience until a reveal at the end. Ladder is a classic all around, but Lost was emphatically not trying to use the same construct.
That isn’t the case at all. The focus was the battle for the island in season 6. The flashsideways was a side story to clarify what happens after the battle is finished. Just like in season 1-3 flashbacks tell a small story parallel to the current timeline that help you understand each characters motivations.
As for the explaining things and answering questions, we got a whole shit ton throughout the season.such as:
1.What the smoke monster was.
2.What the numbers mean.
3.What the whispers were.
4.How christian Shepard appeared to be alive.
5.Where jacob came from.
6.Why people can’t leave the island.
7.Jack caused the incident with the bomb.
8.Why each of them were brought to the island.
9.what the island was.
10.what the temple was.
11.what happened to claire.
12.What makes the island special.
13.How jacob could do the things he did.
14.Why richard didn’t age.
15.How the blackrock got to the middle of the island.
16.Where richard came from.
17.Who adam and ever were.
18.Why the man in black needed someone else to kill Jacob.
19.Why none of the others had ever actually met Jacob.
20.How the others began and what their true goal was.
21.Who built the wheel near the center of the island.
etc.
That’s just off the top of my head. I really think people are being greedy wanting EVERY single question to be answered. Of course they were going to leave some up to us to figure out for ourselves. Hell the creators stated this before the season even began.
Is ridiculous. Whoever made this must not have payed very much attention to details. Most if not all of these have answers. I could hardly even watch it anymore after he asked: “why did the monster kill mister echo”, “why didn’t it kill him the first time”,and “why did yemi’s body disappear”. What an idiot. There is an entire episode dedicated to the man in black posing as yemi testing Mr. echo. Once echo tells him he is not sorry for what he did, and that he doesn’t regret what hes done in his life. The man in black kills him, because he realized echo could not be manipulated because of his strong will. Unlike Ben who he easily manipulated during his judgment . Echo told john you’re next because that’s the person the man in black set his sites on next for his plan to kill Jacob. I swear, some people just love to try and down the show but end up making themselves look stupid.
